I phones the surgery at 8.00. I was thirteenth in the queue so opted for call back. I was phoned back within ten minutes and told my condition would be reviewed by the triage team. I received a call from the triage team at 9.00am offering me a GP appointment at Knowle GP Surgery (my local surgery) at 10.10am. Brilliant service.

Using Patches helped get an appointment without too much delay. Although the GP I saw was not a regular to the practice he dealt with my concerns thoroughly .

I thought that the Patches function worked well and delivered the desired outcome. I used it because I was unable to get an appointment with a GP over a period of many weeks and the resultant telephone consultation was a good option however it should not be considered as an alternative to face to face appointments as they are far more efficient and even now I feel that I need a to see a GP to assist with my concerns

  4. Review titled Excellent review

Rated 4 stars out of 5

I had a blood test on Saturday and was called by a doctor on Sunday to be offered a transfusion that day. I refused because of family commitments. I was then seen first thing Monday morning when a transfusion was arranged for that day. Excellent care was given by everyone.

  5. Review titled New Triage process

Rated 4 stars out of 5

by Marion - Posted on 08 July 2024

I was calling to make an appointment with a GP following reading results of a blood test on the NHS app. There was a message there to say that I was advised to make an appointment. On triage I was asked several questions which were probably not relevant to my situation. Could an option be introduced for people who need to make a non-urgent appointment after test results have been received and reviewed?

Dear Marion, Thank you for sharing your feedback with us. As the triage team is maintained by a clinician it would the clinical team who decided on the urgency of the appointment and would book the appointment within the appropriate time scale, urgent and non urgent appointments can be requested via Patch's. 6. Review titled Failed call

Rated 3 stars out of 5

by Dr Subhi Zora - Posted on 13 July 2024

First time using patch’s and was happy I managed to get through, leaving my phone number. Had a call and rushed to phone. By the time I picked up the phone the call was terminated. I called the surgery explaining that I could not catch the call. It took me 20 minutes wait to get someone to talk to. Detailing my failure to catch the phone I was coldly told to do the patchs again the following day. I am really disappointed as I wanted urgently to see a doctor on the day due to a continued problem and a call from the surgery to go and see an doctor urgently. I could not do the patchs again the following day and I am really unhappy about the experience. Thank you very much. Dr Zora.

  7. Review titled Good Practice

Rated 4 stars out of 5

by Eric Byrne - Posted on 08 July 2024

I needed an appointment and following a triage call was given an appointment at one of GPS’ practices, which was great. Gained reassurance from the GP but the advice for a knee injury was to rest and go to A&E if it got worse as it would likely take 18 months for the hospital to allow an appointment for a referral My leg became swollen the next day when I went to Heartlands A&E where I was then treated really well. I had also an hand injury but the GP was unable to properly examine that as she was short of time. It is still.troubling me so it would have been good to have had that seen at the same time but I under that GP’s have time constraints

  8. Review titled Completely broken inefficient system

Rated 1 star out of 5

by Jay - Posted on 18 June 2024

After having a number of test completed privately, based on my Drs referral, due to the NHS wait, I attended the surgery with the outcome and prescription from a consultant. The consultant suggested taking the test outcomes and prescription to avoid delays as lettters seem to take quite a while to get from the consultant to the surgery and onto a patient’s records. I took the scan outcomes, which the doctors was aware that I would be having, and the private prescription so the Dr was assured it was from a reliable source and certified by a consultant specialist. One at the surgery the receptionist said she would ask the Dr to write me an NHS prescription. I mentioned the aim of sharing the letters was to avoid a delay in getting medication as this was the same info the consultant would be sending the Dr and this would speed things up. The receptionist asked the Dr if they would give me a prescription. And the Dr refused u til they has seen me. The receptionist said the Dr wanted to see me and I would need to book an appointment. I asked her to take copies of my letters and upload them to my patient record in readiness for my appointment which she promised she would. I took a day off work to get this sorted out. I requested an in person appointment, as requested by the Dr, on patches at 7:45 too. I received at 8:28 staying I was triage and would get an appointment. By 10, I hadn’t heard anything. I looked at my NHS app which stated I had an appointment booked - but I’d received no notification. I went to the surgery to be told I had no appointment and to wait for triage to contact me. I said I had a further appointment that day and I was concerned there may be a clash. Receptionist said she couldn’t do anything. Whilst at my later appointment I missed two calls. The Dr left a message saying they didn’t have any updates from the consultant(despite the practice manager taking copies of my letters which she said would upload) & that I would need another appointment despite having waited in all day. I called the surgery, waited 45 mins in a queue. the receptionist said the dr was still seeingnpateints, and he would message the doctor to ask if they could call me as I was waiting and the DR said they couldn’t call and I would need to rebook. I work full time and I am unable to take calls without 1. Notice that I will be getting a call 2. A broad awareness of time. I followed all Instructions given and I still can’t see the Dr. I also can’t see why a Dr. Needs to see me if a consultant has already completed all tests and given me a prescription for medication. Why is the Dr unable to give me a continuing prescription without needing to see me - the consultant is the specialist. So now I have to attempt to rebook and go through this entire fiasco again- waiting for someone to triage me, not telling me when or what type of appointment I have until the last minute. Poor patient handling and inefficient use of Drs time. Absolutely awful

Absolutely would recommend the clinician team at Cheswick Green Surgery. I phoned up to get an appointment and the clinician team phoned me back within 5 minutes. Also gave me an appointment to come straight away.

  10. Review titled Needs so much improvement

Rated 2 stars out of 5

by Anonymous - Posted on 08 July 2024

GPS healthcare is impossible to get through to on the phone, always changing their policies on booking appointments but not informing patients of the changes. Some of the receptionists believe they are medical practitioners when asking about reasons for getting an appointment. Triage for a baby takes half of the day so can only ever get evening appointments when they finally call you. This is even when we have filled out the PatchS from at 7.45am, we still have to wait 4-5 hours for an appointment to be given. It's going downhill every year unfortunately. Thankfully the Dr's we have seen have all been very good.
