  1. Review titled Pharmacy Long Stratton

by Rita - Posted on 06 October 2024

Medications missing on my husbands repeat order and my own again October 4th 2024 I took our prescription into the Pharmacy 10 days before we needed our tablets I received a text saying our tablets were ready on the 3rd October I called to collect on Friday the 5th at 3pm on arriving at the Pharmacy several people were waiting for their prescriptions in front of me, I waited to be seen I collected a large plastic NHS bag and a paper bag with our tablets in as there were still many people waiting to be seen I didn't check the contents of the bags until arriving home, I checked mine to find I had tablets missing from mine and on checking my husbands he also had tablets missing, I rang the Pharmacy only to be told it closed at 3pm and I would need to phone again the next working day, which is now Monday 7th October I thought I'll email the Pharmacy on the email address supplied on our repeat prescriptions list I sent the email only to receive a message ''email not sent with a code error'' I am amazed I cannot speak to anyone in the Pharmacy at 3pm on a Friday and the email supplied is incorrect. We now have had no tablets since Friday my husband suffers with depression this has not helped. I will go in to see the Pharmacy early Monday 7th in hopes of sorting our tablets out.

  2. Review titled No continuity

Rated 2 stars out of 5

by David - Posted on 01 September 2024

In the last month, both my wife and I have experienced problems obtaining medication. We separately had on the day appointments for new but different conditions. We were given medication, just enough for 28 days, but not told what to do after that time. The medication was not added to our repeat prescriptions. I now find myself out of medication when the leaflet with it states that it may not be effective until 6 weeks and not to stop it until instructed to by a doctor. I have tried to get an appointment to ask the doctor but nothing available. 111 just tell me that I must see my doctor. I am so worried. What do I do?

  3. Review titled Mixed Bag

Rated 3 stars out of 5

by Caroline - Posted on 28 August 2024

This is a review of two halves. Prior to this year, I received very good service from the surgery. However, over the past month it has been the reverse. I saw someone at the surgery about a mole on my face which I was slightly concerned about it. This person was also concerned and referred me urgently to the hospital. The word cancer was used. It was said I would be seen within 2 weeks. The hospital subsequently downgraded me to the 'normal waiting list' - this is one year!!! The hospital said I could speak to my doctor's surgery again and request a letter for my case to be expedited. I did this the same day. The reception team said they would leave a message for the doctor. I heard nothing for two weeks. Finally, I received a call saying there was 'nothing they could do' and that the matter was 'out of their hands'. A medical professional had showed concern about a mark on my face, said I would be seen within 2 weeks at the hospital and mentioned the word cancer - all of which caused me great concern and anxiety. Then, when the hospital downgraded me for a year wait, the attention from the surgery was sorely lacking. It was like I'd been forgotten, cast aside, treated as nothing important. Subsequently, I have made an appointment to go private. Very disappointed with this recent experience from the surgery.

  4. Review titled Baffled why no appointments

Rated 1 star out of 5

by Anonymous - Posted on 14 August 2024

I rang at 8.15 this morning for a condition which is serious and debilitating but not urgent. Just trying to get a routine appointment with any doctor. Despite ringing as soon as the lines opened and being 19 in the queue, I was told no appointments available. Try again later in the week or ring 111. 111 were very good, said I need to see a doctor and told me my surgery would ring me. They did ring and told me no appointments. So, no option but to go to A&e.

  6. Review titled No routine appointments

Rated 1 star out of 5

I have to book an appointment as my GP said she wanted to see me in 3 months. It is difficult to phone at 8.15 as I'm driving to work and when I phone after 8.30 all appointments have gone. So today, I have a day off work and phoned at 8.15. I was 19 in the queue so expected to get an appointment. However, I was told that only urgent appointments are now available. Not sure what to do next, all the receptionist could say was keep trying but I've been trying for 10 days.

  7. Review titled There should be other ways of getting an appointment

Rated 2 stars out of 5

by Anonymous - Posted on 07 June 2024

I've been trying unsuccessfully for over a week to get an appointment. I brought this up with friends today and they were amazed at the way that the practice operates a who can dial quickest system to get an appointment (or not). Friends tell me that their various practices operate a system where the patient submits an online form detailing why they require an appointment. These are then triaged and the patient offered an appointment based on the severity of their condition. Surely, when appointments are very limited, this system of assessing protity is much better than Long Stratton's policy of giving appointments to those who can dial fastest.

Dear Patient Thank you for your feedback. Unfortunately, as with any anonymous post, it is very difficult to offer a reason why this situation has occurred. If a consultant has said that you can go back to see him, this is usually achieved by contacting his secretary. However, please allow us the opportunity to look into this further, as this might help other patients too. You can do this by contacting our surgery via email at lsmp.d82037@nhs.net. Or by telephone us on 01508 530781 and asking to speak to the Practice Manager. Thank you, and we look forward to hearing from you.

  9. Review titled No appointments and poor advice

Rated 2 stars out of 5

by Elderly lady - Posted on 05 June 2024

I have painful arthritis, so bad I cannot sleep. For 3 days trying to get an appointment but told nothing available for next 2 weeks and I can't have one beyond this. I asked the receptionist what I could do and she told me to go to the pharmacy in Long Stratton. I did this and they told me that suitable medication requires a doctors prescription. What do I do, I'm struggling with the pain.

  10. Review titled Treat you like a child & don't listen.

Rated 3 stars out of 5

by Anonymous - Posted on 19 March 2024

Had to cancel a couple of blood test appointments because I've been unfit to attend, explanation given to receptionist. The result of this is my life dependant repeat prescription has been cut to 7 days supply adding unwarranted extra stress & additional cost to the NHS of shipping small amounts. This is appalling manipulation & amounts to having my legs smacked for being unwell. This may work for some, but has the opposite effect on me & does little to ease the pressure on my wife in all this.

Thank you for your feedback. Unfortunately it is very difficult to comment on an anonymous post. Some medications we prescribe require you to have regular blood tests to make sure they are not causing harm. If a patient does not attend for their monitoring we can refuse to issue the medicines if we do not have these results, to ensure you are safe. However, in most cases the decision is to reduce the issue to weekly until the test has been done. We do record all of our phone calls, so if you have made a receptionist aware that you have been unfit to attend, then we do need to investigate this, so please allow us the opportunity by contacting our surgery. If you would prefer to email us please send this through to lsmp.d82037@nhs.net. Thank you.
