I get an appointment at the surgery as required and I have always found all the staff there very helpful and considerate, even though they are very busy.

I was told by the person on General Enquiries that a full blood test was not necessary despite the fact that I have had these for the past 4 years and the NHS website states “blood tests can offer a good snap shot of your health, a good way to catch illness or disease early and to see how well your body responses to treatment and various conditions”.I now have to wait for a telephone appointment with a Doctor to obtain a full blood test, this at a time when the NHS is experiencing staff shortages and industrial action, it all seems so unnecessary and bureaucratic. Is prevention over cure no longer a value within the NHS?

Dear Mr Rudman, Unfortunately blood test requests that fall outside of annual reviews have to be authorised by the clinicians as there has to be a clinical indication for the request. I have asked the Reception Manager to contact you.

I urgently needed a specific drug at high dose to adjust Thyroid level, which had suddenly sky-rocketed. Once I explained the urgency the reception staff, the duty doctor and others all pushed for a quick solution and it happened.

Thank you to a wonderful nurse whose professional approach combined with kindness and sensitivity made a procedure the best in years. Also thank you to the receptionist who passed on the extra information I gave her when I made the appointment. I really appreciated that team work.

I have had to be in contact with the surgery over the last month. The receptionists and the Doctors have been great and very helpful. I had to make 2 calls this week and on both occasions the receptionists went above and beyond to help me and to get the resolution I needed. They were ( including doctors) very kind caring and helpful and this meant I was not overly stressed and felt they were extremely kind.

I went into the surgery to pick something up and witnessed a patient shouting at staff and becoming quite angry after they were late for their appointment. The Staff handled it really well and were calm and helpful to the patient I was so impressed

Ive been fortunate to be a patient for many years. I have a number of chronic conditions and the receptionists and doctors have been brilliantly supportive with me keeping an eye on my blood tests and alertting me and consultants when something is not right and acting promptly to give advice or meds if theres a problem . Theyve saved my life literally spotting a silent heart attack that i thought waa back ache and changing drugs that affected my kidneys. I'm very grateful indeed a great team .
