  1. Review titled Terrible servicec

Rated 1 star out of 5

by Anonymous - Posted on 15 February 2024

Tried using patches what a joke it was reviewed by clinical team and told to see the pharmacist, he rang me and said he wasn’t qualified to deal with my situation and to go back to GP , put all this on another request only to be told to see pharmacist.. surely the clinical team should know what the pharmacist can and can’t do .. absolutely shocking .. I’m still waiting to be seen .. I really think we have a right to see a GP .. bring back the old appointment service .. reading other reviews this practice needs sorting .. I’m fuming !!

Dear Anonymous, We are sincerely sorry you have not had a good experience using the new community pharmacist service. There are very specific criteria and conditions that the pharmacists are now able to treat, as you may have seen in the media recently. All practices have been sent this criteria and our care navigators will use this to assess whether your problem is appropriate to be transferred to a member of the pharmacy team. If, after asking you pertinent questions, they are no able to help you they do contact the surgery to advise us your problem is not resolved and we should then be back in touch with you help resolve the issue. This seems to have fallen down in your case for which we can only apologise. If you would like us to investigate this in more detail please do contact us on wyicb-wak.feedback.hcf@nhs.net Best wishes Health Care First

Rated 1 star out of 5

Recently had an appointment and was at reception, one of the Drs walked past was quite clearly scowling at receptionist when trying to help me and was very rude to other members of staff. Think it was somethingright a female.

  4. Review titled Unhelpful and dangerous lack of attention

Rated 1 star out of 5

    by V Smith - Posted on 30 January 2024

I am tired of the slapdash service received. I was told my daughter had a viral infection and no noise on her chest. Less than 48 hours later the out of hours is suggesting she made need hospital treatment for her whooping cough and serious chest infection. I’ve rang today for an appointment for my self, on hold for 18 minutes to talk to someone who filled out a form. Was told to self refer to a service that won’t accept me! And the only option is to go back though the arduous process! Looking for a new GP actually made me realise I can leave a review! Please avoid

Dear V Smith, we are sincerely sorry you felt the recent service received by yourself and your family was not of an adequate standard. Whooping Cough often presents as cold/flu like symptoms so would be undistinguishable until further symptoms develop. We do hope your daughter is recovering well following appropriate treatment by our our of hours service. With regard to obtaining an appointment via a form, this is an NHS England programme called "Patchs" which is being rolled out to all GP practices across England and Wales with the aim of making access more equitable for all. You can use a "patch" without having to call the surgery and the from the comfort of your home or work. The surgery will then be in touch with an appropriate appointment or recommendation. If you would like further information or assistant please do contact us via our feedback e-mail wyicb-wak.feedback.hcf@nhs.net Many thanks Health Care First

  5. Review titled Absolutely disgusting service

Rated 1 star out of 5

by Anonymous - Posted on 22 December 2023

Tried to get a face to face appointment. Told no capacity to be seen Told to go to Pontefract Infirmary. Junior doctors on strike and people asked not to go unless life threatening etc. Absolutely disgusting. All we receive is a message on this patch's system just so you don't have to speak to anyone. This practice gets worse and worse every time we try to access the service!

Dear Anonymous, We are sincerely sorry you have been unable to access an appointment as you requested. The Pontefract Urgent Treatment Centre is an appropriate place to attend if, as seems the case here, you were unable to get a same day appointment. As you may know NHS England have implemented a new access programme across England and Wales whereby every practice should now be using Patchs for patients to access appointments and also make available more routine appointments to our patients. This programme has been implemented at Health Care First during December and January so hopefully you should be directed to the most appropriate service for your problem on contacting the surgery moving forward. If you wish to discuss this further and in more detail please do contact us on wyicb-wak.feedback.hcf@nhs.net Many thanks for your comments. Health Care First

  6. Review titled Impossible to get an appointment

Rated 1 star out of 5

    by Lorna P - Posted on 17 November 2023

I am unable to get an appointment as I can't call at 8am. I have tried so many times to get an appointment by ringing after 8:15am when I am available and the appointments have all gone every single time! I then went through loads of questions on an answerphone, which took around 20 minutes, to later get a text message telling me all appointments had gone and I needed to ring back at 8am! I then went into the actual surgery and repeated the same rigmarole again. The receptionist told me that unless I can call at 8am I am never going to get an appointment.

Dear Lorna, Thank you so much for your feedback HCF values all feedback both good and bad so we can continually improve our service to our patients. In line with NHS England modern general practice from 4th December we have launched our new access model. You can contact the surgery via Patches an online platform that allows you to interact with us to book or cancel appointments, request fit notes, view test results and order medication. You can also use the new NHS App for all of these things as well. You will receive a routine appointment within two weeks and urgent appointments as appropriate. This can be done at anytime so should be great for our patients that lead busy lives and can be sent into surgery for action as appropriate. Please check out our website and social media for more updates and support. Many thanks Health Care First

  7. Review titled Why can't we book appts?!

Rated 3 stars out of 5

by Anonymous - Posted on 23 October 2023

I just don't get that we can no longer book appts. 'Ring at 8am' we get told. But that isn't always practical or feasible. People have babies to look after, so can't be on the phone in a queue for an hour. People work, so might need to call on their breaks. This was never put to patients as what they wanted for their service? Who decided this protocol on our behalf? Not just this service, but the whole of Healthcare First

  8. Review titled Appalling Practice

Rated 1 star out of 5

by Anonymous - Posted on 15 September 2023

Health care first is an absolute joke. Their telephone appointment line puts the phone down on you when you get to a certain point. Never any appointments, no care and rude staff. They tell you call at 8am the next day and you can’t even get through.

  9. Review titled Appalling GP service

Rated 1 star out of 5

by Anonymous - Posted on 17 September 2023

Absolutely appalling service from start to finish. No routine appointments at all....I asked for a non urgent appointment to discuss some test results (I am happy to wait a couple if weeks) couldn't offer me anything. Advised to ring for an on the day appointment at 8am.. Lost/ sent incorrect samples meaning these had to be repeated Denied that they could see blood tests requested on system from consultant...so would not book me a blood test...yet when I went to generic walk in blood clinic at the hospital the nurse saw straight away what was required. Inept and lack of care is so blatant. The management of this surgery should be changed and I wouldnt register here if there was an option of an alternative.

  10. Review titled Outstanding care

Rated 5 stars out of 5

by Anonymous - Posted on 23 September 2023

My Mum recently received care from Health Care First and although I know this practice amongst the rest get a lot of criticism we cannot fault them for their care from the GP who was involved in her care. She regularly checks in on my Mum until the medication is stabilising the condition. She also listened attentively and respected the decisions we made.
