Review titled Wonderful staff
Rated 5 stars out of 5
by Anonymous - Posted on 14 April 2024
I wanted to leave a review to recognise the wonderful service that I had by every member of the team at Fairbrook, that I came into contact with. I am lucky enough to be very healthy and rarely in need of a GP, but yesterday I needed to make an appointment and was so impressed by the service I received. Firstly, I called at exactly 8:30am and was 22nd in the queue. I was given an option for a call back, such a brilliant idea, and I was called back within about 15 minutes, amazing! The lady that called me back was so lovely, I wish I had got her name, as although I did thank her at the time, I feel that she deserved extra thanks. I can imagine that it’s a really tough job, and I was so grateful that she listened to me and made a decision as to what I needed. Had she have palmed me off, I more than likely wouldn’t have called back and would have suffered for longer. I am so grateful, as today, after seeing the doctor, I feel so much better. I also want to thank the Doctor that I saw, as they showed compassion, understanding and took the time to listen. I was given options and explained the medical reasons for how I was feeling. Again, another example of amazing care. I then had to see a receptionist to book a blood appointment. Both ladies at reception were kind and happy, lovely to see in such a pressured job. People can forget how difficult all roles within a surgery must be, I wanted to let Fairbrook know that there are people out there who appreciate the hard work that so many there put in.

Thank you so much for your great review about Fairbrook. You have touched on so many areas that we have been working on. The call back system was very recent and we have had some wonderful feedback as you don't loose you place in the queue. I have passed this review onto all the staff as it is such a feel good review and really shows that all the work and commitment that our staff have been working on, and I'm so pleased that the support and empathy is really coming through. Our mission statement is that we aim to provide a high quality patient centred care in a safe, effective and supportive environment to achieve the highest standards of care and patient satisfaction. Thank you so much again. Michele Cain Practice Manager

Review titled Unhappy with procedures.
Rated 3 stars out of 5
by Michael Rampley - Posted on 13 March 2024
I handed a letter in from my heart consultant requesting an ECG after having heart surgery in January on 29th Feb 2024. I was informed a G.P. needed to review this and i would hear from them when the review was done. Waited a full 7 working day heard nothing. Contacted surgery to be told the letter was out to be reviewed but the doctors were busy (which i understand) and i would get a call as soon as they had reviewed it. Wk2 Rang the surgery at 10.30 pm 12th March to make a routine appointment as told to and was 18th in the queue waited 20 mins to be answered no appointments for next week (3 weeks) . All to review a letter requesting a form for an ECG to be sent to a hospital for an appointment . The ECG is important as i have a follow up telephone appointment with heart consultant pre booked for 9th April 2024 . It was done this way to avoid the stresses and strains of travelling to London so soon after heart surgery. Am appalled at the peoceedure process 1. Getting something reviewed 2. The disregard shown in patient care or lack of. 3. once you actually get an appointment the doctors and other medical staff are brilliant. 4. so i wholly recommend "procedure" is reviewed and reformulated. ASAP.

Dear Michael Following taking to you directly soon after reading your review, I realised I hadn't responded on here, so I apologise for the delay. Due to confidentiality I can't discuss fully on here your actual case. I am pleased that I was able to update you to the pathway for an ECG and that in future secondary care should organise a patients ECG directly and not return this to the surgery. I'm glad we were able to chat and got this sorted for you and advise you of the correct pathway. Do come back to me, if you have any further questions. Many thanks Michele Cain Practice Manager

Dear Jaison I am so sorry that the system broke down for you and your experience hasn't been satisfactory. When a patient has a Diabetic Blood Test, at the time of the appointment we make a Diabetic phone review appointment 2 weeks later. I am sorry that it would seem from what you have written, that this didn't happen for you. I will look into this further and hope that we can resolve this for you. We don't make appointments at the front desk but do ask patients to ring in at 10.30 or use the NHS app at 10.30 to make the routine appt online. The call back system is working very well and we have had some great feedback from it. Demand is outstripping our capacity at the moment but we are looking at ways to help all our patients and alter our appointment system. News to follow shortly. Thank you very much for letting us know the problem you had and I look forward to resolving this issue. Many thanks Michele Cain Practice Manager

Review titled Can't Get An Appointment
Rated 1 star out of 5
by Anonymous - Posted on 19 January 2024
There are certain times to call for an appointment. 8.30am, 10.30am and 2pm. If you call even a minute before those times, they won't allow you to make the appointment. When you call at those times, you are over 20th in the queue?!?! You can have a callback, but obviously when they call you back, there are no appointments left!!! It is impossible to see the GP. Who is getting an appointment when there are none to be had? They claim you can make an appointment through the app, but the app says, 'sorry, this service is not available at your practice'. People are getting worse in their conditions and the NHS is failing, failing, failing.

Dear Patient. I am so sorry to read your review but all feedback is valuable. We are delivering more and more appointments in all specialities everyday. Are open 8-6.30 Monday to Friday and 8-8pm on a Monday for the extended access HUB. I wonder if you have also tried the NHS ap, as our forward appointments that are open at 10.30 Monday to Friday are also available on line at 10.30am. We have had great feedback about our call back system and please don't think just because you are 20th or even 50th in the queue you won't get seen. Our Care Co ordinators signpost to a variety of appointments, from the Pharmacy, Clinical Pharmacists, Nurses, Health Care Assistance, Minor Illness nurses, Paramedics, Mental Health nurse, Muscular Skeletal First Contact Physios, Social prescribers and our administration team, to our GP's. We can also book the Extended access appointments in the 3 various Hubs Potters bar, Borehamwood and Elstree. We are looking at improving our systems all the time so your feedback is valuable. I am sorry again to hear about your experience and I hope that in the future when you ring or go online you have a difference outcome. Many thanks Michele Cain Practice Manager

Review titled Highly recommended
Rated 5 stars out of 5
by Stephen Felce - Posted on 13 January 2024
The surgery is overloaded with patients so booking an appointment is very difficult but, other than that, the quality of care is consistently good. Recently I emailed in about an issue with me that potentially was dangerous, no exaggeration, and soon after they called me to deal with the concern, which they very quickly and effectively.

Hi Stephen Thank you for taking the time to give us a fair review. We are working on 'booking' appointments. Our clinicians are trying to process their own results and not put a task, ' patient needs a routine appointment'. This is helping with our demand for these '10.30' routine appointments that can be made over the phone or via the NHS app. We are also looking into the 'total Triage' model that some of our neighbouring practices have recently moved over to. Many thanks again Michele Cain Practice Manager

Dear patient. I'm so sorry to hear about your diagnosis, and I thank you even more for taking the time to update us on your experiences. The receptionist/care coodinator is Haylee. It is lovely to feed this review back to her and to say well done. She is a wonderful staff member. I have also fed back to our infection control lead in the practice and our cleaning company. Please take care and continue to let us know if we can help you. Michele Cain Practice Manager.

Review titled Excellent polite and helpful staff
Rated 5 stars out of 5
by Anonymous - Posted on 22 November 2023
Personally, I have found the staff from GP's, nurses, reception staff and almost everybody in-between to be very helpful, friendly and knowledgeable. Today was an example of that. I had just come out of hospital this morning. I needed an issue with some medication dosage to be sorted out. The staff member that I spoke with, went above and beyond to help me. I wasn't feeling well and she took the pressure off. Also, thanks to the quick thinking of one of the GP's, I was sent straight to hospital in an ambulance. Thank you to most of you at that practice. I think you are doing a great job even under difficult circumstances.
