Visited this week and saw a doctor who we considered excellent in both manner and also listened to the problem and arranged matters to solve it.

  3. Review titled Let down by service

Rated 2 stars out of 5

by Liam - Posted on 25 April 2024

I had face swelling on my cheek and with pain and redness around my eye. I went to the pharmacy who recommended I contact the GP today. I went home and contacted the GP after being on hold for about 20 minutes I got told to fill out an online form and a doctor would contact me. I did this and I received a text message telling me to go visit an optician. No opticians were available that day, my symptoms were getting worse so I had to pay for a private GP appointment who swiftly prescribed antibiotics for dacryocystitis. This appointment took 10 minutes and the doctor immediately knew the issue and prescribed the medicine. I was trying to be proactive to minimise time off work but I felt dismissed and it doesn't encourage me to contact this practice in the future. All the messaging on the phone lines is very negative and makes you feel guilty for ringing. Overall a poor experience and alot of improvements can be made.

Dear Liam, Thank you for taking the time to share your experience with us. I am sorry the pharmacist referred you to the GP practice in this instance rather than advise you to self-refer to a minor eye clinic, and I can fully understand your frustration on contacting us to then be signposted to an ophthalmologist who specializes in treating disorders of the eye. GP's are not well placed to treat eyes and we will always recommend seeing an optician at a minor eye clinic as we do not have the equipment to examine the eyes thoroughly. Our team aim to provide patients with the best services available to treat their conditions and I apologise if the advice given on this occasion left you feeling dismissed as that was certainly not our intention. There are approximately 20 minor eye clinics to choose from within the practice catchment area that provide treatment for people with eye problems such as dacryocystitis (blocked tear duct). Normally, once patients have chosen an optical practice that is convenient, on contacting them to book an appointment, some questions will be asked about symptoms and the team will assess how quickly a patient needs to be seen. Depending on the symptoms, patients are normally seen within 24 hours or a few working days. Unfortunately we do not have control on wait times outside of our own practice appointment system and as record NHS waiting times appear to be increasing, the number of patients who would previously have gone down an NHS pathway, are opting to seek treatment privately (as this appears in your case). In response to your comment about the messages on our phoneline being negative, I'd like to reassure you that our goal is always to keep the general public informed. Our phone lines are extremely busy and in an attempt to reduce the time patients are waiting to get through to speak to our advisors, and help keep our phonlines free for our vulnerable patients or those who are not tech savvy, we do advise alternative communication routes via our website. Much of the information available on our phoneline provides valuable information to the most popular questions the administrative team are asked on a daily basis. Providing options to contact the practice online and information whilst waiting in the phoneline queue helps callers decide whether they still need to remain waiting to speak to a member of our team. Whilst we make every effort to give the best service possible to all our patients, we acknowledge that on occasions, some can be left feeling that they have a genuine cause to raise concerns, and I apologies if we have not met your expectations on this time. We always welcome patient feedback, especially where patients have suggestions or ideas for improvements, so if you would like to discuss this matter further, please contact the practice and ask for the Operations Manager Tracy Platt. Kind Regards, Tracy

  4. Review titled Outstanding service

Rated 5 stars out of 5

by Linda - Posted on 12 March 2024

My young daughter was unwell and I contacted the practice close to closing time, the admin staff were extremely helpful and kind. They got an urgent message to the on call GP and they kindly saw us that evening. The GP was wonderful, kind, considerate, thorough and discussed the management plan with me. I was so grateful for their prompt and expert assessment. The admin staff at the practice were also lovely and helpful while we were there. An outstanding service from exceptional staff. Thank you

  5. Review titled Always a good service on all fronts

Rated 5 stars out of 5

by Alan Curme - Posted on 27 March 2024

A slite disappointment though. Ask to complete a blood test over 7 days. I said I was away over the weekend. When I applied my recordings it only allowed a couple of days. The 7 days should start from the 1st record not by date as yours obviously does. Yes I have a high blood pressure even more so now

Rated 5 stars out of 5

Following completion of an online triage form I was spoken to by a GP and bloods and an ECG were carried out asap. Repeats done due to findings , I was squeezed in as I was going away. Everyone I dealt with at all levels was courteous and friendly. Great service.
