  1. Review titled Refreshing Change

Rated 5 stars out of 5

by Kerrie Johnston - Posted on 31 March 2025

My son and I registered with bmc a couple of weeks ago, so far it's been a good experience but I am waiting for the practice manager to get back to me about something which I'll explain in the review. This is going to be a bit all over as I'm including what we've experienced and the outcome etc. I had a lot of issues with various things at the previous medical centre that I was registered with, so I was very anxious and weary about registering somewhere else but as the issues were causing me a lot of stress I decided to go for it. It only took 2 days for us to register there. I sent an email to the practice once I knew I'd been accepted with a proxy form and reasonable adjustments letter attached, these were apparently passed over to the practice manager which is what I'm waiting to hear back about (would very much appreciate it if someone can get back to me about the reasonable adjustments and proxy). I had an issue with one of my medications, it hadn't been added to my repeat prescription, I emailed the prescription email address and it was dealt with promptly, I then noticed that I needed a review, we did have a little bit of an issue with this, my son went into the practice as he was going in for a blood test and tried to book an appointment for a med review for me, he was told that someone would get back to him about it but they didn't, so today I emailed the prescription email address and around 3 hours later a lady called and spoke to my son about it to see why I needed the review and then said she would put me on a list and I just need to wait for a call for the appointment, she also emailed me to let me know which was very nice of her. They also booked my son a blood test, he went to the appointment 2 hours too early but they were very lovely about it and the nurse let him in anyway, so my son was impressed and today he received a text saying that he needed to book an appointment with regards to his results, this has now been booked by the lady who called about my meds. I'm hoping things continue to go well as I need a medical centre where the staff want to help me as I have various health conditions that make it difficult for me to ask for help and to even speak to or be around people.

  2. Review titled Unable to get a appointment to see a Doctor

Rated 2 stars out of 5

by Anonymous - Posted on 10 February 2025

Last week I attempted twice to make a appointment to see a Doctor. Ist time was #30 in line, used ring back but all receptionist says all bookings gone call back tomorrow. 2nd time same thing happened #30 in line, it takes over 2 hours on the phone at 8am for them to say no appointments call back tomorrow. Can you afford to spend 2 hours on phone using all your money on calls and you still never get a appointment. On saturday I went to UTC instead, waiting another 2 hours did get to see someone and was very helpful. But to get any treatment I have still got to see a Doctor. So what should I do, transfer to another GP ?

Dear Patient Thank you for sharing your experience, and I’m really sorry to hear about the frustration you've faced trying to make an appointment. It’s completely understandable to feel frustrated when you’re unable to secure a timely appointment, especially when it takes so much time and effort. Your time is valuable, and it’s disappointing that the process didn’t meet your expectations. It’s great that you were able to get some help at the UTC, but I understand your concern about needing to see a doctor for further treatment. If you continue to have trouble making appointments, it, it could be helpful to reach out directly to the practice to voice your concerns and see if there’s a way to improve the booking process. Many thanks Kayleigh Practice Manager

  3. Review titled Admin

Rated 2 stars out of 5

by Anonymous - Posted on 18 February 2025

I was considering registering at the practice and at first the admin seemed very polite and helpful, but now they are totally ignoring the emails that I've sent to them requesting help with the registration form as advised by NHS England, I've sent 3 emails so far and nothing, I even tried sending one of the emails from a different account with my name as advised by my friend. A friend of mine tried emailing them to make sure everything was ok with their email etc and he got a response more or less straight away! I'm disabled which I've told them previously, so if they can't help a disabled person then maybe there's no point in me registering there.

  5. Review titled Terrible experience here

by Leila - Posted on 07 October 2024

My appointment was 45 minutes late, waiting in a boiling hot waiting area. Wasn’t apologised to about the wait when I was finally seen, now sweating from the heat. I explained why I had came and when I said something felt out of alignment I got a blunt response of “it’s not”. I continued to explain details of the pain and throughout explaining I was asked 3 times when it started, which felt like he wasn’t listening to me as I’d said it 3 times now. He then gave me a number and I wrote it in my phone. I read it out and he went “that’s not a number”. By this point I felt so patronised and uncomfortable. He gave me the correct number and then went, bluntly again, “read out the rest”. The doctors English wasn’t clear, which is why I’d misheard him so I did not at all appreciate the rudeness and patronising tone when all I had done was be polite and explain my concerns for my injured ankle. I went home and cried because of how rude he was and because of how stupid I was made to feel in there. Very frustrating experience and felt like a total waste of time. Think this place should be shut down and I wish I had the name of this particular doctor as I think he should be fired! I am changing doctors now and urge anyone reading this to not make an appointment here. You will thank me !

Dear Anonymous Thank you for taking the time to leave your feedback about your experience. I am sorry to hear that you experienced difficulty with our phonelines, firstly I would like to say we have recently implemented a new phone system which has seem to work better for our patients to get through to the practice. We are constantly reviewing our appointment system to see what works best for our patients, we also do off extended access appointments which can also be booked through reception. I would like to look into this matter for you if you could either email in nnicb-nn.bilboroughmc@nhs.net or phones us on 01159292354 with your contact details Many thanks Kayleigh Practice Manager

  8. Review titled Awful Surgery.

Rated 1 star out of 5

by Debra - Posted on 06 April 2024

Rang because my daughter was in agony with ear-ache. Told No appointments. The receptionist had no empathy at all. Ended up at Urgent care centre, ( staff here was friendly, caring & helpful.) My daughter was sent to QMC suspected quinsy, ended up staying in over-night, treated with steroids, fluids, antibiotics. Twice now not been able to get an appointment at this practise, staff seem unhelpful & sadly don’t seem to care. I’m looking into moving Dr’s as soon as possible.

  9. Review titled Absolutely hopeless

Rated 1 star out of 5

    by Gemma Morgan-Jones - Posted on 11 March 2024

Where do I begin my tale of woes of trying to get peri-menopause support through this practice? I will say from the outset that it’s practically impossible to get an appointment. And even if - by sheer dogged persistence - you finally manage to get one, there’s no guarantee the doctor will keep it. For example, my doctor has missed a two telephone appointments in the last week: I was told the doctor would call “in the morning” on Thursday which I waited for, but they didn’t call until the afternoon by which time I was at work and not available. Then I was told they would call “on Monday” but they didn’t call at all. At the beginning of this peri-menopause journey last autumn I turned up for an appointment only to discover it didn’t exist - despite having previously made said appointment in person with the receptionist. It turned out they had never actually booked it for me. In recent months I have been so desperate to get an appointment that I have actually gone to queue outside the practice in person for opening time, knowing there will be absolutely no chance of getting through on the phone. Clearly others have resorted to the same approach as when I arrived 15 minutes before opening I was already sixth in the queue. The only person who was successful in getting an appointment on that occasion was the first person in the queue, who had - she said - been waiting there since 7.00am in sub-zero temperatures. On another occasion I called the practice to request an appointment to discuss my recent blood test results. The receptionist told me I was “not allowed” to see a doctor to discuss my blood test results. After some persistence she agreed to check with the doctor and the doctor eventually conceded that an appointment would be acceptable. I really don’t know how you would discuss next steps following blood tests without an appointment?! It’s over 6 months since I started this journey of trying to get peri-menopause support through my GP and I’m no further along than when I started. I cannot actually describe how totally and utterly broken the system is.
