Unfortunately the receptionists at this practice are awful and seem to be confused with the fact that they are not doctors. It appears they hold appointments at ransom and they deem it appropriate to decide if you are worthy of an appointment or not. I am medically trained myself and find it laughable when they are stating things that are clearly untrue. It is really disappointing to see them treating patients in such a way. Speaking and sending out messages in an undermining manner. This needs to be looked into.

I apologise if you have recently had a poor experience but can assure you that our care navigators are trained to signpost to the right person at the right time and do not clinically triage patients. Perhaps you contacted us after a serious incident in the practice last week when the team experienced considerable trauma through someone's actions, to the extent that we are currently closed. The GPs and nurses at this practice really are exceptional. Everyone is always so thoughtful, considerate and warm in their approach. Every nurse I've ever had a blood test with has asked me if I'm afraid if needles - I dont recall nurses at any other practice asking me that! I'm not scared of them at all in fact, but it's such a kind,"above and beyond" little detail. They are all so friendly and reassuring, and explain to me what the tests are for and when I'll get results. On a sadder note, I've had a consistently poor experience with one receptionist (all the others have been really fantastic). On two occasions I have been asked to book an appointment by my GP, only to have this receptionist tell me it's not necessary. Mercifully I was able to convince her, but it's quite embarrassing and frustrating being put in that position.

In my experience, the reception staff- the front line, deal with people in a calm and considerate way, often under stressful situations witnessed first hand. The doctors & nurses (& reception staff)that I have seen have made me feel valued & listened to. I appreciate them all hugely & give my thanks.

A GPs practice is one of those places where we only go when we need to, and often malign because of the time it takes to get through on the phone, how long it takes to get and appointment and so on. What we sometimes fail to recognise is the expertise, professionalism and deep concern for us patients that the GPs exhibit. My experience with Easttrees has shown how good a practice can be. The cliche ‘above and beyond’ certainly applies here. My GP is rigorous in her examination of results, not only those asked for herself but those from my treatment in hospital. She frequently (or as frequently as is demanded by my condition) updates me on results, and provides the sort of back up that is immensely reassuring. I can now forgive a slightly long wait on the phone because this surgery deserves to be popular. By the way, the nursing team and support staff deserve equal praise for their proactive and caring approach. Thank you all.

It's a welcoming facility, all the staff are really friendly and I have always received good advice from the practitioners here. Appointment availability is pretty good and communication has been the best of any GP surgery I've been at.

I have always had a really positive experience using East trees over a number of years for myself and children. I always find the staff (receptionists, nurses and Doctors) friendly and caring and as helpful as they can be. I did struggle to get through on the phone at times but now using the online appointment request it couldn’t be easier to get an appointment swiftly or other advice. I would recommend this surgery to anyone. Thank you!

Dear Katie Thank you for your kind words. We try to advise our patients not to call us at 8am as this just causes a rush. And Mondays are worse, but no day should be any different. If patients need an appointment they will always be offered one but sadly, there is a view that all GP practices are the same and turn patients away. Wanted to book an appointment, so went online via the NHS app to find that this practice wasn't accepting bookings via the app (with no explanation). Spent 35 minutes on hold and progressed 3 places up the queue (mid-afternoon, mid-week) to make an appointment, and gave up. Signed up for a different practice while I was on hold, as this is far from an isolated experience. Surgery clearly not employing enough people, poor service as usual. If you do ever manage to make an appointment, the medial staff are usually very good.

Dear patient It is always disappointing to hear of negative experiences and I apologise that you had issues recently in contacting us. We have an e-consult service which is accessed via our surgery website and which we respond to within 24 hours. Our team of care navigators has been severely depleted due to unexpected sickness over which we have no control and it has genuinely been a struggle. I am sorry that you have felt it necessary to register with another practice and wish you well for the future.

I cannot speak highly enough of the East Trees team after my appointment today. The reception team were friendly and helpful, both in person and on the phone. I was offered a choice of appointments after a minimal wait time. The GP was professional and efficient but also kind and patient and went above my expectations for an emergency consultation on what must have been a busy shift. Thank you to the whole team.

The pharmacy having failed to include one of my drugs in the prescription, told me I had to consult my doctor to resolve the issue. The phone had at least an hours queue, so opted for making an appointment on the website. During the registering process my email address went wrong, so the confirmation email was going to this fictitious address. Subsequent attempts at retrieving my correct address send a confirmation to the fictitious address! Meanwhile the blood pressure is going through the roof. I quite understand though why the NHS has an interest in reducing its work load.

I registered East Trees in August 2022 and every experience has been great. It’s extremely easy to make an appointment over the phone, reception team have always been accommodating, paramedic and GP’s have always really friendly and handle my concerns with care.
