  1. Review titled Terrible surgery

Rated 1 star out of 5

by Nick Corbett - Posted on 20 July 2023

I often get frustrated with this surgery's awful online form system of booking an appointment since introduction, but I did get to see a GP earlier this month for symptoms that are of great concern to me. Understanding a time dependant process maybe necessary, the GP I saw initially made a follow up appointment in 2 weeks (today) to review my progress. Imagine my surprise when I arrived at the surgery to be told that the GP who made the appointment was not even on duty.! I said I would wait and would hope to see another GP now I was here, but I was told they were all fully booked for the rest of the day. I asked if they could book me into the next available slot on any day, as the booking error was not down to me. but they would not help here either. They said my only option was to fill out the online form at 8am the next morning and wait to see what happened..!! This is really poor. In general, this was once a good surgery, it seems now that every effort is made to deny access to a GP. I'm not sure how filling in an online form helps the elderly, those probably most in need of prompt GP support and the least likely to have computer access..!! They seem to spend an inordinate amount of time and effort on `training` at this surgery, I hope some of these many, many hours are spent on basics, like how to use the appointment booking system.!!

I have tried from last Friday and for 3 days this week to get an appointment, set my alarm for 0750 and sat at my computer waiting for 0800 to click over, to be informed 08:01am that all appointments for the day had been allocated! please please! explain to me how this happens in less than a minute of lines opening? when your website "states that lines are open at 0800am for online appointments" - Hopeless!!!!

Dear Pauline, Im sorry you have been having issues submitting a request via the website. Sadly we are limited to a specified number of forms each day dependent on the safe clinical capacity on the day. Please be assured we are working in increasing our capacity in order to see more patients each day. Kind Regards Langley Corner Surgery

  3. Review titled Absolutely appalling.

I have been trying to get a appointment for the last 4 days. I am on holiday and is the only time I can do this, as I am normally working at 8. I am on anti-depressants and I need to see a doctor concerning this. Talk about getting stressed just trying to make this appointment. It shouldn't be this hard. All the appointments had gone by 8.03. How? I thought I was fast at typing but the people getting the appointments my be extraordinarily fast. Unless admin is deciding who gets the appointments after the initial surge at 8. Is it then decided who is more important to get the appointment. This Surgery used to be so good, but it's sad case of affairs that this Surgery is now so poor.

  4. Review titled Awful Practice - Avoid!

Rated 1 star out of 5

by Thomas Mitchell - Posted on 10 February 2023

I have been unwell for 2 months, but repeatedly unable to speak to a GP. My only option has been to go to A&E for prescriptions. I could have a serious illness, but they really don't care.

  5. Review titled Used to be such a good surgery

Rated 1 star out of 5

Langley Corner used to be a wonderful practice.Sadly these days it is not fit for purpose. The email appointment system simply doesn't work, reception staff give the impression they don't care, some actually smirk at you when you arrive and after 30 minutes sitting their they tell you(with the smirk)it's a telephone appointment. How you can have a telephone appointment with a non speaking person without capacity God only knows. This appointment had actually been obtained after a serious escalation resulting in no appointment until routine tests completed at hospital(organised by self),then an appointment with HCA for routine physical health check followed by Gp appointment 10 days later. Nearly a month to end with a receptionist who was so amused we had attended for a telephone appointment. End result is my loved one is now in full time residential care because it is unsafe for me to be full time carer when I can't support any physical health needs whilst a patient at this surgery. As an individual myself with long term enduring diagnosis and unable to book even annual review this surgery leaves me in despair. Reading the other reviews I'm not alone in my thoughts.

  6. Review titled Unsupportive

Rated 2 stars out of 5

by Anonymous - Posted on 06 January 2023

My wife is completing this as I am dyslexic. Following a recommendation from a doctor in accident and emergency, I submitted my blood pressure readings to the surgery via email to be evaluated. After around 10 days (30/12/2022), I received a text asking me to call the surgery and make a telephone appointment. I did this on the 30th and was told that I had an appointment on Tuesday 3rd January at 4.30pm with a doctor. On the 3rd,no call came, so I phoned the surgery at around 5.10pm. The receptionist told me that there was no appointment made for 3rd with the doctor and in fact, my appoint was on Thursday with a nurse. When I came off the phone feeling extremely confused, my wife confirmed that I wasn't loosing my marbles and that the appointment had been booked for 3rd. She then asked me what time this new appointment was for. I then called the surgery back and was told it was at 2.40pm. The following day, my wife took a call from the surgery's dietician who wanted to make an appointment to see me as we had previously requested about 1 month ago. Whilst she was on the phone, my wife queried the rearranged appointment to discuss my blood pressure and she confirmed that it was on Thursday 5th at 2.40pm. Thursday and by 3.25pm, there was no phone call, so I called the surgery. I began to get upset (and began to question my memory) as they denied that a call from the nurse was booked. I passed the phone to my wife to deal with as I could no longer cope with being given the run around. The person my wife spoke to said that no appointment had been made. Eventually, after my wife referred to the text that had been sent to me on 30th December, she agreed to contact the pharmacist to get me an appointment as the doctor would not be available going forward to speak to me. I then received a call back informing me that I would be receiving a call from the pharmacist sometime next Tuesday (I hope). If appointments need to be cancelled, please just call and let me know. It is not acceptable (especially for someone dyslexia who can get dates and times confused) to make and change appointments and then deny that the appointments had been made in the first place which is what you have done. Thank goodness that my wife was there when I made each call otherwise I would be questioning my own memory! I appreciate that the NHS is under enormous strain, but please treat your patients with respect and stop causing them needless distress and upset.

  7. Review titled Poor appointment system

Rated 1 star out of 5

by Anonymous - Posted on 24 January 2023

I have tried completing forms for 3 weeks on the day appointments when actually what I need is a long term health review with a particular doctor . When you work and have family commitments being able to prebook a non urgent appointment would be so much more beneficial.3 x I’ve tried to book my daughter an appointment to see a particular Doctor as she doesn’t want a man , the forms are all allocated by 2 minutes past 8 again this would be easily solved with prebook able appointments , I know have to wait another week to my day off to be able to try again I do not need 111 or utc appointments just a regular doctor appointment . This surgery is going down hill fast and can’t blame covid any longer .

Dear Patient, Thank you for your feedback and apologies you have struggled to book in for your Long Term Condition Review. As you are aware the appointment booking system is under significant demand as we try to meet the growing needs within the NHS and Primary Care. Please can you contact the surgery directly as your comment makes reference to your Long term Condition Review (LTC). The LTC reviews follow a different pathway than the “regular” GP appointments. LTC appointments are bookable in advance as explained in your LTC invite letter/messages. You will be asked to see a member of our nursing team prior to seeing the doctor for the review. We would need to speak with you directly to understand what you condition/s are in order for us to make the arrangements. Many thanks

Unable to make appointments, have bad record for referrals, they do not follow up when needed. Used to be really good but since the introduction of the new appointment system was introduced it has gone to pot. Can't even access the appointment form so how can you fill it in. Receptions seem very unhelpful.

  9. Review titled Disappointing Service

Rated 2 stars out of 5

by Fathima Mackeen - Posted on 23 November 2022

I have been calling to get an app for my 11-year-old daughter for a few weeks but keep being told there is nothing available for the day I also inquired about pre booking an appointment in advance thinking I have a better chance that way they said no they don't provide that service anymore. I have tried calling at 8:35 and was told I was over number 40 in the que. I reached speak to receptionist only to be told no appointment for the day all gone. the same thing is happening every time. Arrived at 8.40 and was greeted by an abrupt receptionist who told me all appointments for the day had gone. Without going into detail on here I explained it was for my young daughter who I was concerned about she suffers with epilepsy and have headaches constantly her consultant wanted me to contact the GP. I think the receptionists need to be more polite and caring then the once I delt with. I feel that there is no regard for patients anymore and it’s almost like you are being made to feel bad for even attempting to book an app. I know it’s out of the receptionist control but have a little bit of respect for the way you speak to people. I have to date not manage to get an appointment for my daughter which is a shame.

Dear Patient, I'm sorry to read you have not had a very good experience of the surgery in your recent visits. We communicated to all our patient of a new way to request an appointment so as of Monday 14th November 2022 we introduced a new appointment system where we ask you to go to our website www.langleycornersurgery.co.uk. On the opening page of our website click on the bright green button that says ‘New Patient Request Form’ The Request forms are available from 8am onwards and will be switched off when we are full to capacity and we will ask you to try again tomorrow or the next day. Your request will be triaged. You could be sent a message with an appointment time on that day. Or a message confirming the best way to deal with your request. This saves you having to phone and stay in a queue for your call to be answered. If you don’t have access to the internet then please call the surgery and your request will be dealt with over the phone. Kind regards Langley Corner Surgery
