I wanted to thank the GP for his time this morning. As is usual, he listened and came up with positive solutions and options. It is so helpful to have things explained in clear and simple terms. I feel like achieving the best possible level of health is a joint goal. Thank you to the whole team as well.

Review titled Great system
Rated 5 stars out of 5

Having woken up one morning last week to find a rash which I thought to be shingles I attended my local pharmacy (using the pharmacy first pathway) to have this confirmed and treatment was started immediately. Following in from this I used e-consult to request a fit for work note (I’m a nurse and can’t take any chances of passing the chicken pox virus onto susceptible patients) and one was available within 4 hours. Having used over the counter medication for pain relief regularly since diagnosis I called the practice this morning 08.30 to ask for telephone appointment for a prescription medication and have been given an appointment for tomorrow morning. Thank you to everyone involved in my diagnosis and treatment including the very friendly receptionist I spoke to this morning.

It is great to hear that the Pharmacy First pathway is working so well, together with the eConsult system for your sick note. We are pleased that you were able to obtain a telephone appointment and that you found the receptionist to be very friendly. We will pass on this feedback to all those involved. Thank you for taking the time to provide your valuable feedback. Debbie Crossley Practice Manager

The tricky part was getting an appointment. The doctor gave me great advice and explained the treatment and follow-up action needed. Her recommendations made a hugely positive difference to me. Thank you!

Thank you for your feedback regarding your COVID vaccination. This would have been provided by the Bridge Cottage Pharmacy rather than the Surgery. However, I have passed on your feedback to the Pharmacy. Debbie Crossley Practice Manager

Review titled No appointments
Rated 1 star out of 5

Received a letter asking me to make a telephone appointment. Called at 8 - massive queue, held on to be told no appointments left, try again at 12. Called at 1158, queue in excess of 30. No appointments left. How am I supposed to get the appointment a Dr has asked to me to make if there are never any left. Start calling 20mins before appointments are released. Very unsatisfactory state of affairs.

Thank you for your feedback. We are very sorry to hear that you were unable to obtain an appointment when you contacted the Surgery. We have a high demand for appointments at present so would encourage you to keep trying. Our appointments release daily at 8am for mornings and 12pm for afternoons. Appointments release 1, 5 and 10 days in advance. Once again, we are sorry that you were unable to book an appointment when you called. Debbie Crossley Practice Manager

Review titled Unbelievable
Rated 2 stars out of 5
by Brenda Thomas - Posted on 20 June 2023
I called at 8am today - more than 30 people ahead of me. How is this possible?? When I was 15th in the queue there were no more appointments. I hung on, as I have a painful condition needing immediate antibiotics (I have been told this by my Bridge Cottage GP in the past) only to be told to call back at 12pm when I might get a slot in the afternoon. The receptionist suggested that, if I considered it urgent, to go to the Lister! In desperation I have gone to a private on-line GP for antibiotics, which I suspect is what the surgery and the NHS are hoping for. This system is completely broken!! What have I been paying for over all these years?

Dear Patient I am sorry that you were unable to book an appointment on Tuesday morning when you contacted the Surgery. It is unclear whether you tried again at 12pm. We do receive a large amount of calls at the Surgery, particularly at the beginning of the week. If you had contacted us at 12pm and been unable to book a minor illness/emergency appointment then we do have protocols in place to deal with symptoms that need dealing with on the day. Once again, I am sorry that you were unable to book an appointment when you called in the morning. Regards Debbie Crossley Practice Manager

My wife telephoned for an appointment at 8am. Saw GP at 10am. Blood test at the QE2 the same day and scan at the Lister the next day. GP telephoned to feed back on the findings the same day. Appointment at the Lister for treatment the following week. Primary and acute health care at its best.

Review titled Poor systems
Rated 2 stars out of 5

Waited many weeks for a blood test for my daughter but, despite the phlebotomist being available for the appointment, we could do nothing as the forms weren't on the system. After telling us this, these were printed out and we told to re-book at the QE2. Don't understand why these couldn't just be handed to the phlebotomist in the surgery today as it has wasted everybody's time when the NHS is so busy.

Dear Patient I am sorry that you had such a poor experience when attending for a blood test for your daughter. We have been having different phlebotomists at the surgery and this has caused some delays to patients when we have to print the patient forms. Normally, we would ask the phlebotomist to take the bloods whilst you are there, so I am sorry that this did not happen in your case. Once again I am sorry for the inconvenience this caused and thank you for your feedback. Regards Debbie Practice Manager
