Review titled Might as well not exist
Rated 2 stars out of 5

Pharmacy2u is where i get my meds from via prescription, yet each and every time its due for renewal it takes an age to be approved by this GP, the last one thus far has been waiting for nearly 2 weeks, still no sign of my meds being prescribed out. So if you need meds this gp practice is 100% useless as its clear i aint getting my meds and i cant even get through on their phone line to ask why???????!!!!!! An utter disgrace being blocked from my meds and not having the most basic means of communication functioning aka a telephone line!

Review titled Do they actually have doctors seeing any patients?
Rated 1 star out of 5

So I have a medical issue and the last twice I have asked to see a doctor and been told that I can only see a nurse / paramedic. Saw the last one just under 2 weeks ago and was told if my issue got worse then I should come back to the surgery. And the issue got worse. Was on hold for over an hour yesterday waiting to talk to someone on the phone but eventually had to hang up. Went into the surgery in person and got a phone call back. Told me that I can not see a doctor for at least another 10 days and that was the first opportunity to have a telephone consultation (not even a face to face appointment). And yet they had told me to come back in if the medical issue got worse! Absolutely appalling service / availability. Not even certain if doctors practice there anymore as it seems impossible to see one.

Review titled Poor triage system
Rated 1 star out of 5
by Anonymous - Posted on 24 March 2025
There is no section for leaving a new medical concern in Klinik. I tried new query in general but there is a message saying not anything clinic related?? Therefore, when trying to go through the system it keeps on saying I've filled in the wrong section and need to call reception. I then call at 3pm on a Monday afternoon and the lines say they are now closed. I text back the number which told me to call reception and they say my case is now closed. Without it being resolved. Truly terrible triage system, I asked in my Klinik and responding to the text if they can direct me to the correct section and this has not happened. I never leave feedback and normally I accept things and move on. But what a terrible system, especially to be closed at 3pm on a Monday. It is a poor service when no service is being delivered at all. I also prefer the Klinik system to avoid speaking to reception and avoid taking up time for someone else trying to call through, but now I want to wash my hands with all of this and register at another GP. I've been with this surgery for so long, I'm so disappointed the lack of clarity from both trying to use Klinik and through calling/messaging.

Review titled unbelievable experience
Rated 1 star out of 5

My wife managed to get through after an hour on the phone, only to be told all slots were taken and to call the next day. She couldn't get a call back and was told the best that you could do is get a call back next week or call in at 0730 the next day, which she couldn't because she starts work at 0700. She expressed she was really worried about something and does not usually call the doctor. The receptionist was completely nonchalant and completely unhelpful. We felt that let down, we registered at another surgery. I suggested my wife telephoned as like I said she was really worried. The same day, we're still on Monday she was accepted seen by a doctor and since has had blood tests and booked in to see a consultant as she may have a life changing illness. My advice to anyone thinking of using this surgery is to think again, it's not the first time we have had a terrible experience with these. They should be ashamed.

Review titled Disapponting
by Anonymous - Posted on 13 January 2025
You follow the rules, only get ill from 8.30am so you can complete the online form, but still don’t get help. This is the last straw. I contacted them because I needed help, I have been coping with medical issue for last 5 days on my own, I barely reach out and wouldn’t if it wasn’t needed, I know what a nightmare it is. I requested a phone call back, deselecting SMS and Video but they sent me dismissive text which didn’t actually answer the question I asked, worse than that you can’t reply. Am now waiting for a reply to the follow up form I completed. This isn’t the first time, previously they have completely ignored my request and then stuck a hand-delivered letter through my letterbox, telling me my request has been closed. I get that they are busy but there seem little or no compassion. I rarely ask for help and sadly this surgery doesn’t seem to be able to when you do.

Review titled Very long wait for blood test
Rated 1 star out of 5
by Michael Pomeroy - Posted on 04 September 2024
Had blood test booked for 15-10 turned up 5 minutes early, still waiting at 15-50 no acknowledgement of running later, another lady got booked in for 13-30 appointment got seen at 15-40, young reception didn't book her in then blamed the system. Now have to go to the future inn for the bloods, I think it's time to go to West Hoe Surgery, will be getting form tonight.

Review titled Being Fobbed Off
by Kevin Barber - Posted on 20 September 2024
I went into the surgery to ask for an appointment to a doctor or nurse about a potentially cancerous mark on my back. I was told to see a pharmacist. I asked it a pharmacist could diagnose cancer and was told maybe. The receptionist, being helpful, suggested I get someone to take a photo of my back to help. I was then given a slip of paper saying to visit the doctor's website. The website address is not actually written on the slip of paper. I found it through Google, and was then sent to the NHS website which, by the time I verified it was me, got my lost. I gave up. And all for a simple appointment when I was at the doctor's reception desk, in person with my back with me. Not impressed!

Dear Mr Barber I'm sorry you have had problems getting your issues dealt with. However, I see that you submitted a Klinik request on the day you posted your comment and that this has been dealt with. You have been advised to contact the relevant organisation and once you have submitted your image, you will receive the results directly from them. I will speak to the reception team & ensure that they are not advising inappropriate referrals to pharmacies. Thank you for your feedback. Practice Manager

Review titled Dear Practice Manager
Rated 3 stars out of 5
by Kevin Barber - Posted on 24 September 2024
Thank you for your response to my complaint, and sorry for the time this is wasting. The practice advice is for me to download a 'Map my Mole' phone app, send it a photograph and follow other instructions. I'm sorry (for me) but that is far too complex. I will go elsewhere and pay for someone to simply look at it. Or is that what you hoped I'd do in the first place?

Review titled A shambles
Rated 1 star out of 5

I have tried to give this surgery the benefit of the doubt but my patience has run out and I'm moving. Shockingly bad service, booking arrangements, poor medical advice, inability to get through on the phone to contact the surgery. No response to request to meet the practice manager. Time this surgery was inspected.

Dear Patient I am sorry that you have been dissatisfied with the service. I am certainly unaware that any patient has requested to see/speak with me. I will speak to the reception team to see where this breakdown in communication has occurred. Practice Manager

Review titled Thankful for the call
Rated 5 stars out of 5
by Anne-marie Ryder - Posted on 10 April 2024
I have previously complained about Friary House surgery so I think it’s important to also praise them when I feel like they have provided a great service. Today I had a telephone consultation with a Dr She was brilliant and put in place everything (tests) to ensure we got to the bottom of my symptoms. This was a real relief and I am so very grateful. Thank you!

Thank you for your feedback & for taking the time to put it on the NHS website. I am pleased that we managed to deal with your issues in a timely manner and I hope the results of your requested tests sort out what is at the root of your health issues. Alison Shelton, Practice Manager
