Review titled Very efficient and kind pharmacist
Rated 4 stars out of 5
by Kathy Cole - Posted on 04 February 2025
I saw the pharmacist last month, face to face. He was very professional and kind. He set up a plan, got back to me to review the situation and added the new medication to my on line pharmacy. I missed his call so phoned back and got straight through. The system does work!

Review titled Appalling communications

Please tell me why your phone system is so awful and why when I make a medication request on the NHS app nothing happens. Furthermore my recent medical history and letters from the hospital aren't shown on the app? So sad it was all so much better until you moved from the old premises.

Dear Chris Johnson, Thank you for taking the time to share your feedback. We are sorry to hear about your frustrations and appreciate the opportunity to address your concerns. You will be pleased to hear that we have this week introduced a new phone system to help us manage the high volume of calls we receive each day. The system includes features such as a callback function, designed to make it easier for patients to reach us and reduce the time spent waiting in the queue. We are confident this will improve access for both patients and healthcare professionals moving forward. Regarding the NHS app, while we cannot control its functionality, we’d be happy to discuss your concerns in more detail to see if we can identify any issues affecting your connection or app usage. We are committed to continually improving our services and ensuring patients receive the best care possible. Thank you for bringing these matters to our attention, and please don’t hesitate to contact us directly if you would like to discuss this further. Kind regards, Alex Rubin GP Partner

Review titled Terrible
Rated 1 star out of 5
by Wendy - Posted on 20 January 2025
Had an appointment to see a GP today 20th Jan 2025 booked over 2weeks prior had to leave the surgery after 55 minutes due to another appointment as my appointment was 10.20 and at 11 05 had still not been seen, no communication about delays. The patient who went in before me at 10.40 had an appointment at 10. Fuming. It is so hard to get an appointment with a GP and then it overruns, thought they only allowed 15mins per appointment would not have been so mad if someone had kept patients informed.

Dear Wendy, Thank you for taking the time to share your feedback. We are very sorry to hear about your experience and the frustration it caused. We sincerely apologise for the delay in your appointment and for the lack of communication about the wait time. While we do aim to keep appointments running on schedule, unforeseen circumstances can sometimes cause delays, particularly if a patient requires additional time for a complex issue. However, we completely understand how frustrating it can be when this impacts your own plans, and we should have kept you informed about the situation. Your feedback highlights the need for better communication with patients in these situations, and we will work with our team to ensure delays are communicated promptly in future. Kind regards, Dr Alex Rubin GP Partner Knebworth and Marymead Medical Practice

Very, very unclear communication. Confusing website, indifferent staff, conflicting messages... just getting an appointment is enough to drive you to despair.

Review titled Appalling service

The only way to get a appt is to fill a form at 8:30am … and then when you complete the form, you never get an appt. I have been filling the same form for the last 2 weeks and now I’m asked to wait four more weeks before I can see a dr with an ongoing issue that needs treatment now not in one months time. I also requested an appt for a very concerning lump and was rudely advised that they had “emergencies” to deal with and my complaint was not an emergency (which they don’t know for sure as they haven’t even looked at it!!!!) The person then hung up on me mid-sentence. Absolutely disgusted - they claim they are “Veteran friendly” …. Pfft this army veteran would disagree. Now I have weeks of uncertainty worrying about a lump …. Shocking

Review titled Simply not fit for purpose

Virtually impossible to get an appointment. This is a very serious issue with little evidence that is understood and being addressed. And still they are advertising for new patients!!!

Beyond unbelievable. In 10 years registered here, I only managed to see a GP once face to face and then on this one occasion, he was so curt that I felt like I was wasting his time. Requests are, by and large, ignored or extremely slow to respond. I am finally leaving this surgery. How stupid I’ve been to hang around for so long. Newcomers please note and rather register elsewhere for your own sake.

Review titled Star staff member on prescriptions
Rated 2 stars out of 5
by Kathlene Brown - Posted on 04 November 2024
Having had ongoing problems since April over missing paperwork sent from my Parkinson specialist after attending surgery last week with paperwork confirming amendments to my medication then receiving confirmation this amendment sent to pharmacy… only to again receive an incorrect prescription! Today I called and to my delight spoke to a lady who is extremely efficient patient and helpful immediately spotted the correct requirement and arranging to issue correction to prescription today. This is not the first time this lady has come to my rescue and to hear her voice was such a relief. Thank you so much , such a shame I cannot name you you in person you are an asset to this practise

Review titled Really bad communication
Rated 1 star out of 5
by Anonymous - Posted on 22 October 2024
Total triage Can't get through on phone line to speak to anyone. The online form doesn't cover all needs we have. I'm a unpaid carer for my elderly Mum who has memory issues. I don't have the time to spend hours on the phone or to try to fill in a form at 8 in the morning that frequently closes and is then unavailable The form doesn't fill our needs. We don't know if and when someone will call back. I don't have a phone in my pocket wherever I am. Or am able to answer at whim. With other commitments. Driving, working etc. We need a call line, with an answer available quickly or quick call back service. Practice needs better phone lines. More staff to answer or provide automatic call back. Separate line for admin. Or non appointment calls.

Dear Anonymous, Thank you for taking the time to share your feedback. We are very sorry to hear about your frustrations with our communication systems and the challenges you’ve faced while caring for your elderly Mum. We understand that as an unpaid carer, your time is extremely valuable, and we regret that in the past our systems have not met your needs. While our online triage form aims to prioritise patient concerns, we recognise it may not always cover every situation. To address some of the issues you’ve raised, we have recently introduced a new phone system that includes features such as a callback function, which we hope will improve access and reduce waiting times. This system is designed to manage high call volumes more efficiently and provide a better experience for patients. In the meantime, please don’t hesitate to contact the practice if you have further concerns. Thank you again for your feedback, and we sincerely apologise for the inconvenience you have experienced. Kind regards, Dr Alex Rubin GP Partner Knebworth and Marymead Medical Practice

Review titled Poor and Deceiving Service
by Eugene - Posted on 23 October 2024
I had a Fungal (Very bad since 2 years ago) and went to my former GP Surgery in Stevenage and they prescribed (Terbinafine 250mg) but because i was told by GP then that the medication need to be monitored with blood test to make sure it doesn't affect my liver then i decided to use alternative medicated nail lacquer (CURANAIL)to cure the Fungal, hoping that would help but it just gets worse. I was surprised Knebworth and Marymead Surgery said NHS doesn't prescribed Terbinafine medications anymore, that i should go to private but i have consulted Teladoc Private Health GP and he said that is not true, but he stress that Knebworth and Marymead can decide not to prescribe medications (terbinafine) but not to said that NHS doesn't prescribe it. This Medication was prescribed at the GP Surgery in Stevenage so why Knebworth and Marymead refused and hang it on NHS?

Dear Eugene, Thank you for taking the time to share your feedback. We are sorry to hear about your experience and the challenges you’ve faced in managing your condition. We would like to clarify that while terbinafine can still be prescribed on the NHS for certain conditions, decisions about prescribing are guided by local formularies and clinical guidelines. These are in place to ensure safe and effective prescribing based on evidence and local resources. Private services, such as Teladoc, may not always be aware of or bound by these local prescribing guidelines, which could explain the differing advice you received. If you would like to discuss this further or explore other treatment options, please do not hesitate to contact the practice directly to arrange a consultation.
