Review titled Receptionst
Rated 3 stars out of 5
by Anonymous - Posted on 12 November 2024
I would like to leave some feedback. I have never received any bad service from you. It took a lot for my husband however to contact you as I was forcing him. He hasn't been in a good way. He's mobility has decreased significantly and started feeling dizzy this morning. He called through the receptionist who sighed at him for not filling out a form. I understand everything is online but I also filled out a form yesterday and I have an appointment at the end of the month, hence why I deemed he should call. I'm so disappointed that your receptionist signed at my husband and told him off, she could have spoken to him nicely and explained the process. He barely contacts you. I get it's just a job for her but as a receptionist she should have more compassion!! It puts people off contacting you in a serious situation. Please don't sign at your patients.

Review titled Empathetic and thorough
Rated 5 stars out of 5
by Jayde Morton - Posted on 11 October 2024
I moved to Wantage just under two years ago and I can honestly say that every GP that I have had an appointment with at Church Street have been brilliant. Thorough, understanding and kind. I would also like to comment that the reception staff are extremely helpful and approachable. People are very quick to voice the negative so I wanted to share my positive experiences. We recently have had a baby and the surgery as a whole have been nothing but helpful and kind. The staff deserve some recognition.

Review titled Outstanding efficiency for Covid/Flu vaccinations
Rated 5 stars out of 5
by Thomas Cunningham - Posted on 05 October 2024
My wife and I attended Church St Practice today to receive Covid and Flu vaccinations along with a large number of other older recipients . The organisation of the service was outstanding: many vaccination stations, sufficient and very pleasant staff, welcome lack of bureaucracy, well thought out entrance/exit arrangements. Full marks also for arranging this slightly ahead of the official NHS "kickoff" date. We are very pleased to be associated with this practice.

Review titled Telephone appointments with GPs
Rated 3 stars out of 5
by Anonymous - Posted on 17 September 2024
I was sent a text informing me the GP would ring me between 8.30am - 1pm. I carried my phone around with me from 8.30am until 11.30am when I went to the toilet and forgot to take it with me. When I checked my phone at 11.45am I had a missed call notification and an irritated message from the GP saying they may try and call me again after clinic. I have no idea when their clinic finishes so I don't know what time that might be. This system is clearly not working for patients or GPs. It is a waste of everyone's time to miss calls, it is stressful for patients to have to wait for a call for hours with no clue when it will come and should patients really be expected to blank out four and a half hours of their day to wait by their phone? It is just not practical, especially for those who work. I would suggest a better system would be to have a proper booking system along the lines of face to face appointments, with GPs given a block of time within their day for telephone appointments during which they work through the allotted time slots, rather than trying to fit them in between face to face appointments, which seems to be the case at present. I believe telephone appointments could benefit both patients and GPs as a way of saving time but they need to be given the same priority as face to face appointments with smaller time slots.

Thank you to all the staff and a special thanks to the doctor I had the appointment with (names are not allowed) for going above and beyond. Her patience, kindness and professionalism during my brief consultation has put my mind at peace.

Review titled Disinterested, rude, couldn’t care or just over worked
Rated 1 star out of 5
by Anonymous - Posted on 28 December 2023
I do repeat prescriptions, have not been able to get a particular drug for 14 months. Told it’s unavailable but no alternatives offered or advice given. The only communication I have is a text from the surgery telling me it’s closed (3 times in as many months for staff training). Crikey - what are they being trained to do - be rude, disinterested, belligerent?? Cannot recommend this practise. Go anywhere else…..

Review titled incompetent reception staff
Rated 2 stars out of 5
by Anonymous - Posted on 30 October 2023
waited in the queue today and spoke to receptionist who said that she couldn't hear me and that it kept cutting out. She could hear me some of the time asked for my date of birth etc, then cut me off. I phoned back to say I'd been cut off to which the reply was ' How can I help you?'Not sorry at all, absolutely dreadful.

Review titled What a shambles compared to pre covid
Rated 2 stars out of 5
by Simon J - Posted on 26 May 2023
Phoned today at 13:49 told number 28 in que, programmed for call back, after 1 hour nothing so called again at 15:00hrs told my number was not 3 in que, this remained the same for 35 minutes before i moved to caller number 2. The phone system at this practice is shockingly poor, seems no pride or real care about patients being able to speak to someone, after nearly 2 hrs got to the front and was answered by receptionist, i asked if possible to speak to a diabetic nurse or could i have a call back as the nurse had changed my medication i that i am suffering with blinding headaches, i wanted to know if i could stop the medication. Was told by receptionist that earliest available appointment would be 8 June 2023 (13 days time), when i mentioned the length of time was told nothing i could do and that i should call 111. Whilst i support the NHS the service is really not fit for purpose and patient care has gone to the back of the que. Very very frustrating

Review titled Very bad administration and rude nurse practitioner
Rated 2 stars out of 5
by Anonymous - Posted on 15 February 2023
New to the local area? Think twice before registering with this surgery. They are totally inept with their administration. The doctors are nice and helpful and sometimes they utilise paramedics to assist with demand, all of whom are great. They lose prescriptions and take days to sign them off which is difficult when medication is required urgently. Had dealings with a nurse practitioner today who was passive aggressive and very quick to jump down your throat over an administrational error that was their fault as a surgery. Rude, and not acceptable. Newbury Street have worse Google reviews but seem to fare better on here. Will be moving across shortly.
