    I was surprised to get a text from the surgery advising me of the updated HRT guidelines from the British Menopause Society, and how this could affect my prescription. What a good way to keep people informed about their medications. It makes me have confidence in my local surgery that they have affective communication methods in place when things matter. It’s great to be able to share a positive experience when the NHS gets so much flack.

    Disappointed to have to write this, I would usually let this sort of behaviour go and put it down to poor on them. However I felt strongly given the unhelpful, abrupt interaction and behaviour from a receptionist during a call. From the outset she displayed a tone in her voice, almost irritated. Throughout the call she spoke over me, interrupted me and to my astonishment at one point after I tried to explain I was worried and had called previously but to no avail - I had been number 29 in the queue and as I wasn’t calling from my phone I couldn’t press to confirm call back. The rude receptionist Informed me she would go back to the day that I ‘claimed’ I had tried calling to check. Essentially implying I had lied. This is nothing short of unacceptable. I was simply seeking an appointment for an elderly relative - who had been seen at the RBH ED. I even explained we had received a text from the surgery confirming they were aware of the ED visit and if we required anything further to contact for an appointment - side note, this process needs to be reviewed. No kindness or helpfulness in her voice. This receptionist has really let the practice down. When I asked for her name and was honest that intended to feedback how I felt about her behaviour. The receptionist went on to abruptly tell me I had to write in if I wished to complain. Beggars belief. There are many ways as a patient or relative we can feedback both positively or negatively. I wonder if writing in would mean a complaint about behaviour may be intercepted. I work for the NHS also, I know how tough it can be and also how we can be faced daily with frustrations and/or abuse. I always take this into consideration when on the ‘other side’ as a patient or relative myself. Ending on a positive, In complete contrast I went on to speak the next day with the most amazing receptionist H. This receptionist could not have been more helpful and kind. After asking what the appointment was for she advised me she would speak to a clinical member of the team and call me back. This is exactly what happened, she was kind and compassionate and was aware that clinically my relative needed to be seen. I felt completely different. This receptionist is a credit. We were given an appointment for that day.

    Went into the surgery this morning with sever tonsils pain after a weekend of high fever and shivering. At 9.30 am I was seen by someone and was prescribed antibiotics for tonsillitis and was told to go to the pharmacy in one hour to pick up my prescription. Went to the pharmacy at 11 am and was told the prescription hasn't arrived yet and to try later. Went again one hour later and was told the exact same thing. Had to go back to the surgery, to be told that the prescription hasn't yet been released because needs to be signed by the doctor, and that I should call back after 3 pm to check where it is. All this happening to a patient who is in sever pain, with high fever that can barely eat or drink. Not to mention that instead of resting has to spend one entire day running between the doctor and the pharmacy for medicine that should be immediately available for any NHS contributor.

    Hello Mr Tarlea, you called the Practice on Monday morning 27th January at 8:06 a.m your call was answered in 3 minutes, you were booked in for an appointment at 9:30 a.m. you were advised the prescription needed to be authorised by our duty Doctor and would be available at the pharmacy after 3 pm.     I was criticised and judged very harshly by one of the doctors on two occasions during consultation. She was so critical of my health choices and kept interrupting me during consultation. I didn’t feel heard during the consultation and was made to feel guilty for my choices. I do not recommend this practice.

    The Practice is sorry that you felt judged. I am sure this was not the intention, on occasions clinicians do have to point out complications that can occur with certain procedures, it is not personal. All clinicians and staff at Loddon Vale try their very best for our patients. As you have made an anonymous review it is very difficult for a Practice to investigate, it would be in everyones best interest if you contact the Practice and discuss the issue if indeed there is one.     I honestly cant praise the entire team at Loddon Vale highly enough - I have been a ‘regular’ for the past couple of months with a chronic illness - everyone from Receptionists to Nurses, Hca’s and Drs… I have never been treated so well! The GP I have been seeing is so caring and thorough and I have full confidence in her. She has gone out of her way to arrange numerous urgent blood tests and hospital referrals and kept me informed the entire time. Having previously been a patient at 2 nearby surgeries, as well as working in several, I can honestly say this is The Best medical centre. Thank you to all of you, you’re fab!!

    I am not happy about travelling for blood tests. I am a full time carer for elderly parents, plus have a 7 year old grand daughter living with me. I do not have the time or money to travel to Bracknell or RBH. I can walk to surgery in 10 mins. As a cancer patient my husband is able to have blood tests so there are nurses to do it. I guess refusing to travel will mean my meds wont be prescribed without a test.

    Blood tests are avilable at the practice every day, due to very high demand of blood tests we need to ask patients who are able to go to Bracknell or the RBH, this way we can make sure our elderly and cancer patients can have their tests done here at the practice. We do try very our best to fit patients in where we can but there are some days when this is just not possible, I am sure if you explain your circumstances and are flexible the team would do their best to accomodate you.     The practice was brilliant in helping get my son an appointment today at really short notice. At around 4pm we went into the surgery after seeing the pharmacist and being recommended that my son need to see a doctor as had infected fingers. I popped in to get some advice on the quickest way that we could get him an appointment and within minutes the receptionist has managed to get my son an appointment to see a doctor. It was amazing that my son was fit in so quickly and seen to get the antibiotics that he needed. I would also like to thank the doctor who saw him. He was so friendly which straight away made my son relaxed and happy to show him the infected fingers. Thanks for such a great service and for taking the time out of what I am sure was a busy day.

    I wanted to say thank you so much to the medical practitioner/paramedic who has been treating me. I have been unwell with a chest infection for the whole of August but this medical practitioner took the time to arrange for tests to be undertaken and took me seriously so he could find out what the best antibiotics I needed to treat my infection so it will finally go away. I also was able to get effective pain relief when I was in pain from all the coughing I have been doing. Before this I had to see an emergency Doctor whilst I was away in Bogner Regis and they did not take the time to try and find out what was wrong and instead just gave me any antibiotics which is why my infection didn’t clear up and I had been ill for so long. I feel I have received really great care from Loddon Vale Practice and I’m very grateful.
