Review titled Never answer the phone
Rated 1 star out of 5

I called the surgery 1hr and 17 minutes ago. I was 4th in the queue. I have now been 2nd in the queue for nearly an hour. I know some calls will be complicated but no way are the receptionists still dealing with the same caller. The phone is being ignored.

Dear Patient I am sorry you have not had a positive experience in contacting us via the telephone. We are in the process of training new reception staff, therefore the calls may take a little longer to answer. The new telephone system does have a call back service which you may wish to use next time you contact us. This allows you to get on with your day without losing your place in the queue Alternatively we do recommend using our online service eConsult for any queries or appointment requests which can be accessed from our website at www.halbuttstreetsurgery.co.uk Kind Regards Jo Cumber Practice Manager

Review titled Rude & Unprofessional Staff
Rated 1 star out of 5
by Asif - Posted on 19 June 2024
I had a bad experience. I went for a GP appointment for my son who got a blister on the sole underneath of his foot. The receptionist referred to the Pharmacy without consulting the GP. The Pharmacy didn't bother to check and instead asking me to touch the blister with my bare hand. Poor experience

Dear Asif I am sorry your son did not have a positive experience using the enhanced services that Halbutt Street Surgery offer We are working with other health care professionals, which include local pharmacies, in order to meet the needs of our patient population. The reception team have completed training in sign posting and care navigation and are able to direct patients to other appropriate health care professionals as agreed protocols both nationally and locally I'm sorry if you felt the pharmacy did not assess your son appropriately and I would advise you to address this with them. If you feel your son still needs to consult with a GP please contact the surgery and ask to speak to the reception manager

Review titled Excellent practice
Rated 5 stars out of 5
by Chris Haydon - Posted on 19 June 2024
Doctor was very attentive and listened to my concerns. She explained in detail her diagnosis and asked me if I had any questions. She was extremely thorough and did not rush me. This was a very reassuring consultation. I left the surgery feeling I had been fully understood. She had an excellent manner about her and I felt completely at ease when I left. Thank you for your time and patience

Review titled Appointments
Rated 1 star out of 5

No appointment for my son, he was made an appointment at Becontree Hub, pretty much another 2 week wait. In the meantime, he decided to go to Barking walk - in centre, which to his cost, he found out, thats exactly what it's not now. He parked up, had to pay £15.00 in car park fees, regardless of how long your stay may be, only to walk in to be told, you now have to have an appointment to go to " the walk - in " centre. The surgery were not aware of this until I told them.

Dear Patient I am sorry your son has not had a positive experience in accessing appointments offered through Halbutt Street Surgery We are working with other health care professionals in order to meet the needs of our population and from your comments your son was given an appointment with an Advanced Nurse Practitioner in the Becontree Hub. Barking Community Hospital does have a walk in clinic which is open from 8.00am to 10.00pm every day for patients who need to be seen. Barking Community Hospital does offer parking but I'm unable to comment on the charges, although £15.00 does seem very high If your son would like to discuss this further please contact the surgery and ask to make an appointment with me at a mutually convenient date and time Regards Jo Cumber Practice Manager

Review titled Receptionists

11 hours to get a prescription signed for, a loved one was dying, needed injectables. All doctors on half day. 111 said, it was there responsibility to find us a doctor to sign it. I had a row with them, so did 111, they told the District Nurses, also were talking about contacting London Ambulance, to see if there was a doctor there, who would sign it. Hospice were then involved, 20 minutes before the surgery closed, we had a doctors signature, got to the chemist 5 minutes before they closed, with me on the phone, begging them to stay open, until my son got there. Its gone down as an " incident ". I will be reporting this to the GMC.
