  2. Review titled Horrible practice

Rated 1 star out of 5

Firstly, you have to wait for at least 15 mins on the phone to talk to someone at the reception. If you're not quick enough to call at 8:00 when the line opens, you'll be 30+ in the queue. Secondly, if you're not lucky enough and they decide your case in not urgent, you'll need to wait over a week to see a GP. I was in severe pain and the earliest available date I was offered was 10 days later. Finally, the GP that I saw was not very helpful. She didn't ask any additional questions about symptoms and didn't even bother to examine me.

  3. Review titled Good GP practice

Rated 4 stars out of 5

Like the call back service Was given an appointment within a few days Booked for further tests in surgery on the same day. Treatment room staff member was 10 minutes late as she was doing her 'e learning and lost track of time'. She did apologise. She was friendly and efficient, explaining the tests to me clearly. Unfortunately there was a dirty bandage underneath the Treatment couch, I pointed it out to staff member at the end of my consultation and she immediately started cleaning it up.

Although the doctor was running late, it was good to be informed of this when I signed in. It was also good for doctor came into the waiting room to call you up for your appointment, at least that way it was clear that it was your name being called out.

  5. Review titled A great practice

Rated 5 stars out of 5

by Chris - Posted on 26 July 2024

I've seen two doctors and one health care assistant at the practice for numerous appointments over the past year or so. At every appointment, I've been treated with respect and compassion, and I've felt very lucky to benefit from the expertise and hard work of the brilliant people here. The reception area is clean, open, and bright, with a lovely garden visible outside. Having a pharmacy attached to the practice is really handy, and the staff there are lovely, too. Such shortfalls as there are - difficulty getting an appointment at short notice, for example (I was 27th in the queue when I called one morning recently) - seem very much a product if wider systemic issues in the NHS, the pressures of which the staff at Lawrence Hill handle with grace.

I had my second shingles vaccine jab. I was seen on time by a friendly and helpful nurse. She explained what she was doing and ask me if I had any questions. All in all great service from a great surgery.

  8. Review titled My scheduled visit

Rated 2 stars out of 5

Very clean health centre. Used the self check-in screen with no problem. Was disappointed to see though the waiting area is very large many chairs have been removed resulting in you needing to sit very close to other patients around the perimeter of the waiting area. On the Screen on the wall it mentioned the number of appointments that have not been attended at the practice. To be honest I am not surprised to see this given when I had to ring up to rearrange an appointment that had been arranged via Text I was on hold for 54 minutes before someone answered. It is much easier surely for people to just not bother waiting for their call to be answered and to simply not attend their appointment. The telephone service is shocking at this health centre. When I checked in for my appointment the screen said that the doctor was running on time but I was seen 20 minutes later than scheduled. The GP did apologise that I had been kept waiting, which I appreciated. I have received a few text messages from the health centre inviting me along to focus group etc at the practice but unfortunately these are always during working hours. It would be nice if they could try and arrange some during early evening or at least after work. I’d be interested to go along and participate in any discussions to improve services at the health centre.

  10. Review titled Glad to be here

Rated 5 stars out of 5

I have had to produce blood samples to monitor kidney function while using diuretic medication. The practice nurses have been great (I'm a bit squeamish about this). My latest visit to the Treatment Room took place on Monday 22nd July.. Also, GPs have reviewed blood test results promptly and let me know about these, which has put my mind at rest (I worry if I don't hear anything).
