  1. Review titled Excellent receptionist

Rated 5 stars out of 5

    by G Smith - Posted on 17 March 2025

I've had a lot of ongoing problems both health and admin based as of late but the gent on reception is always polite and friendly and goes above and beyond to help you every time no matter the problem or query. He even offered to send a text from the practice once my latest issue is sorted to let me know which is amazing. He's a genuine NHS star and I hope he knows this.

  2. Review titled Slow fingers

Rated 2 stars out of 5

One minute after the stated opening time of online submissions (13.00) no more “slots” were available. I’ve tried 3 times to submit my request for low dose aspirin (previously prescribed by my Opthalmologist) to be added to my repeat prescriptions. How difficult and time consuming should this be. If you want to run an internet practice surely it should allow access

Dear Dr Kay, I'm sorry to hear about the difficulties you've encountered with the online submission system. It can be frustrating when you're unable to access the services you need, especially when it comes to managing your prescriptions. Online systems can sometimes experience high demand, leading to slots filling up quickly. Here are a few suggestions that might help: 1. Timing: Try logging in a few minutes before the system opens to ensure you're ready to submit your request as soon as slots become available. 2. Alternative Contact: If the online system continues to be an issue, consider contacting the practice directly. In this case a letter might be the best option, as there is no indication in the letter from your Ophthalmologist that they want you to take low dose Aspirin. You could outline your reasons for the request and the GP will call you if they require any further information. 3. Feedback: It might be helpful to provide feedback to the practice about your experience. This can help us understand the challenges patients are facing and potentially improve the system. Your health is important, and it's crucial to find a way to access the care you need. If you continue to face difficulties, discussing your situation with the Complaints Manager might help in finding a solution.

  3. Review titled Good experience

Rated 5 stars out of 5

by Michelle - Posted on 27 March 2025

Managed to get into the surgery this afternoon. Was seen by a really lovely locum Doctor . So friendly and thorough. I have met him before when my grandson wasn’t well. Really put my Grandson at ease. Really good way with children to carry out investigations. Not the first time I have heard good feed back for this Doctor. Not enough praise gets fed back to the surgery of when you have good experience with a Doctor. Keep up the good work.

  4. Review titled Appalling 'service'

Rated 1 star out of 5

The hospital referred me for a kidney function test re: bowel cancer. They’d emailed my doctors (Whitefields) and I needed to speak to W/fields to book my test. Day 1 (Fri) after several failed attempts to get through to surgery W/fields said they had not received anything and I must phone the hospital back. I called the hospital who said they had definitely already sent it, it was on my records and with ICE (some kind of booking system). Day 2 (Mon) the same issues trying to get through to W/fields and when I eventually did they said they can't see anything. I called the hospital again who confirmed they had sent it as they could see it on their system, Hospital said they would try and call W/fields for me. Day 2 Hospital was unable to get through to W/fields by phone, they would try again tomorrow morning so I should call W/fields tomorrow afternoon. Day 3 (Tues) W/fields now say they do have it on system but I must go to Anima to book appointment with a doctor who will then phone me to arrange an appointment for my test, Days 3, 4 & 5, I couldn't get an appointment on Anima. The last thing I needed at such a worrying time was to be bounced around between W/fields surgery and hospital causing me more stress and upset. The hospital staff were apologetic; the surgery staff weren’t. I’ve now booked directly with the hospital as I couldn't face trying to speak to W/fields again and/or or waiting endless days trying to get Anima appt.

Dear Patient, I'm truly sorry to hear about the difficulties you've faced in trying to arrange your kidney function test. Navigating the healthcare system can be challenging, especially during such a stressful time. It's important that patients feel supported and that communication between healthcare providers is seamless. Your feedback is invaluable, and it highlights areas where improvements can be made to ensure a smoother process for patients in the future. It's good to know that you've managed to book directly with the hospital, but it's unfortunate that you had to go through such a frustrating experience. If you feel comfortable, it might be helpful to share your experience directly with the Complaints Manager at Whitefields Surgery. This can help them understand the issues and work towards improving their processes and communication. Please remember that your health and peace of mind are important, and if there's anything else you need, don't hesitate to reach out to your healthcare providers.

I cannot fault the service I have received from both surgeries in recent weeks. I’ve been able to get an appointment quickly using the Anima online system and have felt seen and heard by the practitioners that I’ve had my appointments with.

  10. Review titled Shocking Experience

Rated 1 star out of 5

by Anonymous - Posted on 14 February 2024

My son 6 year old son had been unwell all night with dizziness, sore throat and just not himself. School said there was an illness going round school and I should get him checked out. Called the surgery at 9am after taking my eldest to school. Receptionist straight away said you need to call back tomorrow at 8am all our apportionments are gone for today and we close at 12.30 for training. I said that ridiculous as there are hours left and it's really quite important. She said ring 111. I said all 111 will do is ask them to give me an appointment. Her tone became quite defensive and she said I was being rude. I was calm, just concerned for my child. She then said there are emergency appointments, I said can we have one she said no there is a process, call 111. I called 111 who were amazing and even spoke to my 6 year old on loud speaker. After the initial call a children's nurse called from 111, she was great asked questions and spoke to my son again on loud speaker, she asked me to hold and came back and said I have called your GP and they will give you an appointment today we suspect Scarlet Fever. Unbelievable this could have been resolved nearly 2 hours prior. Reception the called me and said "we would like to offer you an apportionment". When I was siting in the waiting room at Whitefields surgery a receptionist was taking extremely loud about "a rude one" she had come to the surgery this morning, a mother with her 18 year old daughter with a fungal nail. She then proceeded to moan about the mum and relay her experience that she had to pay private to get her own child's fungal nail treated so why should this woman's child have an appointment on the NHS for it. I was absolutely shocked. The receptionist then said "I had an appointment free but I wasn't giving it to her". I was appalled. How does a receptionist get to decide who appointments are allocated to and she should be completely impartial. My son was seen by a lovely nurse and she was quite sure she had scarlet fever and treated him accordingly. I can for sure see why Delapre / Whitefield are rated inadequate with the services provided from the receptionists and their attitude towards patients.
