    Need to book meds review. Happy to use online services. New system does not offer option to do anything other than follow advice for specific illnesses. Impossible to book review which should be straightforward. Will now have to waste both mine and receptionists time booking in person.

  2. Review titled More problems!

    Follow up to previous review. Unavoidably visited practice to book meds review. Done this previously without a problem, this time the receptionist questioned why I was doing this and gave vague information that the repeat prescription might be reviewed, check in a few days. No idea why I cant book a meds review. Is the information that I need to visit my gp to book a meds review wrong? I don't want a meds review, I'm not asking for it for fun or to waste time. I just need the tablets and a meds review is apparently how to get them. Why do they make this so difficult? To add to the time wasting pointlessnes of visiting here the "automatic" door which previously knocked patients over is now no longer automatic however to open it to get out there is no door handle! I used the only option, a hole in the door which ripped my glove! Why cant they get this right? I'm sure they whinge about the patients without understanding that they cause many of the problems. Shambolic.

  3. Review titled New Rapid Health rollout comments

    The recent rollout of the new Rapid Health system is a big improvement on the old 8am phone jam. However, the only out of hours advice now is to call 111 or 999. And when I called Reception asking for help with raising an issue that I couldn't find a pathway for, I was advised to raise it at the appt booked "with the doctor" (he's not on the list of doctors) later this week for something else - but the new system says raise one appt per issue.

    I easily accessed an appointment via the practice app The GP was symathetic & thorough: thank you! However, on descending the stairs from his room when leaving, I was struck by the extreme build up of dirt on the bannister on the stairway, most particularly at the bottom of the stairs. I expect cleanliness to be a high priority in a GP surgery & this disgusted me.

    There are some good doctors and some not so much, and then are some that go above and beyond to help their patients. On my last visit to the GP Surgery the Doctor listened, identified, diagnosed and advised on many different ways to help me in my current situation. The Doctor was knowledgeable and had a good understanding of the different types of medications that could help me. I left the surgery feeling very good and satisfied. Despite the fact that the GP's and surgeries in the UK are under a lot of scrutiny from difficulty in getting appointments to high standards of practice. The experience I had is what I hope all the patients, doctors and staff could receive despite its many challenges.

    15th October 2024. 7.00pm. I filled up a Drs appointment form online at the surgery site. It took 15min, not sure of the medical terminology and their implications. However there were no major problems filling up the form. I was informed I will get an appointment within 48hrs. In the morning 16th October at 09.00 am I had a text message wit an an appointment at 10.25am. I was able to attend this appointment. There ends the waiting time. I am not sure what would happen if I could not attend this very appointment, but on a positive note the new approach to appointments has worked.

    I rang up I was seen within an hour had medication within 3 hours. They arranged a blood test for the next day. Very happy

    Had an issue with my prescription again. Been a nightmare over the last 3/4 months with me been advised to go back to my psychiatrist at Osborne House as the attached pharmacy don’t have the correct dosage of a certain medication. They have varying milligram’s but not the exact mg I need in one dose. So I have to go to Osbourne House to ask if they would provide a script. My GP refused to issue because rather than having 200mg in one tablet they only have 50mg and 25mg. So I’d be taking ie 4 tablets rather than one. Same total mg but GP will not allow prescription to be issued. Madness. Today I realised that another one of my medications hadn’t been released to me. Was told I need a review after I went to query. Went in today pharmacist blamed surgery and surgery blamed pharmacist. Asked to see Practice Manager and a lady came out without introducing herself . After much discussion I was told they would release my medication but review me for it next week. I need a review apparently but they have issued the medication and I have been booked for a review in 5 days time. Isn’t that the wrong way round? Zero communication re review until I went in to query the situation. Lady told me to go on NHS website to book an appointment over another issue whereby a GP has advised me to come in for a check up re anaemia. Simply can’t get an appointment. Again, farcical. The lady then told me it would be best if I found another GP practice!! Turned out she wasn’t even the Practice Manager…still don’t know why she led me to believe that she was! So because of continual issues with appalling treatment from this surgery which she refused to apologise for, instead they advise me to leave. Been here for 10 odd years. Why should I move because somebody who impersonated the Practice Manager doesn’t know how to resolve the incompetent service I’ve received over this current episode.

    Poorly 94 year old mother was superbly cared for by Doctors and nurses. Lots of excellent communication. Phone calls to check o. My mom’s health and her progress. Lot’s of relevant advice, good discussions and responses to my listening to my endless questions. The doctor m’s care was evident and so helpful in engaging and following up with other agencies. We have used Handsworth Wood Medical Centre for over 50years, with only my mother still registered as we live out of the area and this has been the best period of care we have had for 3 generations of our family. It is so reassuring when you really need the support that it has not only been provided but the professionals have gone above and beyond for my mother and continue to do so. A* and a shiny gold sticker to you. You are greatly appreciated.

    Phoned at 8am to order my prescription was on call waiting 2 hours only to be told all lines are busy please try again later. Really the worst service ever.

We are currently experiencing increased demand on our telephone lines, which has resulted in longer wait times. Our patient services team has been working very hard to answer calls under the additional pressure. However, I recognise that difficulties in accessing the Practice can be extremely frustrating for our patients and I apologise unreservedly for any upset or inconvenience.
