  1. Review titled Excellent first impression

Rated 5 stars out of 5

by Elizabeth King - Posted on 18 October 2023

After a numberof disappointing experiences with Compass House, Brixham - which I moved to after moving house - I re-registered with Corner Place Brixham. The reason for doing this was because I am recovering from cancer and I requested an appointment for something that is worrying me to be told I must wait two weeks!! I registered with Corner Place on a Friday - accepted on the Saturday - spoke to a very understanding care navigator Monday and was seen by a lovely GP and medical student that afternoon. I fully understand the pressures in primary care being a retired nurse myself, but it is so important not to lose a caring approach. Thank you Corner Place - my first impressions were excellent!

  2. Review titled Poor surgery.

Rated 1 star out of 5

by Anonymous - Posted on 19 September 2023

Waited a week and a half to get call back from gp, only to have the referral I requested refused, despite being told by the mental health team this was what was required. I have constantly faced inaction by this surgery, who seem to not believe me, or pass the buck to other services. Not fit for purpose.

  3. Review titled Going downhill fast

Rated 1 star out of 5

by Anonymous - Posted on 06 September 2023

Told to expect call from Dr between morning and evening. Pretty much all day. Called 3 times in 8 minute window. Unable to answer. Told to rebook. Spend too much time waiting for answer but now done. Onus seems to be on patient. Why can’t you try 3 times for different times? Back to square one now. Maybe time for a change as now have to wait another two weeks. Very disappointing and feel let down - as if it’s my fault???!! This is not the first time either.

Dear Patient Thank you for your feedback. We are sorry to hear that you are not happy with the recent service you have received from us. Whilst we appreciate that in an ideal world we can ring patients at different times during the day, in practice this is not always possible with the numbers of patients we have contact with. We do our best to fit around patients by trying to avoid particular times of day if requested, but this is not always possible. If an issue gets worse, we would always be happy to review this with a Doctor and this may result in a call sooner, but again we can never say what time that will be. I am sorry you feel disappointed, let down and that this is your fault. This is not the case. It is the system and the pressures General Practice are facing. We are always happy to discuss any issues in person if you so wish. Please contact our Practice Manager (Evie Langman) Many thanks Clare (Patient Services Manager)

  4. Review titled Really thorough examination by Dr

Rated 5 stars out of 5

by Anonymous - Posted on 04 September 2023

Following months of shoulder and neck pain I finally decided to go and see a doctor. I cannot praise the doctor’s thoroughness highly enough to investigate and support further . I was advised I would need 2 Radiology scans, the doctor would write to the hospital and I am super impressed I received two appointments in less than two weeks of visiting a doctor. Fantastic follow-up.

  5. Review titled poor excuse for a gp prctice

Rated 1 star out of 5

by Anonymous - Posted on 27 April 2023

No physical contact with a gp. Hours waiting for the to answer the phone. 2 week wait for even a call back ( if you can get one ). They refer to each other as " doctor " but don't actually do any " doctoring ". They simply do not do what says on the tin. They are good at redirecting patients to other resources which are equally inadequate. They employ " navigators" to do just that. It is often said that GP's bury their mistakes ,but we will have join a very long queue to get them to issue a death certificate. Such a shame !!

Dear patient Thank you for your feedback. I'm sorry you are not happy with the service you have received. We are still seeing patients face to face, but the Doctors do have to prioritise these patients as there are a lot of issues they can deal with over the phone and we do not have the capacity to see every patient unfortunately. We appreciate the calls at times are very busy and we do our best to answer them as quickly as possible. Our new telephone system does allow patients to request a call back so this will help with queue times. Our Health Care Navigators do sit in a room with a Doctor who advises them what to do with each patient. Our Practice Manager is always happy to discuss specific cases if you were to contact the practice in writing if you wish. Many thanks Clare (Patient Services Manager)

  6. Review titled Extra mile

Rated 5 stars out of 5

by Anonymous - Posted on 24 April 2023

My recent experience at my surgery was outstanding. The Dr who dealt with me had a terrific manner and explained everything , he also didn’t over promise and all tests and appointments were achieved. I would recommend the Dr to anyone for ‘going the extra mile ‘making me feel comfortable and ensuring I understood the issues Thank you

  7. Review titled What a shamble

Rated 1 star out of 5

by Anonymous - Posted on 04 May 2023

I've just been removed from cornerplace after 30 years. This practice has become an awfull, uncaring, rude above all a terrible doctors to have if you are ill. I was treated sooo badly. That I gave them a few words of my own. And for that reason I have been removed. I would definitely not recommend this surgery I half of the patients I look after are all saying how dreadful Cornerplace surgery has become. Gonna take something to sort this shambles out. So I've got a new surgery now. And just going into the surgery the difference they were polite and cheerful. Good start hey.

We are sorry to hear that you were not happy with the services we provide. We do however have a zero tolerance policy to protect our staff and this would be the only reason for your removal as would have been explained in the letter you would have received. We wish you all the best at your new practice. Thanks Clare (Patient Services Manager)

  8. Review titled Great practice

Rated 4 stars out of 5

by Anonymous - Posted on 10 March 2023

Been with the surgery since I was a child and always been happy with the service. Recently had to take my toddler in. I always do an econsult, with a quick response and text or call to advise next step. Visited an ANP yesterday for my son who was brilliant with him, explaining what he needed to do and making him laugh. Had to do another econsult this afternoon as he is feeling worse and have been called quickly and booked for a sit and wait appointment. Can’t fault the surgery and very pleased with the service they always provide. Thank you

  9. Review titled Feedback form wont work

Rated 2 stars out of 5

by Georgie Tsyplek - Posted on 03 February 2023

I visited the surgery yesterday, as I could not log in on line, even though the technical department had solved a glitch in the system and was given a link at reception, to sort the problem, which worked. I was then sent a link on my phone, today, which is not smart, so transferred it to computer and it does not work. I therefore cannot give feedback to say please use email only, not to send a txt with a link I can never use! I cannot reply to the txt and there is no email system of contact to explain this. It is the most frustrating and difficult surgery to contact or communicate with as it makes every simple task so complicated, with so many hurdles, that sick people give up trying when unwell, as they do not have the energy for this.

Very sorry to hear that you have had trouble communicating this to us. I have now added a code to your records so you will no longer receive text messages from us and only emails. If you have access to a computer, the best way to communicate with us for routine queries is by sending in an accurx e-consultation. Available via our website www.cornerplacesurgery.co.uk 'contact your GP online' or via the 'NHS App' if you have that downloaded to your computer. Many thanks Clare (Patient Services Manager)

  10. Review titled Poor

Rated 2 stars out of 5

by James - Posted on 20 December 2022

Sent in my E consultation as it was impossible to break through on the phone to make an actual appointment , received a reply that a doctor will phone me in 10 days time between 08:00 and 18:00 to discuss my symptoms ! I’m looking forward to monitoring my phone for 10 hours that day and hoping my symptoms don’t worsen by then over the Xmas period !

Dear James We are trying to encourage patients to use our e-consultation service to free up the phone lines for more urgent medical queries. If your symptoms had worsened and you had contacted the surgery, I would like to reassure you that that would have been discussed with a Doctor. I'm sorry you felt that the time given to expect a call was not convenient, however due to increasing demand, it is not possible to be more specific. The Doctor will always try you twice, so if the first call was missed, they would always try you again. I hope this goes some way to reassure you. Many thanks Clare (Patient Services Manager)
