  1. Review titled Excellent practice nurse

Rated 5 stars out of 5

by Beatrice Chishimba - Posted on 25 June 2024

My practice nurse has been my nurse for many years and she has been an excellent nurse and she has made me feel better over the years by giving my injections. She is excellent with patients and I very happy with her service.

  2. Review titled Biggest decline in service.

Rated 1 star out of 5

I joined during the pandemic and it was pretty good, despite the stressors at the time, they were fairly efficient in how quickly they handled appointments. That’s the only good thing I have to say, which isn’t true at present day. First they discharged me from a service I was on a waiting list for post diagnostic care. I’ve contacted the dr several times to help reverse this so I can get my post diagnostic care. It’s been over 6 months and I’m sure they have forgotten. Ive tried to call many times and often sit on hold for up to an hour before I loose my patience. They used to use dr iq and did consultations online. Now the app is useless, they rarely respond or if they do they do a one ring call then leave a message telling me to book an appointment although I’ve already tried!!! They are aware of my disabilities yet choose to ignore accommodations for it, I request phone or video appointments and they just ignore me. Apparently I don’t exist to the surgery because they don’t see me physically. I keep getting prescribed special services but never any follow up. It took one GP three months to respond to my request, then another three weeks to send me the letter she typed during the appointment… Basically if you can choose another general practice, do that. I would rather travel distances than deal with these lot again.

  3. Review titled Lack of knowledge! Rude!

Rated 3 stars out of 5

Ever since my practice at Streatham Place has joined forces with Edith Cavell the service and care has seriously declined. I have been with Streatham Place since birth, so over 30 years. The care was above and beyond. But since Edith Cavell, wow, the care has rapidly declined at both sites. I do have to say, the doctors have been great, apart from a select few who are dismissive. My major issue at the moment is; I require a letter for travel because I have to take controlled drugs and appliances with me through the boarder as i am a Type 1 Diabetic, I have been getting such letters my whole life (since diagnosis 24years ago) without fail for free. Because type 1 diabetics are not required to pay as it is an autoimmune disease. But now they insisted on me laying for such letter, I do not comply. I contacted my diabetes team at the hospital who got extremely angry at the situation I was put in. The situation will be taken further. Edith Cavell lack basic knowledge.

  4. Review titled Unhelpful practice

Rated 2 stars out of 5

We called the surgery today as my niece was very unwell and had to be collected from school. She is registered with the surgery so we called. We were kept on hold for a long time and when we finally got through were told to call 111. The receptionist did not once ask for my nieces details. They did not obtain any information as to her age. I know having worked in the NHS for over 10 years that this is not good practice. Based upon the symptoms we described the receptionist should have been alot more helpful. When we called 111 we were told to take niece to A&E after a lot of screening questions. We were told there are no GPS or urgent care centres with appointments.

  5. Review titled Failing Practice

Rated 1 star out of 5

by Anonymous - Posted on 25 May 2023

I've been registered with Edith Cavell Surgery for more than 4 years. The service has never been good, but has now reached an all-time low. It feels as if I don't actually have a gp nor any access to healthcare. The surgery is going to great lengths to be as inaccessible to patients as possible and seems entirely unconcerned with providing effective health outcomes. The surgery insists on using the Dr Iq App for arranging appointments, requesting medications, and managing basic enquiries. However, the app is almost always "unavailable" meaning once a certain daily limit has been reached, it blocks users from taking any action. Whomever is reviewing, triaging, and allocating the requests that do go through consistently fails to read such requests closely; requests are repeatedly mishandled and closed without any effective resolution. The focus and measure of the surgery is clearly on task completion and box ticking rather than quality of care, accuracy, and efficiency. Calling the surgery is not any better. It is nearly impossible to get through, and, while on hold, one must endure endless reminders and encouragements to use the Dr Iq app. If the app worked, calling wouldn't be necessary. The calling menu now seems to have been updated and puts callers through a loop of pointless menu options that always seem to conclude with "try again later". When one does get through, staff try their best to help, but lack sufficient knowledge and training to be helpful; I've consistently been provided with contradictory and false information. I have been trying to resolve a specific administrative issue for 6 months without success. I am resigned to the fact that I will need to go to the surgery in person and stay there until someone qualified sorts things out. Once sorted, I will be changing surgeries as I have lost all confidence in this surgery, their competence, and their ethics.

  6. Review titled Worst ever

Rated 1 star out of 5

booking appointments is impossible. they tell you to use a online booking system they ask an appropriate time to call and decide to call whenever . they don’t care if you have other things going on . example. work/children doctors are rude and dismissive . receptionist , will leave you calling for 1 hour even though you are “number 1” in the calling queue . ridiculous , if you don’t want to answer calls don’t be a receptionist.

  7. Review titled Not impressed

Rated 1 star out of 5

by Anonymous - Posted on 20 March 2023

Terrible staff member. Left myself & another person waiting an unacceptable amount of time to make an appointment after they & I walked to the surgery to make said appointment. The person on duty for 25 minutes sat looking at a screen fingers not moving. A woman who had arrived before me complained about her treatment at the whim of the staff member. I sat there & watched this scene somewhat stunned. Is that what's called reception?

  8. Review titled Phone calls ignored not once

Rated 3 stars out of 5

by Mr Pileckas - Posted on 04 March 2023

Hi there, I visited surgery on 3/3/23 and noticed what your staff member who supposedly have to answer phone calls was on her phone. That is not a first time I see staff doing that. On another occasion staff member was doing Ocado online shopping on the NHS computer. And the problem what I was waiting to be answered 20mins both times. I live just few mins away so decided to come in person. It doesn’t make any sense to me as a patient how much respectfully staff is do their actual duties on working hours. I have been confrontational and apologetic with my natural feelings what I was seeing and glad ppl in waiting area heard what is going on as I believe they been in my situation. Management itself didn’t want to listen importance of what I have to say and asked me to leave after I said she had to do better job. It looked like they would be able to escort me cos a man showed up in a window as well. In addition wanted to say I’m sorry for the lady manager as she is not in control of her staff actions and she knows that now, she’s to weak for her role as a manager. Hopefully strict changes will be taken after this. In my defence wanted to say - don’t say I’m rude in any way cos I’m just absolutely right in this and expressed my natural human intelligence and feelings at a same time. If manager not happy to hear criticism of her job doesn’t mean I’m rude. It means she’s not trained properly for her job. You might not like it, but I’m old enough to say what I see, so please don’t teach my language skills which I apologised straight away. And all this is for a record. I sent email and evidence picture to the practice but no response yet on this. I believe my email will be deleted from a system so I leave similar message here about what is going on in a practice.

  9. Review titled Doctor dismissed my symptoms and concerns

Rated 1 star out of 5

by Anonymous - Posted on 21 March 2023

I have had nausea, stomach cramps, temperature and irregular bowel for 2 weeks. After explaining my symptoms the doctor said I had too many symptoms and I had too select one do I wanted him to deal with. It felt like he wanted me off the phone as soon as possible. He told me to log an issue in a fortnight if I still had problems. I'm likely going to pay to see a private doctor as I'm not confident in the diagnoses.

  10. Review titled Would not recommend

Rated 1 star out of 5

by Anonymous - Posted on 04 December 2022

I would not recommend this GP surgery to anyone. Impossible to speak to anyone on the phone, I waited recently as “number one in the queue” for 90 minutes, only trying to find out how to call back tomorrow to try and actually get an appointment. They try to get you to use an app which does not work. I am pregnant and have decided to change surgery to somewhere else local as I have no confidence in getting taken seriously or even being able to speak to a receptionist, which is bad enough now but more concerning with a newborn. I did eventually have an appointment recently where the dr was nice but did not take me seriously, weeks later I am asking for a second opinion. Would not recommend.
