Review titled Painless vaccinations
Rated 5 stars out of 5
by Naomi Smith - Posted on 09 October 2024
I recently attended for both flu and covid vaccinations. Pleased to say the gentlemen administering them was excellent, no pain or resultant stiff arms. His manner was also very relaxing and practical which eased my white coat syndrome enormously. Thank you!

Have to fill in a form at 8am to get an appointment. This is usually closed before 8:30 due to being 'fully allocated'. My parents can't use the internet so feel unable to access the surgery's services. Receptionists aren't bothered. Just get told tough and to go to the walk in centre if it's urgent. Don't want to help. Dr's aren't much better. On the off chance you do get an appointment, you're made to feel like you're wasting their time. All you get asked is 'what do you think is wrong?' If I knew, I wouldn't feel so small for just wanting some medical advice. Don't be a doctor if you don't want to help. Awful attitude from the staff. One of the nurses told my daughter who is insulin dependent diabetic to come off insulin. Why? They're not even specialist nurses

Dear Martin I am sorry that you felt our service did not meet with your expectation. Our reception team are trained care navigators who operate under the guidance of our GP’s Any muscular skeletal problems are initially referred to our physiotherapy team who are specialists in treating patients with conditions such as limb pain, joint pain, back pain etc. Our online form opens at 8am to offer an extended period in which patients can contact us. This was introduced after looking carefully into feedback received from patients. I am sorry that the way in which we offer appointments and triage does not suit you as an individual. Review titled Staff need to learn not to harass patients
Rated 1 star out of 5
by Anonymous - Posted on 22 July 2024
Staff need to learn not to harass patients. One 'practice nurse' in particular left me 8 voice mails within the space of 10 minutes. Sorry but once is enough. I was at work, so couldn't take the call. Her final message when she realised I wasn't going to answer was that she was going to speak to a dr about possibly taking me off the register if I was going to waste their time. She then proceeds to write on my notes (I have access to the NHS app and can see what's been added) about me answering the phone and putting the phone down on her. Obviously lying when I am working and can't answer the phone. She really does need speaking to about her attitude.

Dear Patient Thank you for taking the time to leave us your feedback. I am sorry to hear that you were unhappy with the service you received. It is very unusual for any clinician to contact a patient at the rate you report, and I would like to investigate this further. Please contact the surgery on 0114 2322055 to discuss further. Review titled Can't get an appointment
Rated 1 star out of 5

It is impossible to get an appointment! I've called up at 8.30am when the surgery opens and been cut off. I've called up at 8.30am when the surgery opens and been told there are no appointment and that I need to call back the next day. I've called up at 8.30am when the surgery opens and been told that I have to use the online booking system...which I never got a response. It is incredible frustrating! The customer service and administration is poor quality, inconsistent and unhelpful. My family and I have been going to this surgery for over 30 years and this is worse it has even been.

Before COVID I couldn't fault this surgery. I've not been able to see a doctor in Three years, I tried ringing for three weeks at 8.30 to no avail, they want to send you elsewhere as there's no appointments yet unbelievably they're advertising for new patients yet they don't have appointments for their existing ones! One good thing, their receptionists are wonderful, they do their utmost to help you and are clearly not happy with the situation

Dear Patient Thank you for taking the time to leave us your feedback and the kind comments regarding our reception team. I am sorry to hear that you have experienced difficulties in accessing our services. On the 17th April, we changed the way in which patients access our services. Patients do not need to phone at 8.30am, instead our online forms are available from 8am, or our reception team will be happy to complete it for patients who are unable to use the online service. All medical queries are triaged by a doctor who then decide the best treatment and urgency of the medical concern reported. This information should be given to all patients who contact us. All patients were informed of the new system via a number of text messages and we also held several drop in sessions earlier in the year. We do inform patients of the walk in service for medical emergencies if we are at capacity. This service, whilst inconvenient for some, is available to all adults and children who require medical treatment if they feel their condition cannot wait. I am concerned to hear that you have been unable to access a GP in three years and would like to investigate this further so please contact me on 0114 2322055 and I will be happy to look into the matter for you. Kind Regards Natalie Wilkinson Assistant Practice Manager & Complaints Officer.

Hello Lew Thank you for your feedback. I'm sorry to hear that you've had a negative experience and that you were unaware that contacting us via an online form is just one of the ways to access our services. You can also contact us via phone or come in in person. Since introducing our new triage system in April we have worked really hard to reassure everyone that we are widening access and not restricting it. We have sent messages via text to our patients, we have displayed posters throughout the Practice and throughout the community, we had volunteers in Practice for the first 4 weeks showing patients how to use the online form if they choose to but also to reassure them that we can still be contacted by phone or in person. I would welcome any further feedback about your experience and what led to your belief that you could only contact us online. Kind regards Marie Wragg Business Manager

Review titled Kind, helpful and professional
Rated 5 stars out of 5
by Helen - Posted on 14 November 2023
I attended for routine blood tests on 13th November. As has always been my experience with all the staff there, the nurse was kind, patient and professional. She went out of her way to discuss my concerns with a GP and arranged further tests and an appointment. I’ve always found all the staff there - GPs, nursing staff and reception staff - to be genuinely caring and trying to their best under what have been very difficult circumstances for both patients and staff over recent years. I’m very grateful for the care they all provide. Thank you
