  1. Review titled Not a great practice

Rated 1 star out of 5

by Anonymous - Posted on 06 July 2024

Tried ringing to sort out my health problems and as usual got nowhere fast. Was treated with lack of understanding, impatience, and couldn’t care less. Do they not realise they are the first and only line of communication to actually get to see a GP?Absolutely disgraceful.

  2. Review titled Use to be Fantastic - better off with a vet now.

Rated 1 star out of 5

Impossible to get appointments when I eventually did was Prescribed the wrong antibiotics and ended up in hospital with urgent care. No follow up was made by the GP to see if the antibiotics were working and what was a minor infection has progressed. No ownership from the practice.

Was there yet again and came out feeling as if I had been bullied and railroaded by the person I saw into agreeing with that person that I was getting good treatment when that is not the case at all

  4. Review titled Terrible practice

Only found out today by accident that they had messed up my monthly prescription when they updated their system months ago. I did wonder what was going wrong but they finally admitted it today. However no apology was forthcoming.I find the doctors are inexperienced as they wouldn’t have messed up my treatment so badly. They are either incompetent or inexperienced. Some of the receptionists have such a bad attitude I certainly would not employ them. Trouble is,the doctors have no control over the clerical staff and vice versa so lack ok communication between the is bound to cause problems and rubbish service. The place is a shambolic mixture of incompetent staff on both sides.

  5. Review titled Overcrowded Practice

Rated 3 stars out of 5

by Anonymous - Posted on 30 April 2024

I am astounded to find out that the Denmark Street practice is taking on more patients when it is clearly unable to give proper service to the ones it already has. A friend has already changed practice and is urging me to do also however I am very satisfied with the doctor I am with when I can get an appointment. Also as if the waiting time for a phone call isn't bad enough I am incensed that I am cut off after 60 minutes. This means another phone call for possibly another 60 minutes when I really don't feel up to it and there is a terrible music to listen to which makes me feel worse.

Dear Patient, Thank you for your feed back, We are sorry that you have felt the standard of service at Denmark Street Surgery has warranted this review. I am happy to see that you are satisfied with the care you are receiving from your GP. We always have our patient registration lists open for new patients to register with the surgery. Due to patient demand we briefly suspended our patient registration list in 2023. Since then we have expanded our entire workforce including clinicians and administration staff. This has increased our appointment capacity that we offer to our patients. The current practice workforce includes: 10 GP Partners 2 Salaried GP's 5 GP Registrars 2 Nurse Practitioners 2 Paramedics 1 Pharmacist 6 Practice Nurses 4 Health Care Assistants 1 Trainee Nurse Associate Approx. 25 Administration Staff I understand that it can be frustrating to be placed in a queueing system when trying to contact the practice. We adopted a new telephone system in 2022 which allows up to 100 patients to join the queueing system. I have reviewed our telephone data for the month of April 2024, the average queue length for a patient was 06m 47s. In the previous April 2023 our average queue length was 12m 02s, our patient liaison team have halved the wait time for patients and they continue to provide this service. Our telephone system terminates calls that have been queueing for longer than 60 minutes however it would be extremely rare for a patient to be in the queueing system for that length of time. I am sorry to learn that you do not enjoy the music that is provided, this will be reviewed. Kind Regards Amy Norton Patient Services Manager

  6. Review titled Not accessible

Rated 1 star out of 5

No services are provided for patients who are not able to call. In spite of highlighting accessibility issues no reasonable adjustments were made or offered by the practice.

Dear Patient, Thank you for your feedback. Depending on which service you are requiring we have a variety of different ways to contact the practice without calling. To request medical or administration advice we have an e-consultation service which is an online triage platform that collects your medical and administrative requests and sends it through to our Practice for assessment. We have online appointments available for patients to book through the website and systmOnline. Prescription requests can be made through the SystmOnline and the NHS app. You can email your prescription requests through to our dedicated prescription email address darccg.prescriptions.denmarkstreet@nhs.net. Requests can be made in person at reception by filling in a form and posting in our prescription box at the reception desk alternatively you can send your request by post to the practice, please see our address below: Denmark Street Surgery Denmark Street Darlington DL3 0PD For any other queries can be emailed to denmark.street@nhs.net. 8. Review titled Words fail me at the inadequacies of this practice

Rated 2 stars out of 5

by Anonymous - Posted on 29 July 2023

Begged for blood sugar results for my diabetes. Must be Top Secret as the receptionist refused 3 times to tell me in the last 2 days. Diabetic nurse doesn’t listen at all. I don’t hear well and had to use phone outside on loudspeaker in desperation. Don’t go there. Wish I didn’t. Can’t even synchronise my prescription at Boots. What useless bunch.

  9. Review titled Don't bother

Rated 1 star out of 5

by Anonymous - Posted on 28 July 2023

You can hardly ever get an appointment here, and when you do it's a telephone appointment, the Dr won't call you and then when you call the surgery for an update you are met with an uncaring receptionist, who blames you for not answering despite having your phone on full signal and not moving all afternoon while waiting for the call. After 16 attempts to get an appointment this has happened. This surgery is a joke

  10. Review titled Go elsewhere this surgery is terrible

Rated 1 star out of 5

I have been unable to get an appointment since before the pandemic and now I can't even get a repeat prescription for meds that have terrible side effects when stopped ,Its impossible to get through if you work, people who work can not ring at 8am and spend over a hour trying to get through only then to be told there's noting left call back tomorrow at 8am and do it all again or we can't do that you need to do it online however to do it online you need to register I have tryed many times to do this and its failed every time ,I'm at the point now where I have had to accept that I no longer have access to a gp this doctors surgery is terrible and does not serve the needs of the people in the community its a complete failure Update went in at 8am to get a repeat prescription the receptionist was rude and hostile and I was told to fill out the form and put it in the box even I explained I ran out 4 days ago and the side effects are very bad when you stop suddenly but she was not interested in trying to help and rudely told me to put the form in the box this is why health care should never be privately run it took a week to get a repeat prescription Update Got a phone call from a doc he was hard to understand as he had a foreign accent and his English was not great he did not help me at all telling me he did not have time to talk as he had other calls and give the wrong advice what he said about coming off meds was not what it says on other doctors websites and the nhs website so save yourself some time and the tax payers some money and Google any problems you have this surgery is a joke its crazy but we now live In country without working doctors surgerys but this is what you get with private health care in charge I think the doctor I was talking to must get a commission for stopping patients from coming off meds they don't need or want telling me I need to stay on them for years which I know not to true

Dear Patient Thank you for your feedback We are sorry that you have felt the standard of service at Denmark Street Surgery has warranted this review. We have implemented a new appointment system, we offer same day emergency appointments face to face and telephone appointments and pre-bookable appointment available 14 days in advance. E-consultations can be done online and we do offer a limited amount of online pre-bookable telephone appointments with GP's. Our telephone system allows patients calling the surgery to be placed directly in to a queuing system to avoid experiencing the user busy tone and the call will be answered by our Patient Liaison Team. Since December 2022, Prescriptions are to be requested via email, system online, NHS app or completing a prescription request form at the front desk and placed into the box we provide. Vulnerable patients are permitted to request prescriptions via telephone. All prescription requests are the patient's responsibility and patients are responsible to request them in a timely manner.
