Review titled Wonderful receptionist - made my day
Rated 5 stars out of 5
by Susan - Posted on 16 June 2023
Very considerate receptionist. Having explained my predicament, including not hearing the telephone ring, they very kindly agreed I could call back in an hours time. In that hour they had worked their magic and sorted out my issue for me via the doctor. They were empathic and so kind, they really are a marvellous example of a terrific receptionist enabling doctors and their patients to resolve issues promptly. Thank you so much.

Review titled Indifferent and unprofessional
Rated 1 star out of 5
by Vladimer Bittner - Posted on 29 January 2023
I was recommended to Denmark Road Surgery after I moved to Bournemouth 8 years ago. It used to be a really good practice, I didn’t go for appointments very often, but when I did, I left feeling confident that I had been well taken care of. Unfortunately, not anymore, both Doctors I had, have since left, I have no clue who my Doctor is. The nightmare began at the beginning of December when I husband requested a repeat prescription online because I had run out of my medication. I suffer from chronic Laryngitis, it’s kept under control with inhalers, nasal sprays and occasional Codeine. My request was denied, and I had to wait until January for a refill. I applied on January 21st, and received a text saying I had a phone appointment on Monday January 23rd at 09:15, this was cancelled by text from Denmark Road, and I was told to ring the surgery at 13:00 to make another appointment. Needless to say the line was continually busy, so another wait. Finally I got through and was given a 14:00 appointment on Tuesday the 24th. No one called ! Then I noticed that the nasal spray prescription had been filled and sent to Lloyds online pharmacy in London instead of Winton Pharmacy!! Yet another call to the surgery only to be met by indifference, saying they had no record that I was supposed to get a call at 14:00, and to call Winton Pharmacy myself and give them the barcode so they could fill the prescription. On Wednesday I decided to go to the surgery to explain what I needed. To cut a long story short, I have since been given an appointment on February 20th, then the 10th and now the 7th. As a last resort I tried e-consult, listing my medical needs, and referenced my pertaining medical records. I received a text denying my request (who knows why), telling me someone will call on February 7th. Needless to say, I have no faith in this surgery at all. I hardly ever go to the doctors and this is what happens when I need a prescription filling, and the problem is to date, not resolved. Please be aware I am not criticising the NHS, I have the utmost respect for the nurses, doctors and paramedics. What I am criticising is the complete indifference I have experienced, as a result of this I am changing my doctor.

Review titled Good GPs, very curt and unhelpful 'phone answerer'
Rated 3 stars out of 5
by Anonymous - Posted on 17 December 2022
My 90-year old neighbour rang, short of breath and needing to see a GP. Was told, curtly, 'ring back after one'. She tried to explain but received the same response. She rang her daughter, who then rang the practice and was allocated a phone appointment for my neighbour that morning. Lovely GP, said 'we need to see you' and my neighbour was duly given an appointment for late that morning and prescribed antibiotics and inhaler. Neighbour is still upset due to uncaring, abrupt attitude of 'phone answerer' (don't know who this lady is).

Review titled Impossible to get an appointment
Rated 1 star out of 5

Impossible to get an appointment. They tell you ring at 8am for an appointment but the phone line is constantly engaged as they are obviously so busy with everyone having been told the exact same thing. You cannot even get through to queue in the automated system - that is how busy the phones are!! After this time there are no appointments available for the rest of the day and you are then told to ring the next day at 8am where you go through the entire debacle again. Ridiculous system and I'm looking for another GP practice now as this is just unacceptable.
