Review titled Always administration problems
by Anonymous - Posted on 13 January 2025
This is the latest of many errors or inappropriate treatment of me by administerial staff i.e. mostly receptionists. Yesterday, I went online to order a repeat prescription in the usual manner but this time my prescription medications were not listed as 'approved'. I only had 2 of 6 'approved' yet I was still unable to order a repeat prescription of these medicines one of which is very important and must not be stopped suddenly (and I have just 4 days worth left). I was not contacted about this change and there was no explanation on the NHS website e.g. in a message in my inbox. I responded by attempting to find an explanation using the website's help and advice links and managed to leave a message asking what I am to do. The reply I received was to follow the link to give feedback here which is hardly going to help matters. I need my medication first and foremost! I can only presume that I must telephone the practice but I do not relish that prospect because of the long delays and general unhelpfulness of the receptionists who seem to function like robots working to a flowchart. The intention behind this is quick and efficient handling of patients but the moment any patient has the least requirement for human reasoning, and maybe a little understanding and compassion, and reassurance, the system breaks down with the receptionist reacting as if the patient is being deliberately difficult and/or demanding something unreasonable or impossible i.e. if it isn't on the flowchart, it can't be done - no matter how urgent the matter may be. It seems as if only a literal matter of life or death could prompt one of them to lift a telephone to speak to an actual doctor. They would rather tell the patient to go away and call 111 or 999 rather than that.

I needed help with my prescription and with my online access the receptionist was very helpful and sorted out both of my issues. When ever I go into the surgery I always find the receptionist helpful and pleasant

I telephoned for an emergency appointment at 8:00am and spoke to a doctor before 9:00am. The doctor was caring and helpful. I was very impressed by the efficient service and professional support.

Review titled Farcical appointment booking process
Rated 1 star out of 5
by Nick Grundy - Posted on 19 August 2024
I rang several days ago to book an advanced appointment only to be told that I would have to ring at 8am the next day. But not at 8am because that is when the emergency appointments are supposed to ring. So a bit after 8am you have to ring up and get in a queue. So I've rung for the last 2 days at around 8:15 got in a queue and eventually I'm told all appointments are gone. They can't tell you how many advanced appointments are available each day. So it's a complete lottery if you will ever get one. An utter farce, although maybe I will take this approach to people in my job who want to talk to me.

Review titled Excellent service from reception to GP
Rated 5 stars out of 5
by Michelle Thomson - Posted on 30 May 2024
I spoke to the receptionist at the surgery at 8.20 amThursday 30th May, by 8.35 a dr had called me for a phone consultation, and proceeded to offer me an appointment at 9.30! My appointment was very thorough, resulting in further tests required. Excellent service from the practice.

Review titled Can't fault them on my very recent visit
Rated 5 stars out of 5
by Barry Smithson - Posted on 05 November 2023
I am suffering with a chest infection, very chesty and really struggling with sleep & lying down. Within an hour of talking to reception, I had spoken to a GP and was in her surgery room being examined, you can't get better than that! I don't think I have ever received better medical attention anywhere, to be honest...

Review titled Awful service
Rated 1 star out of 5

I called to see if I could register at this GP. It says on this NHS website that they take on patients outside of their catchment area and I was unsure whether I would be classed as outside or within the catchment area so I called to check. (Due to affects on hospital referrals if I were to be taken on as a patients outside the catchment) A receptionist picked up the phone and I asked my questions and she asked where I live, I gave her my post code and she said “I don’t know post codes, where do you live” pretty rudely and cutting me off. I said the meadows and before I could finish speaking, she said they don’t take patients from the meadows. I told her that the NHS website says they take people from outside their catchment area and she said it’s not up to the “online people” it’s up to her. I told her they should update the NHS website then.. I live very close to this practice, and I am surprised I would not be in the catchment area. I believe as the meadows is a rougher area than west bridgeford she may have been taking her own liberty here but I don’t know because she didn’t tell me the catchment area! It says all calls are recorded - if you work at the practice and are reading this I’d recommend listening to the call I made 30 June 2023 at 16:04. I think your receptionist needs some upskilling on social abilities. If I’m not in the catchment - fine, but your receptionist shouldn’t speak down to people. Stay away from attempting to join this GP!
