Review titled Outstanding care & treatment
Rated 5 stars out of 5
by Linda Holmes - Posted on 16 February 2024
Yesterday I visited the Corby Urgent Care Centre due to an acute health condition. I want to say a massive thank you to the doctor and nurses who cared for me throughout investigations and observations. They made me feel at ease and safe in their care, taking time to listen to my explanation of symptoms and related previously diagnosed conditions. The doctor who treated me was very calm and explained throughly about what tests showed and patiently answered all my questions. I am so pleased to say that 4 antibiotics and 3 anti-sickness tablets later, I feel so much better for the first time in a week. Keep up the great work Team Corby - you are all amazing and really do make a massive difference and are greatly appreciated - very many thanks!

Review titled Didn’t even check my son
Rated 1 star out of 5
by Anonymous - Posted on 10 February 2024
I came to the clinic today with my 1 year old son who had a high temperature and very unwell. They took his temperature (38.9 at the time) and got a Dr in to see us who said just to go to a&e. At this time they did not listen to his heart, check his ears or throat at all. No checks were done whatsoever. The reason being for being sent to a&e was that they close at 8pm. However it was only 6pm when I was seen! I didn’t want to go to a&e with my poorly son on a Saturday night when it was quite clear he had an ear infection and could have been dealt with there and then. I drove home and upon reflection felt frustrated by the “care” received so phoned the clinic to say we were coming back and I would like the Dr to actually check my sons ears and throat and listen to his chest (as any good practitioner should!) but the receptionist actually laughed and said “you’re wasting your time” and hung up the phone on me. I would like to point out that at no point did I get angry or raise my voice at any member of staff so I am very shocked by the treatment today.

Review titled This is how medical care should be everywhere
Rated 5 stars out of 5

Called here after calling my local surgery and not being able to get an appointment. Friendly and polite receptions staff, clinical staff were very professional and thorough. In and out with a prescription in an hour and the waiting room was fairly busy. Makes me wonder why all our surgeries can't be organised like this?

Review titled Under par service!
Rated 3 stars out of 5
by Nada - Posted on 11 December 2023
Mum had a chest infection, and was coughing a lot and in pain, she has other ailments not related and these were heightened while sitting in the surgery waiting. She is 81 and in poor health anyway, we were told a two hour wait which I thought was bad but do-able! We had to wait almost 4.5 hours to be seen!! Yes, it was busy, there were lots of sick people there and I was told by the lady on reception twice that my mother had possibly been pushed down the queue due to more urgent emergencies presenting, but could not find my mums name initially and am sure something went wrong somewhere in their system. I thought how ridiculous, there were women with UTIs going ahead of my mum, younger and fitter (I spoke to 2 of them) and they came in after us, how can they assess what is more urgent as and when new people come to the surgery? There did not appear to be many doctors, everything was grinding to a halt, we were on the verge of walking out, I could have stayed but my mum was crying by then and was at the end of her tether, then we were finally called in to be seen, he was a smashing doctor, very caring as he could see mum was stressed. I would not presume to blame him or have a go at him directly but you need to sort out the service especially when extremely busy, don’t fall apart and treat the young and elderly with more respect. The ladies on reception were “cold” in their demeanour and I did not appreciate that, yes their job is difficult, sitting down and speaking to lots of sick people but they should at least have more enthusiasm to change things or help in other ways, it’s not just a job it should be a vocation for all NHS workers.

Review titled Excellent Care Received
Rated 5 stars out of 5
by Anonymous - Posted on 01 January 2024
The centre was very clean including the toilets, in fact the cleaner was busy cleaning as I was there. Triage was efficient as were receptionists where I was warned of up to a 4 hour wait to see a Doctor. In fact I was in and out within 2 hours and received excellent care. The Dr I saw was very thorough and listened to what I was saying. I wish everywhere was like this. Excellent job Corby Urgent Care Centre, thank you.

My husband received excellent care at the urgent care centre today. The nurse who saw my husband was efficient, empathetic and extremely professional. My husband was booked to have an X-ray- The radiographer was such a lovely kind caring person. Thank you all of you for your excellent care and for helping to ease my worries and concerns.

Review titled Corby lucky to have this facility
Rated 5 stars out of 5

Caring staff and really well organised. Despite being incredibly busy the triarge and treatment process is really well managed, the accessibility of this facility 7 days a week provides an excellent service, the staff are clearly working under a lot of pressure but maintain a caring patient focused service.

Review titled Refused Entry
Rated 1 star out of 5

We visited on 3/9/23 at 7.55pm approx. The doors were locked and there were no members of the public around, however the security guard let us in. The receptionist then told us we were too late as the surgery was closed from 8pm. When I pointed out that it wasn’t yet 8pm, the receptionist told me that the doctor would just send us to a&e. If the surgery is advertised as 8-8, then it should be operational from 8-8.

Review titled Terrible care
Rated 1 star out of 5
by Anonymous - Posted on 07 October 2023
I came to the walk in centre on the Saturday evening of the bank holiday. I had terrible ear ache for days which was getting worse. I was seen by a nurse who said there was nothing wrong with me ans sent me home. On Sunday morning. I was in agony and my face had started to swell. So I came back again and was seen by a different nurse who said I had a slight infection and prescribed oral Antibiotics. Later that afternoon the pain worsened and I was out at the shop and talking to my partner , when a passer by overheard and told me they were a Dr and I should go to A& E immediately as the infection was tracking down my neck. Arriving at A&E I was seen and they called ENT to see me - who told me I had a severe ear infection - my ear canal had closed up it was so swollen. They were shocked when I told them I had been the day before and earlier that day to your walk in centre and told nothing was wrong with me. I should have been given Oral Antibiotics and Ear antibiotic drops on the Saturday evening. If your staff are so incompetent not to be able to diagnose an ear infection then I fear for people with serious problems.
