  1. Review titled You just can’t get to see a doctor

Rated 1 star out of 5

by RERGCL - Posted on 04 October 2023

    - Can't ever get through when you call, ever. Sometimes you don’t even get to join the queue. - If you get a call back , and it can be days later, if at all, there are never any actual appointments to see the doctor free within 2 weeks and you are not permitted to book one any further in advance. - Phone appointments are 3 weeks away. - Told to come in person at 8am if you are really poorly to be within a chance of an appointment but not guaranteed. Never happens. - Receptionists have given inaccurate results - my partner was told his test results were “fine” and he didn’t need to see the doctor. He insisted on an appointment as the tests were to try and find the cause of his symptoms, and when he finally spoke to the doctor (after nearly a month) he said they weren’t fine at all and he needed further tests and scans. Receptionists make decisions on whether you need to see a doctor. - - As pleasant as they are, and I do understand some things can be guided by them, they should not be deciding post test results whether you should be seeing a doctor or not. Your symptoms don’t go away whatever the results are. - Timeframes for being allowed to call back for results are greatly inflated to delay people coming back. My partner is currently in a vicious cycle of waiting on the phone, waiting for a callback, waiting to be able to make an appointment, waiting for that appointment, waiting for tests, waiting for results, waiting to be able to book an appointment if he can persuade the receptionist he needs one, waiting for the booked appointment…. Hopeless, stressful and upsetting! I imagine the receptionists are very stressed at times and would not be at all surprised if they received som form of abuse from patients which is absolutely unacceptable, but unfortunately the current process and experience is the perfect storm to create stressed responses.

  2. Review titled Good text message service which could be improved

Rated 4 stars out of 5

by Anonymous - Posted on 22 September 2023

The practise has a text message service for pathology results. The results are received promptly and this is a good process. The text messages however do not reference the test conducted, if more than one test was carried out then you do not know which test the results are for. If the text messages could include the name of the test that would be a huge improvement

  3. Review titled Poor Reception service

Rated 3 stars out of 5

    by M Chell - Posted on 25 September 2023

Having called today at 8:00 and selected call back, received call at 9:30 to be told no appointments of any kind, will have to call back tomorrow. Trying to reorder prescription for tablets, had called Friday last week missed 1 call because I could not get to phone in time, rang back to be told a call back would be made, reception informed me that a call had been made at 16:11, that was a lie. We have a call logger and no incoming calls had been received at that time. Why have a call back system that does not allow appointment to be made on the same day, instead have to try again another day, this could go on forever and never speak to any body.

  5. Review titled Shambolic system

Rated 1 star out of 5

Following blood tests I received an email with a link to book an appointment to discuss my long term condition. I followed the link, chose a time and date and was allocated an ‘in person’ appointment with a Dr. I checked in using the screen at the surgery just before my appointment time which was 10:00 today. After waiting 30 minutes, I was called over and informed that my appointment was with the pharmacist, he doesn’t do face to face appointments and I was next on his list for a telephone call. I did let them know how unhappy I was, to no avail. My call came at 12:00. Initially the gent didn’t appear to know why he was calling me. Luckily as the call progressed we discussed my current medication regime and blood results. During the call he told me that the Drs wanted me to have follow up with the nurse and that the reception staff should have let me know that this needed to happen when I called for my blood results. They hadn’t. He apologised for the mistake regarding the face to face appointment and assured me that he has spoken to the reception staff and it should not happen again. I have very little confidence left in Carlton Street as a surgery and this is a shame as at one time it was a decent place.

  6. Review titled Absolutely terrible practice

Rated 1 star out of 5

Called to book a review for my prescription as it couldnt be reissued automatically surprise surprise no appointments available for 3 weeks and then was told its not an emergency until you run out then we will get you some meds issued anyway so call back daily to see if you can get an appointment surely this is a total waste of my time/your resource and NHS money, you need to look at your processes so when people need a review you automatically book them in early enough that they do not run out of meds. Really poor service yet again from this surgery.

I have high colestrol and blood pressure plus heart disease I'm on medication, but have received my statines since january. Ive had a blood test and been told my colestrole is higher. I need another test to see if its come down. How can it come down when I don't receive my meds. My chemist says it's the doctors my doctors say it's the chemist. The chemist has given me the email which shows they asked for the meds on the 24th May. These meds are to stop you having a heart attack.

  9. Review titled Awful healthcare - avoid

Rated 1 star out of 5

by Anonymous - Posted on 10 May 2023

Used 111 over the weekend and fairly promptly got a course of antibiotics for a UTI for my unwell grandmother. Told by the 111 GP to contact our own surgery after the weekend and give a urine sample as in over 65’s a urine dip is not reliable and urine sample is useful to identify bugs. Went to the surgery today and they told us they couldn’t give me a bottle as they weren’t the ones who requested it? I don’t know how they expect us to magically retrieve a urine sample bottle from a telephone healthcare service? Reception staff have no understanding or compassion.
