  1. Review titled Totally Incompetent staff and lazy doctors

Rated 1 star out of 5

by Anonymous - Posted on 09 October 2024

Despite spending 15 mins extra to ensure the receptionist submitted my Repeat prescription on 2.10, nothing received at my pharmacy 5 days later. I had to call twice spending 55 mins each time to get it sorted. So after the 2nd attempt I was asdured all done ican pick it up. They then resend the link to fill the form again despite having completed it a week ago! It then took 55 mins to sort it at 3rd attempt. If they have new staff that is not my problem. This has happened on my previous requests for the same item. It is complete incompetency at doctors and front office levels. Perhaps they should stop chatting nonsense at their back offices and actually do some productive work. It's almost as if they want to cause inconvenience to prove that the system is failing. This used to be a well run surgery years ago but now it is totally rubbish. There is such a lack of communication. They are very quick to threaten one to strike your name off their registry instead of looking at what they do wrong. It is never their fault. The doctors are not thorough in their assessment snd do not explain anything. They are very quick to hand a prescription but they are lacking in explanation. Are they really qualified GPs!

  2. Review titled Klinik bookings & Appointments

Rated 3 stars out of 5

by Anonymous - Posted on 13 September 2024

I used the Klinik website to try and get an appointment. Filling out the form took the best part of 35 minutes. Ticking all the boxes, then being told you can only tick 20. Unticking boxes to make sure you can continue with the service. Then had to provide information about each symptom I ticked, which took most of the time. I got a call later that day with an appointment time which was fantastic. Got to the appointment and the Dr asked "what can I help you with?" What is the point of filling all of that information if the doctor doesn't read it before the appointment? I just don't understand it. Overall the receptionists are always very helpful when speaking on the phone and I feel the service has improved from previous experiences. Would it not be beneficial to have the doctors take the blood for blood tests there and then, instead of having to book an appointment with another clinic to take blood for tests? This is just delaying the whole process of getting a diagnosis and I feel this is one of the reasons why the NHS is struggling. The services provided at the surgeries should be more efficient and client focused.

  3. Review titled misinformation

Rated 1 star out of 5

by ugur ozgur - Posted on 04 June 2024

I've called 111 for chest pain and caugh and they send the report to my GP and told me to call them. I've called the GP and after 45 min wait on the phone i got through to receiption. They were able to identify the 111 report and informed me that i will receive a call from them once the doctor completes the 111 report assesment. They never called so I did go to the GP and asked the reception. She was polite but said I have been misinformed and i have to make an appointment to see a doctor. She was able to find the 111 report as well but said that it simply is nothing. I've asked why they didn't tell me to book the appointment when I called the day before. She apoligized for the misinformation but said that there is nothing she can do. They simply try to avoid patience by any means or delay the appointment if they can. I have not used any GP service for couple years and just remembered why.

  4. Review titled Good Efficient Staff and Great Doctors

Rated 5 stars out of 5

by paul christopher Cooper - Posted on 18 June 2024

After many years of being a patient i have recently needed to book appointments for my health issues the last 6-8 weeks. I have always been seen within acceptable time scale and got appointments for Doctors and Nurse without a problem. The treatment i have received has been very professional and the follow up appointments to attend hospitals and clinics for further tests etc has been made whilst there and i cannot fault their dedication to enable me to treat my Health Symptoms. When i have read some reviews about this Surgery which i feel has been unfair , when people seem to forget that their are many people unwell and with medical problems and sometimes unable to get same day appointments but i have no problem waiting a few days. The Website appointment system makes this much easier and for people who have no Online access it allows the Staff more time to attend to those persons needs. Many people like to complain and moan about things and i would like to balance the reviews with Positive remarks. Thank you

Worst GP ever in all of UK. I had lot of bad experiences with them. 01} they been cancelling my Physo appointment for last 1 month now. 02} They messed up the x-ray referral form for my wife when she was in really bad back pain and they took over 24hrs just to correct it. please avoid this GP especially if you have a baby and old people

  6. Review titled Great practice

Rated 5 stars out of 5

by Oldmanwrs - Posted on 24 August 2023

I have been to the surgery twice this week and I am very happy to say the receptionists were really very good (as usual!). I left this morning with an appointment with a doctor later in the day. I have not seen her before but the doctor gave me the best appointment I have had for a very long time. I will be hoping to get my next appointment with her again as I came away feeling very hopeful that I had made very good progress with regard to my medical problems, especially my hernia, thanks to her care and attention.

  7. Review titled Very empathetic practice

Rated 5 stars out of 5

by Mary Chapman - Posted on 26 June 2023

The staff at Maylands are very helpful and empathetic and I feel they genuinely care for their patients. GPs have time to listen to patients concerns and I never feel I am rushed . They all work exceptionally hard under quite difficult and sensitive conditions. My own GP has personally helped me get my life back . A great practice

It was just impossible to make an appointment today You wait for ages on the phone (3 separate attempts) and then no appointments available Also I was not able to fully understand the person on the phone at the surgery because of a accent

  9. Review titled Non functional.

Rated 1 star out of 5

by Alex Wade - Posted on 20 June 2023

Prior to the Covid 19 pandemic this was a decent GP practice. Since then it has become non functional because it’s simply impossible to make an appointment. I damaged my achilles tendon where it joins to my heel six weeks ago. It’s agony and I can’t bear to walk more than a short distance. The receptionist at Maylands, who has, I suspect, zero medical training, ‘screened me out’ and told me that my GP wouldn’t see me for that condition. They told me to go to an NHS Urgent Treatment Centre. I did this, and after waiting three hours I saw a Doctor there. He examined me and confirmed my injury, but said that this was totally a condition that my GP should deal with and never something for an Urgent Treatment Centre. An ongoing chronic condition rather than an emergency care issue. He said that I need to be referred to a Podiatrist, but that my GP must do that. Back to square 1! It’s impossible to make an appointment at Maylands. They’re so unhelpful that they as well not be there.

  10. Review titled Worrying Developments

Rated 2 stars out of 5

by Anonymous - Posted on 01 June 2023

I phoned at 8am to book an apt and was answered at 8.04am. I was offered an apt at 9.30, but unfortunately was not a time I was able to make. I asked why all apts had gone in 4 mins and was told only 2 doctors on duty and all had been pre-booked. I asked if I could pre-book and was informed none were available. I then asked whether I would be able to get an apt tomorrow if I phoned and was told unlikely as only 1 doctor on duty! However, if I came down to the surgery at 8am I could book one then. Why are people coming down to the surgery able to book while those who phone (as per website guidelines for making an apt) can’t. This is a very large group practice and it is extremely concerning that only 1 or 2 doctors are only duty.

Dear Patient I apologise that the appointment you were offered was not suitable. Unfortunately, appointments get booked up quickly either via the appointment line, patients coming in to the practice or by booking electronically on the website. I think there may have been a miscommunication, we have an on call emergency doctor daily and 2 advanced nurse practitioners to deal with on the day emergencies, the other clinicians in the practice would have been booked in advance and therefore, not available to book into them on the day. If you wish to discuss this further, please contact the practice on 01708 460180 and ask to speak to Ruth. Kind regards Ruth (Practice Manager)
