Got an appointment straight away, spoke to an health care assistant or doctor, not sure which, but very helpful, got an appointment the same day, within walking distance of my home, v pleased with the service.

  2. Review titled Poor Service & No Appointments

Rated 2 stars out of 5

by Anonymous - Posted on 12 February 2024

Every time I call bang on 8am I am around 10th place in the queue and by the time they get to me at 8:15-20 they are fully booked. I had a chest infection and I have asthma and they made me call 3 days in a row. Each day they said they had no slots left, and to go to A&E, who actually were so busy they posted a video online saying please stop coming. The 3rd day when they told me they had no slots left I had to beg as I couldn’t breathe, and had to stop every 3 words to catch my breath. They had to then find a doctor and ask if it was okay for me to be seen. I’ve now been struggling with a back issue. I called bang on 8am. I was 11th in the queue. I got through at 8:20 and they told me they were at capacity and to call back at 5pm. I tried the online form on their website but it said fully booked too. At 5pm I couldn’t get my call to go through, I would click through the options (both 1 and 2) and it would say they are experiencing too many calls and to keep trying. Then it would hang up. It did this several times and I kept trying. By 5:10 it connected, and said I was 19th in the queue. I got through by 5:45/50 and the woman said as it was 10 to 6 there were no more slots and that I should’ve called at 5. I said I tried to but I kept hanging up and eventually it took me to 19th in queue which I waited 40 minutes. She said that phone lines were steady but not over busy and that it was strange… as if this didn’t happen?! I then said how I’d tried on the NHS app at 5:10 too and it was closed already. And how I’d called at 8am and after 10 people in front of me they were fully booked?! Disgusting service. Not enough appointments. Serious neglect of people’s health and wellbeing. Always been the same but has gotten so much worse within this past year or two. Have to literally beg to be seen. And yet when I had an appointment with a suspicious mole on my neck, I waited 30 minutes over my appointment time, sat down in the room, was then given the all clear and was in there less than 10 seconds. So why the wait and why not more appointments?

Dear patient, Thank you for submitting your review for the practice. I cannot investigate this as reviews do not hold patient identifiable data. Should you wish for us to look into this for you, please visit our website to do so. In regards to your review, there are a few points I would like to speak about. BMA guidance suggest a safe number of appointments that GP's and other clinicians should see patients in each day. Most days, our GP's and other clinicians are seeing above the BMA guidance due to demand, on top of all other background processes and work. When we are at full capacity, this means that the GP's and other clinicians have no other space to book any appointments in and doing so could be clinically unsafe. Whilst a member of our team may have said that the lines were steady, they cannot see how many patients are queueing and if there has been a patient with a complex call that has taken some time. Our call centre and triage team work hard and efficiently to try and deal with queries in the quickest and safest manner to enable patients to navigate our system better, but unfortunately we cannot control how many patients are calling the surgery. The issues that you have mentioned are that of a wider NHS. Ultimately, many practices are struggling to meet the demand for patients which is why other options outside of the practice are becoming more regularly available. We apologise for any inconvenienced caused for you on this instance and if you would like to contact us, please do so. Sincerely, Reece Operations Manager

The nurse appointment I attended at Avenue House was conducted by a very professional compassionate and understanding lady. Some tests can cause much anxiety, but I was treated with kindness and put at ease.

  5. Review titled Great information

Rated 4 stars out of 5

The specific doctor I saw today made me feel listened too and taken seriously. She took her time to explain what could be causing me problems, problems that have been going on years. She made me feel cared for and not rushed which I really appreciated.

  6. Review titled A good consultation

Rated 5 stars out of 5

by Anonymous - Posted on 17 January 2024

The doctor was a great listener, was kind, patient and respectful. This was my first appointment with this GP she had researched my medical history very well and showed good understanding of my situation. The GP’s examination seemed thorough and very well explained. She listened carefully and patiently to my fears and expectations and was kind and reassuring. All her promises of contact for ongoing treatment have come to fruition. I am very happy with this level of treatment and service. Thank you.

  7. Review titled Terrible and clearly discriminate

Rated 1 star out of 5

by Anonymous - Posted on 04 January 2024

I used the online service to request a blood test I was phoned back and told the earliest appointments available were in the 18th of January at school run o'clock. I'm a single mum the surgery knows this full well. Only for me to then take my sister to the Doctors for her to make an appointment for a blood test and be offered one Saturday morning.Sadly this isn't the first time this has happened this surgery really needs looking into they clearly discriminate against people they don't like and it's blatantly obvious. I am beyond disgusted with how I am constantly treated by this surgery only to be time some patients need more care I suffer with severe mental health issues so being time this is beyond belief to me.

Dear Patient, Thank you for taking the time to leave your comments and review of Inspire Health. We are so very sorry to hear of your concerns and frustrations. Unfortunately the circumstances surrounding this are not clear. It may have possibly been due to a cancellation of an appointment which enabled your relative to book into an earlier slot? If you would like the practice to look into this matter in more depth individually, please do get in touch with the practice by either completing the online complaints form via our website or by contacting the surgery and raising your complaint verbally. Inspire Health endeavour to provide patients with an exceptional level of care and respect. We are so very sorry to hear of your feelings that this may not have occurred. 9. Review titled Helpful, efficient and professional.

Rated 5 stars out of 5

by Andy - Posted on 13 January 2024

Can't fault my experience recently at Avenue House. I submitted a medical request and although I was given a phone appointment a few days later and as a reasonable adjustment due to being autistic I can't generally have phone calls, I messaged them and they rectified this promptly and I got a face to face appointment on the same day that my phone appointment would have been. I had not seen this particular doctor before but she was fantastic. Upbeat, bright, chatty, engaging and clear at explaining things. Got everything sorted out for me, provided no barriers and very efficient with it. Exemplary care and communication to the level of standard that I expect and appreciate. Blood test was arranged for next day which when I arrived for it, the reception team were already fully aware of my adjustments including not to wait in the main waiting area without me even asking. They were on the ball and reliable which was impressive. Nurse taking the bloods was also attentive, seemed to be aware of my needs and handled the session accordingly and again, really impressed with the awareness of my needs, the consistency and this was such a pleasant experience. If every encounter with the practice was like today, and as it should be every time, then I would have no hesitation in recommending this practice as the most professional around. Sadly, this is not the case at the moment but this experience gave me some confidence that the practice may at last be learning from previous mistakes and really making a positive difference to patients experiences and medical care.

  10. Review titled Appointment bookings

Rated 2 stars out of 5

by Anonymous - Posted on 17 January 2024

It is an absolute joke that you are only doing same day appointments now, it is nearly impossible to see a GP, it wasn’t this way before COVID, you will find you are stretched thin because you are not booking advanced appointments. How will you catch serious illnesses before it’s too late if no one can make an appointment? There are thousands of people who are not receiving the treatment they need and are potentially dying because of your inability to organise appointments adequately. Sort it out.

Dear patient, Thank you for taking the time to leave your comments and review. I am somewhat saddened and sorry to hear of your frustrations regarding the appointment system. I do however feel your comments are not fully accurate and do not fairly reflect the appointment system in place at Inspire Health. Inspire Health, as with many other practices, have adopted a 'total triage' stance with appointments. This means that all clinical appointment requests are screened and triaged by a GP to offer an appropriate appointment or sign-post to a more suitable service. It is not simply true that the practice offers only 'same-day' appointments and I can confirm that the practice offers both urgent on the day appointments as well as more routine based appointments that are booked in advance. All requests are triaged regardless of urgency and this is to ensure patient safety. Your comments are concerning and wonder if there is more to this matter than your comments suggest. If you would like Inspire Health to look into this matter more specifically for you, please do get in touch with the practice by either telephoneing or completing the online complaint form which can be found on the Inspire Health website. We would of course be happy to address any concerns that you may have. Warm regards, Inspire Health Management Team
