  1. Review titled Troubling experiences

Rated 2 stars out of 5

by Seline - Posted on 13 March 2024

There's a sudden rush of very positive stories about the practice .We feel we must respond because we have very different experiences. As parents and as carers of older vulnerable parents and we have been registered here many many years so really seen the good and the bad over time. There's not been a manager available if we've asked for one and when communication is very poor or a receptionist is very rude as is sometimes the case, there needs to be. I've also seen very distressed patients in the queue who've needed extra support. Where a manager should come out. One of our own parents who is very vulnerable has had that experience and come away in tears not getting an appointment because their memory problems and confusion got in the way. Yet according to reviews here it's really easy. As parents it continues to be very worrying that there is no clear route through to getting to see a GP. These are time critical incidents yet so much confusion too many times about whether or not can see a GP. Triage is just an obstacle where you're told to send a photo and then because you can't diagnose from a photo an appt has to be arranged. But by then there aren't any - too many reasons to list here why not. Skip the triage and our children are seen and treated as should be. Specifically, one of our very young children had contact with another child with measles and got very ill. We felt they needed to be seen and NHS 111 told us contact the GP so we did. Then no appointments or an appointment with a nurse and then waited for a triage callback that never came. So NHS 111 told us to go to A&E We don't see listening or learning.

Call handler didn’t seemed rushed, asked probing questions about how long certain symptoms had been going on and was helpful and empathetic throughout. A great, calming voice to speak to.

  3. Review titled Deep rooted problems

Rated 2 stars out of 5

by Sal - Posted on 05 February 2024

Way too hard to get through and telephone system still not fit for purpose as cuts you off after long wait. Have asked to see a Dr- no diary, no appointments, Dr's strike mean not possible. Tell me call back so spend 10 hrs one week on the phone still can't get an appointment. Duty Dr hasn't even called back! Econsult so poor needs it's own review page! Offering different care levels to different people? Very distressing stories from my neighbours and community about how they're being treated. Surgery views on mental health worry us. If reception asking why patient calling and then they find the patient too distressing that's a problem. Those reception staff are then too far out of their depth. Suggestion: One very good reception asked my sister if she needed the Dr appt for physical or mental health then made the appointment straight away ,no triage after she said mental health. That's what should happen standard. Why aren't Dr's here keeping back appointments for when these urgent cases are coming through? It's a much safer approach. Vcredit to her - thats the standard need.

  6. Review titled Questions

Rated 1 star out of 5

by Anonymous - Posted on 03 February 2024

We hit a brick wall many times trying to get any Dr appointment so we have asked to speak to a practice manager many times now .They're never available. No one has ever got back to us. We're not sure messages get through. We get put through to reception supervisors or reception managers . This tells us that there is a ladder of NHS hierarchy more akin to hospital settings - shouldn't exist in a GP practice. We have young kids and it's very hard/ impossible even trying to get a duty appt. There's no system of priority there's no separate telephone option ( like NHS 111). Always told young children don't take priority when they are meant to. 3 times my kids have ended up admitted to hospital which was preventable and very distressing. We'd like that system changed immediately but there's no managers to talk to and crucially no continuity of GP . These experiences then sour relationships. So who is taking responsibility? Add to that I have a serious illness that's not being monitored as I can't get any routine appointment. Despite saying its possible to ask to see someone I have been given a stream of different excuses as to why not possible. For over 6 months. It's disingenuous to say ring the practice manager when patients are told they can't . And emails trying to report problems are totally ignored. We would be too concerned to raise a formal complaint because it shouldn't be the culture that we as patients are pushed down that road .Extremely stressful to do so. Time better spent facing up to problems and improving communication.

The doctor was welcoming, professional, and engaged our family in my son's care plan. The e-consult at the GP practice was efficient, allowing us a same-day face-to-face consult and the prescription was ready to be collected at the pharmacy right after consultation. Highly recommend for their excellent care and speedy process!

Rated 5 stars out of 5

I called on Monday at about 10am, the doctor called back at 3pm and was able to see me at 6:10pm, after I finished work. Doctor took sample, prescribed necessary medication, and also a referral to rntne which will contact me to make an appointment for further services, sincerely appreciate the doctor for seeing me so late and doing everything within about 15 minutes!
