    Monday mornings are dreaded by all in need of a G.P. I hated being told I was number 25 in a telephone queue, then arguing with a receptionist about an appointment. Swapped Surgery to the only one in my area offering a computer, triage service managed by a senior G.P. Yesterday morning, it took me six minutes to fill in a simple online form that a 78 year old could understand. Received a telephone call 90 minutes later offering a G.P. appointment one hour and a half hours later. After a chest examination, I was put on antibiotics. Amazing, fast diagnosis and treatment. In my opinion, old fashioned Family Doctors can't match the express service provided by Beech Tree Surgery.

    Using the Anima service this morning I was offered an appointment to see an Advanced Care Practitioner. He was thorough, thoughtful and professional in his approach, and I had every confidence in his care. The receptionist who phoned to make the appointment was kind and sympathetic. This is not the first time I have used Anima and each time I have been impressed by the way my requests have been responded to. Thank you.

    I needed some medication that was not included in my repeat list. I requested it on the online service just after 8.00am, an auto reply came up immediately acknowledging my request saying it may take 2 -3 days to respond but then at 8.20am the surgery responded saying they had prescribed the requested meds and it was ready to collect at pharmacy - how good is that! The online system was easy to use and as well as asking very relevant questions it had space for me to describe my problem and what outcome I was seeking which I found particularly helpful. An altogether excellent service that quickly and easily got me exactly what I needed even faster that I could have hoped for as an octogenarian with very poor computer skills. Very many thanks.

    The Riccall branch of this surgery seems to be slowly shutting down, reducing services offered. There is never a doctor on site and only occasionally a nurse or healthcare assistant. On the whole, I have found reception staff at Riccall friendly but unable to help with even simple queries. On trying to collect a prescription today I was advised it’s not there. It’s required over the weekend. I did try to collect earlier in the week but the practice was closed due to staff shortages. The receptionist was unable to put a request on the system for a prescription to be issued to selby for my husband to collect later, and simply said there was nothing she could do and we’d have to contact the selby branch. I’m currently number fifteen in a queue and have already been on hold for fifteen minutes. It’s far from an ideal use of my morning.

Regarding your concerns about service availability, we are actively working to improve the coverage and support at our branch sites. While we currently have limited clinical presence at Riccall, we are in the process of reviewing our service structure to ensure that we can offer consistent and accessible care across all our sites. I apologise if this has made it seem as though services are being reduced, alongside unavoidable staff shortage. In relation to your recent visit to collect a prescription, I’m sorry that you faced inconvenience and were unable to receive assistance as expected. We strive to ensure that all our staff are equipped to handle patient queries effectively. I will address this with the team to ensure that alternative solutions are offered when immediate assistance isn’t available at one of our branches. Your feedback about the call wait times is also noted. We are continuously working on improving our phone system and response times to reduce the burden on our patients.     Hi. I had, thankfully, no need to use surgery until recently. I had heard about patients experiencing great difficulty in navigating the surgery administration site to gain access for diagnosis and treatment. Long waits for appointments or not actually receiving them! But thankfully I was given some very helpful and prompt support from the Reception Team. Gradually, as I needed to return for various reasons I began to really appreciate the logic and workings of the system such that I now find it very intuitive and easy to gain access to the various personal and services required without any real difficulty. It can be daunting and confusing to gain entry through the NHS or Anima portals but having 2 points of access actually makes it easier to do so. We are all finding ourselves in seemingly endless waiting times for phone to be answered “ due to the sheer volume of calls”! The surgery call back system works extremely well as I found out recently! If you need an appointment or some guidance it is available and actually leaves you the patient in a lot more control of your health requirements than you think. It gives you the freedom of getting to the right source in your own time and putting all the relevant details down in writing! So. Stick with it! Look at how Beech Tree Surgery it’s Staff and System is there to help you! We all know that massive pressures on the NHS so a little patience and understanding goes a long way!

We're pleased you found our triaging tool Anima easy to use and that you also found our 'call back' service helpful. We have recently implemented a new pathway on the phones for patients to select the appropriate option that will put them through to another department, if that's appropriate.     After a visit to the surgery last week I would like to praise the team. My wife was waiting in a queue to be seen at the queries desk. We had spent the previous night in A and E and needed a prescription changing in order to get it from our local pharmacy. The request was dealt with swiftly and with great kindness. This meant a lot as we were very tired and worried. Thank you. Keep up the good work.

    I received an emergency appointment at the practice and saw one of the duty clinicians. I couldn’t recommend highly enough the care and service received. It was an above and beyond what I have experienced from general practitioners. I felt listened to, and event received a follow up call regarding the treatment after the clinician followed up with a doctor. In the recent times of inconsistent care within the NHS, this goes to show there are still great carers doing fabulous jobs.
