    Having become a full time carer for my husband it is often very difficult to manage to get through the system, even though I spent my working life as a nurse and as recently calls are misinterpreted eg. a recent call to say that my husbands condition was worsening was taken to mean that I wanted to increase his medication??. However the Patient experience manager can always be relied on to provide appropriate support and direct my queries to the appropriate person when there does not seem to be anyone else who knows where to go. She can always be relied upon to do things in a very prompt manner and does not forget or fail to recontact you about the issue. Until you become a carer you do not realise how difficult everything is - from ordering meds that all seem to run out at different times to ordering barrier creams and only being prescribed one tiny 27 gram tube so having someone that smooths the way and coordinates care for a patient is extremely helpful. It would be nice if there was a GP allocated to follow up patients with long term conditions as happened with my husbands mental health but this seems to have been abandoned although his condition has worsened but having a supportive patient experience manager has helped provide me with some much needed support and I value her help.

    I got the wrong time for my daughters appointment and came down to the surgery and explained, the receptionist went out of her way to try and get another appointment with one of the nurses and was really helpful. I was really thankful for her helping me. we got another appointment at 11.45am 25/11/2022

    Trying to get through to this surgery on the phone if virtually impossible, you need the patience of a saint. It could well be several days before you get through because what usually happens is after you finish listening to the interminable recorded message and push button options, you are informed that "We are experiencing a high volume of calls, please call again later." At which point the phone cuts off. This is so annoying and frustrating to say the least. Also when you do get through, you are informed you are number 49 or so in the call queue, I was on hold for about 45 minutes recently. I could have opted for a call back but this isn't totally reliable as they sometimes don't bother calling back. If they can't handle the amount of calls then they obviously need more people on the phone lines?

    Dear Mr Mellor I am sorry to learn that you have been dissatisfied with the service we have provided and I thank you for taking the time to leave your feedback. I completely understand the frustrations of our patients and recognise the difficulties experienced in getting through on the phones and accessing appointments. Unfortunately, this is a problem experienced by GP Practices right across the country due to staffing constraints and very high levels of patient demand. Currently we receive in excess of 50,000 calls per month and are constantly looking at ways in which we can improve. We continue to try and recruit more staff both clinically and non-clinically and make improvements to try and meet more of the patient demand than we currently do. I can confirm when you press option 2 for a call back it is the system that calls you back automatically when you reach number 1 in the que not a call handler. The only problem we are finding with this choice is the return call will be made on the number you originally called from. So for example if you leave the property you called from and take you mobile you will miss the call.     I recently visited the practice and saw a doctor regarding menopause symptoms. In the process of a really thorough investigation into that the doctor found other issues which is now also being investigated. The doctor has called me on a few occasions since to update me and ensure I am aware of next steps/investigations. I can't speak highly enough of the way I have been looked after. I have previous experience of the same doctor when I was poorly with COVID. Such a caring individual who made a difference and reassured me when I was worried.

    Very caring practice and doctors, my son is receiving great care for his skin condition and with the help of doctors we have now been referred to dermatology which a huge step for his recovery. The doctors show so much compassion and are trying everything they can to help my son get sorted.
