  1. Review titled Glad I changed to Carrington House

Rated 5 stars out of 5

by Anonymous - Posted on 28 July 2024

I changed to this practice about a year ago and I've had nothing but good experiences here. Really helpful reception staff on the phone and in person. Clinical staff have been great. I needed to see the physio last week, I called and got an appointment the same afternoon. Really knowledgeable and helpful chap. Emailed me all the exercises I need to do, clearly explained everything. Really grateful for the services you offer. Thank you!

  3. Review titled Continued disappointment

Rated 1 star out of 5

by An unimportant patient - Posted on 07 August 2024

I recently had to make an appointment to review a continued prescription. The surgery only offers on the day appointments and the lines open at the same time I begin work. After three attempts of booking the appointment (across 3 non consecutive days) I was finally able to speak to a member of the reception and informed I would have an appointment with the nurse in a weeks time. After I explained I was going to be on holiday and I had now run out of my prescription I was told I could have an telephone consultation on that day providing I could supply a blood pressure reading, for which I would need to go in to reception for prior. I took my lunch break early and was able to provide the blood pressure result prior. The doctor rang and confirmed he would send the prescription. After work I attended the pharmacy to be told that it had not been sent. They were very good and were able to provide an emergency supply to tide me over as I was traveling the next day. On my return they prescription had still not been sent. I called the reception mid morning, early afternoon and the next mid morning. No one answered and I left a message on vm. No one ever came back to me, so I visited in person to be told the doctor did not issue a prescription. I asked does it include a reason for my appointment on the notes and eventually the receptionist was able to issue the prescription to the pharmacy. So after 2 weeks to book the on the day appointment, offer of an appointment on a weeks time, 2 trips to the doctors for a telephone appointment and then two weeks for the prescription to reach the pharmacy, it's a good job I'm not elderly or shy. Your system is incredibly complicated, and you run your surgery like a Russian communist business, where that fact we are enlisted is enough to gain money from us, you do not need to provide a service as well.

Good morning Thank you for your feedback, I would like to assure you all patients are important. I am sorry you have had experienced difficulty whilst trying to order your prescription. We require BP readings for some medications to ensure you are still safe to take the medication. We have several ways to book an appointment, by Telephone and Patient Access you can also complete an Econsult. Please look at our website for additional information https://buckshealthservices.co.uk/carrington-house-surgery. As you have posted anonymously I am unable to look into what happened when the prescription was sent to the GP and why it wasn't signed off and sent to the pharmacy. If you require further help please do call us and speak to our reception team and they will be able to assist you further. Kind Regards Debbie Comley Practice Manager

  5. Review titled No appointments apparently

Rated 1 star out of 5

by Mike - Posted on 30 April 2024

Phoned yesterday at 8.30 but there is a prerecorded message claiming no appointments available yet but you hold in the queue of 20 odd people there are slots available. How many people miss out on needed healthcare because of attempts to stop people booking? Scary how difficult it is to see someone now and there is always an excuse.

Good afternoon Mike Thank you for taking the time to leave a review. The message is switched on to let patients know when all of the on the day appointments have been booked. If you have an urgent issue this can be discussed with the reception team and if you require a same day appointment this may be able to be arranged for you. If you not able to get an appointment on the phone you can also try using econsult and patient access. You can find the details on our webiste Kind Regards

  6. Review titled No appointments available

Rated 2 stars out of 5

by Anonymous - Posted on 28 March 2024

We have been trying to get an appointment for the past 2 weeks. My husband has asthma and was having difficulties breathing. We were offered an appointment in April. That was three weeks away. We eventually called 111 and there were no emergency appointments available at the surgery so we went to the hospital. We were told that he needs a medication that can only be prescribed by the doctor but when we try to call the surgery we can never get an appointment or have even been able to talk to anyone. We have been greeted by a voicemail each time. It is very disappointing that we cannot even get to talk to a doctor.

Dear Anonymous I am sorry you have been experiencing problems getting an appointment, we have been short staffed due to sickness. Unfortunately as I do not know who you are I am unable to investigate this for you. You can wait on the phone to speak to a receptionist, the voicemail is just informing you if we have no on the day appointments left. Have you tried our alternative methods of booking an appointment? Patient access and econsult (details can be found on our website https://www.carringtonhousesurgery.nhs.uk/ ) If you require further help please do call us and speak to our reception team and they will be able to assist you further.

  7. Review titled Extremely bad service from the Reception team

Rated 1 star out of 5

by Anonymous - Posted on 08 March 2024

Been trying all week to get a doctors appointment from Reception for my 3 year old been told to call 8:30 to get a same day appointment it’s now Friday and after 5 days of trying been told I cannot get an appointment and next available date is next month 8th April which is 4 weeks away when my toddler is sick and up all night. Do not join this surgery worse decision my life all I need is my child to be seen by my GP and get a referral for private treatment and I can’t get a face to face appointment. Worse NHS surgery! Reception staff are so unhelpful!

  8. Review titled Bad experience - not patient friendly

Rated 1 star out of 5

by Anonymous - Posted on 06 December 2023

Over last few weeks , unable to get appointments for my self and my child. Had to go to urgent care. Appointments are all gone when you ring at 8.30. Then we needed travel vaccines and these specific ones are free on the NHS. I was told they haven’t got them and to get them from a local pharmacy. Where they are £35 , £38, £45 each. So for a family u are paying a huge amount. They are free on the NHS. Tetanus, Typhoid and Hepatitis A are all free travel vaccines. Why do we have to pay then. ? I have been working for the NHS for over 30 years and i am absolutely disgusted by this surgery, no appointments and no vaccines when you need them. I would rate them 2/10. When we registered in 2013 i would have given them 10/10. Over the years with change of staff/drs the service provided now is of a poor standard!

We have several ways to book an appointment, by Telephone and Patient Access you can also complete an Econsult. Please look at our website for additional information https://buckshealthservices.co.uk/carrington-house-surgery When you collected the travel forms from reception you were advised these need to be completed 6 weeks prior to travelling, you were travelling in less than 2 weeks which does not allow us enough time to process your request especially with a large group. You still decided to complete the forms, unfortunately we were not able to help with such short notice. We have given you a detailed response to your email. Kind Regards Debbie Practice Manager

  9. Review titled Don't use technology correctly

Rated 1 star out of 5

by Anonymous - Posted on 04 September 2023

The surgery don't help themselves. Yes, they are understaffed, but they don't make use of the technology they have. They post around 2 appointments a day on patient access and only turn on econsult for about 20 minutes. Why not leave econsult on 24hrs a day and process in the order received? Much more could be done to make the service more efficient than it is today. Whenever you visit the surgery it is empty of patients but full of admin staff sitting behind the desk having a chinwag. There is no urgency to greet you. Please enable the technology to improve access to services. It is a waste of public funds buying a service you use for a tiny percentage of the time.

Dear Anonymous I am sorry you feel we are not making use of our technology. We do have patient access and Econsult and we use these within our capacity. It would be unsafe for us to leave Econsult on and work through it in order as serious issues could get missed. Our staff do not stand around and chinwag they are quite possibly discussing other patients, they are there to help and assist patients. Kind Regards
