  1. Review titled Not good practise

Rated 1 star out of 5

by Anonymous - Posted on 03 June 2024

I’m not happy with my experiences of this GP, it is such a difficult process to get an appointment. Whoever idea it was to fill out a form online instead of book with reception is horrible horrible, I wish they would fix this and bring ut back to the old process. The amount of times I have not been able to get an appointment straight away, I tried calling online then they tell me to fill out a form, wasted 30 minutes of my time to reach them through call, and didn’t even receive an appointment, how much easier this would be if it was just book an appointment as you called. Everytime I have tried to book an appointment it’s never straight forward this infuriated me and I feel like there’s lack of help and clarity to understand why and how this process is supposed to be easier. I hope people listen to the reviews and try improve the process because this is ridiculous

  2. Review titled No Call back

Rated 2 stars out of 5

by Nigel Cope - Posted on 23 April 2024

Sent request form appointment on the 15 April 2024. No Call back has been received, although this should be done in 3 working days Attend surgery Friday 19th April, to be told I was Amber rated and if heard nothing till Tuesday, return to surgery. Returned to surgery as requested on Tuesday 23 April, to be told, should not have been told to come back. When receptionist looked into, file had been closed, no phone calls no appointments nothing. She reopened for hopefully a call. When I said on leaving it was lucky I did come in wasn't it, she said yes. So hopefully not a serious problem!!

  3. Review titled Zero communication

Rated 1 star out of 5

by Jade - Posted on 04 April 2024

I had bloods taken 23rd jan and finally on 3rd April I received a test message saying I had levels which had gotten worse. Text messages leave no option for the patient to question the doctor and gain reassurance at all. My relative had chest xrays 21st Feb. Today(4/4/24) I called to request they report his results to be told he has to ring them. They dont go out of their way to report any results whatsoever. Whats the point of tests if you never heard the results. Dont worry that youve been coughing for months on end, because they dont worry about you

  5. Review titled Poor communication

Rated 4 stars out of 5

by Paul - Posted on 21 March 2024

Two water infections treated using antibiotics, but caused by e-coli, no communication. Blood in faecal sample, no communication. Ultrasound detected problems, no communication. Purely coincidence that I was seeing other clinicians not associated with above that I found out about them. Care to comment?

After being in the queue of 7 for about 20 minutes we got to the caller 1 position when we were cut off, this was at 17 20 hrs. Tried calling again but they were engaged till the surgery closed at 1800 hrs.

Chances of a GP consultation are slim. 9 month wait so far for scan results and follow up appointment. Symptoms getting worse and still no appointment availability. Shocking services.

  9. Review titled Utterly disgraceful, urgent action needed

Rated 1 star out of 5

by Anonymous - Posted on 14 July 2023

Since moving to Workington 2 years ago I have been unable to make a single GP appointment with this practice, despite having a number of serious conditions. They insist patients phone at 8am but you are then unable to get through the queue for an hour or more, at which point you are told to call again tomorrow. They refuse to make you an appointment if you walk in or phone at any other time, telling you to phone 'tomorrow'. Everyone in Workington has been forced to register with this one, useless, practice. Whilst waiting on the phone one is subjected to warnings of being sent to prison if one were to verbally abuse the staff. What these idio*s do not understand is that , if they were to provide a good, decent, acceptable service then no-one would have any desire to abuse their staff!! How any competent service could operate like this beggars belief. As a matter of urgency the NHS needs to take immediate, decisive, action to sort out this practice because patients are suffering and even dying due to the lack of an acceptable health service in Workingtom.

I am sorry that this has been your experience. With your review being anonymous we cannot do anything to try and help, to investigate or to provide you with an explanation. The practice does have a dedicated complaints email address that you can contact on nencicb-cu.workingtongpcomplaints@nhs.net if you would like any further help. There are alternative ways to contact the practice regarding appointment. Online consult is an option for non-emergency conditions, further information can be found on the practice website around online consultations. Kind regards, Alison Patient experience

  10. Review titled Diffucult Getting Appointment

Rated 2 stars out of 5

by Stephen Straughton - Posted on 15 June 2023

Requesting an online consultation from the website is virtually useless. It fails to even recognise common medical conditions at the search stage. Phoning the goup practice number is very frustrating, you listen to the pre recorded message for a minute then press option 1 for an appointment, you then get an engaged tone for circa 30 seconds befire getting cut off. Thus is repetetive and is disgraceful.

I am sorry you find the search with on-line consult option difficult to navigate. This is part of the patient system we use called EMIS. This system is used by over 7500+ GP practices in the country and figures available on their website show that over 3000 of these practices also use the e-consult option. The telephone system does work well and when you choose the option for an appointment this then places you in a second queue there are only so many phone queue positions available. When you receive an engaged tone this means you have not been able to secure one of the queue positions and must dial again to the main number then select option 1. We are aware that this is frustrating for many patients and we liaise with the telephone supplier regularly to identify areas for improvement. Kind regards Alison NCPC Patient Experience
