  2. Review titled Appointments

I have been waiting on phone for over an hour to get through to surgery (despite calling at 8am) and for second day running eConsult is not accepting consultations either. This is increasingly the experience when you try to book an appt and it is becoming almost impossible to speak to anyone. This is worrying when you are the carer of an elderly relative.

  3. Review titled Bad experience

Rated 1 star out of 5

Called the surgery and after three attempts totalling almost three hours was informed that had to call back following morning to get a home visit for 91 year old mother in law who is frail and housebound- or call 111, just wanted to get her reviewed due to pain and mobility issues. Called following day only to find automated recording saying closed for training- beggars belief that an elderly woman cannot get a doctor to visit at home or arrange a nurse to do a blood test for her - she’s petrified of falling and ending up in hospital which would likely cause all sorts of issues given the state of things at the moment. Don’t really know what the best thing to do is as I also work for nhs and cannot spend all morning on the phone when I’m working!! Wouldn’t mind but the receptionist went away to ask someone what to do but never informed me that they were closed following day and commented that she had, herself, had to wait 6 weeks for an appointment at her doctors - at least her surgery will give out appointments for future whereas this one is for on the day only. I even tried e-consult for previous week for husband and that wasn’t accepted on the day as it wasn’t at 8 am!!! He ended up in a&e for 10 hours a simple ear infection as No hub appointment available!! This would only have taken 5 mins with a gp .

  4. Review titled Appalling Administration System

Rated 1 star out of 5

by Albert frederick Gillham Snr. - Posted on 25 January 2023

On many occaisions I have tried to get an appointment for either my wife who is 74 or myself who is 76 to no avail. On the phone at 08.00hrs when quite often for an hour, then either cut off before getting answerd or being told that all appointments have gone ! Informed to line up outside surgery for doors to open at 08.00hrs next day if I want to guarantee an appointment, which I did on two occaisions getting there at 07.00hrs age 76 in the freezing cold. Once having made an appointment the service by the Doctors is excellent. On Friday 6th January 2023 I put in a request for medical information for my wife for a Blue Badge application and was told would take a week and half. I still have not received it and it is 25th. I have rang all times of the day to see if ready, each time on phone for nearly an hour, only to be told it was not done. Went to surgery today and again told not ready, as it was with the Doctor and may be ready next week! I am continually told on the phone that this is all due to "The Current Situation" may I ask what is the current situation ? This used to be an excellent health center until the pandemic but unfortunately since then it has become a shambles. I dispare for those elderly folk who have no one to care for them and wonder how they cope when they have no one to defend them . I suppose they have to stand out in the freezing cold to hopefully get an appointment. As I have previously stated I have no complaints at all with the service, dedication and attention the Doctors supply but Maylands Administration problems most definitely needs to be addressed urgently.

Dear Mr Gillham I am sorry to hear that you had a bad experience with the administrative staff. Unfortunately, you was given the wrong information and this additional work can take up to 4 weeks for a GP to process. Staff training takes place regularly and this will be addressed. Please call the surgery if you wish to discuss this further. Kind regards Ruth

  5. Review titled I have no idea what is going on

by freakingnightmare - Posted on 02 February 2023

Everything is really annoying me right now. I'm deaf and I can't make an appointment on the NHS app, it said that I do not have any permission from the GP Surgery and they said they don't have any record of me. Staff at the surgery and I had quite a disagreement, I told them that I'm deaf and I can't talk on the phone, they didn't seem to care and suggested that I should get someone else to phone. I have no idea what is going on but I'm defo changing the GP, I feel like the doctors are useless and they kept saying the same thing (No Offence) they don't check on me, I told them that I had allergic reactions, and they didn't even bother to check it and they just let me go just like that.

  6. Review titled Great practice

Rated 5 stars out of 5

Once your appointment is scheduled, the doctor and nursing team is very efficient at Maryland’s. I fell poorly in November and the service since then has been impeccable. My doctor has gone above and beyond to help me and I am extremely grateful. Our doctors and nurses are working under extreme pressure and many constraints, but despite this, they have remained dedicated. Thank you.

I have now been waiting on the phone for over 1 hour trying to get through to get an appointment. Surely there can’t be that many people in front of me? How are you supposed to get an appointment? This is also my 2nd day trying for one, probably quicker to just go to A&E as that’s where we will all end up the way this practice is going!
