I only visit this practice for their anticoagulant clinic. I attended this clinic on Monday 22nd of April at 12:30. The practitioner who runs this service is a pleasant man and is very thorough and polite.

  5. Review titled New improved service

Rated 3 stars out of 5

by Lilian Punt - Posted on 01 March 2024

I caught my leg on my open dishwasher door. It bled a lot and started to get very red all around the area. The leg felt very hot. I went to the pharmacist (as is suggested now). He said that I needed to see a Doctor as it looks infected. By now it was painful. So I rang the surgery at 8 o clock and was told that I was number 10 in the queue. However at 8.20 I was answered and I explained the situation. I was offered an appointment at 9.10 which I took. I was seen and prescribed an antibiotic cream which I collected from Boots and duly used. I’m pleased to say that it is working and the inflammation is reducing. I have to say that I’ve not been happy with previous interactions with this surgery for my partner. However, credit where it’s due, and I really hope that this is a turning point for them in the future. It is so important to be able to trust your Doctor and get the help that we need as soon as possible.

Dear Patient Thank you for your review We do take complaints very seriously, here at Eltham Palace Surgery and we do discuss these reviews as a team to see where we can improve the best we can. We have been trying tirelessly, to recruit a Salaried GP at the practice since one of the partners left over 2 years ago, but this has proved very difficult . This seems to be a nationwide concern in trying to recruit Salaried GP's into General Practice. This has resulted in us unfortunately , having to take Locums to cover the clinical sessions so that we can offer enough appointments to cover our practice list size . The good news is that we do have 2 Long term locums with us now and hopefully we will be able to recruit a Salaried GP in the New Year . Please do not hesitate to contact me at the practice if you have any other concerns , that I may be able to help with . With Kindest regards Jo Gilby Practice Manager

  8. Review titled Delays putting patients at risk

Rated 2 stars out of 5

by Anonymous - Posted on 11 August 2023

I was discharged from hospital, after having had an emergency operation. For both that hospital and my follow-up procedure at Guy's St Thomas, they needed me to have bloodwork done at my GP, Eltham Palace, in a week's time to ensure I did not have an infection (due to the nature of the emergency) or other complications. A week passed and I had heard nothing from Eltham Palace, whilst Guy's had already contacted me. Calling the GP, Eltham Palace initially told me to come in 4 weeks time. They claimed to never have received instructions for a bloodwork, and asked me to bring the discharge papers for scanning. As I was house-bound still from the operation, my wife went and provided those details, witnessing them scanning it. They asked us to call back next week, which my wife then explained would be way too late and was then asked to call next day or day thereafter. I called the day thereafter, and was told they didn't have my scanned discharge papers, and that there was a backlog of 3,000 scans for patients. Again we were asked to provide the discharge papers for scanning, and again my wife provided the and witnessed them scan it. I still do not have an appointment. In meantime, St Thomas has done my pre-op assessment, including bloodwork, and can only hope that the results are OK. When I contacted them, there was an air of being overworked, stressed and 'leave me alone' in the responses. The backlog also sounds like serious understaffing. But in the end, it affects the patients - it left me stressed and worried about my health, not knowing where else I could turn to. This also had a effect on my wife, as you can imagine. In all, not a pleasant experience.

  9. Review titled Terrible Service

Rated 1 star out of 5

by Anonymous - Posted on 01 August 2023

Where to start? 1. Impossible to get any type of appointment that is less than 3 weeks away. 2. Reception staff that are rude, aggressive, and treat you with contempt. 3. Test results that don’t get relayed. There are much better GP practices about, anywhere but here. Be very cautious with this place, you will just be treated terribly. This post is anonymous for fear of reprisals from the surgery.

  10. Review titled Terrible Service

Rated 1 star out of 5

by Molly - Posted on 15 May 2023

i call on thursday and was amaze that i was able to get an appointment the same day, for this surgery i have never been able to get an appointment the same day even before covid. however once i receive my telephone appointment i was not introduce to a doctor but only was receiving a call from the" gp surgery". (i do believe if you are making a doctors appointment i would expect to speak with a professorial) i was ask to send photo which i did straight away as i was told they will call be back once review the photos, this took 2 hour after the call and again was not introduce to a doctor but to the gp surgery calling me back. but it was to my surprise it seem like the lady was reading of an email, when i went to ask a question about the treatment i was spoken over and continuously being told the same thing instead of my question being answered. i was advise to wait 48 hour before calling back, but this happen to be on a saturday, which i stated during the phone call but was advise that there are other number that can be called whiles the surgery is close but not provided with these numbers, over the 48 hours my symptoms had got worst even to the point of my throat nearly closing. i called the doctor surgery this morning 15.05.23 after being advise to call the doctor back after 48 hours if there is no improvement. the lady that i had spoken did not ask for my name nor take my dob which means my note was not even looked at whiles i was on the phone. to be told that i would need to call back at 8 am on the following day, which would be fine but i do not feel that an emergency appointment is need and could go to someone else, when i had explain this to the receptionist i was then advise to call back on wednesday for a "routine appointment" which again i would believe this to be a telephone appointment. i can not understand why i would not be able to book an appointment till wednesday. after i questioned to why i could not make an appointment i was not answered but to be told to go to a & e which again i do not feel that i need to go a & e, but when i do call on wednesday i will not get an appointment for 3 week which by then my symptoms would have gone. the service this gp surgery has been terrible even before covid but now it even worst.
