  1. Review titled Great service

Rated 5 stars out of 5

by Anonymous - Posted on 30 November 2022

I have been very fortunate to be able to get an appointment with a dietician and it completely changed my life. I though I knew about nutrition, triggers, fasting etc, but the talk we had went deeper than calories counting and learned so much! I am glad NHS is offering this type of service and educates rather than treat. Thank you for everything.

  2. Review titled Difficulty in communication with a GP

Rated 2 stars out of 5

by Michael Moorey - Posted on 25 November 2022

At times, since Covid, it seems as if the practice is protecting itself from the public, putting up barriers to their writing or speaking to a GP. Other reviews have mentioned the problems patients routinely encounter, e.g. its taking three phone-calls and repeated explanations to get through to a GP; the totally inflexible Anima system, which only allows an enquiry on the days the assigned GP is working (whereas e-consult gave daily access). To these I would add the apparent reluctance of GPs to undertake face-to-face consultations. Remote diagnosis over the phone is surely not a safe method of treating illness. After much frustration, I finally found a member of the Patient Co-Ordination team who was prepared to ensure emails containing important information for a GP actually reached them. The person had better remain nameless for fear of overwhelming him or her with messages from other disgruntled or desperate patients. In conclusion, the decision of the practice to put its patients through hoops by only giving out appointments daily is clearly not effective and should be reconsidered. Most businesses run on at least a weekly diary. A straw poll among local residents indicates that NSP is becoming, if not already, a byword for inefficiency and unfriendly to patients. A poor reputation is difficult to alter.

Dear Mr Moorey, thank you for your feedback. My name is Gail Wells and I am the IT Lead for Newbury Street Practice. I am sorry you have had to contact us this way however we are glad you have given us this opportunity to respond. We are continually developing the service we are able to offer and are pleased to confirm that from this week we are able to offer some limited face to face pre bookable appts with a GP. We hope this will go some way to helping patients to manage appointments. We understand the frustrations that our patients continue to have when trying to access healthcare appointments. We are constantly reviewing and developing our service, Gail Wells, IT Lead, Newbury Street Practice

  4. Review titled Great Listening Skills and Professionalism

Rated 5 stars out of 5

by Andrew Yates - Posted on 27 October 2022

My Dr listened and evaluated my symptoms over a number of weeks and prescribed effective solutions for me to try. I really admire her patience in these difficult times when demands on the local health service is incredibly high. I have read some poor reviews about the practice recently and so wanted to express my thanks to the team there and highlight that not all feedback is negative.

  5. Review titled do not go here! rude staff

Rated 1 star out of 5

by Iesha Bryan - Posted on 17 October 2022

Ever since i’ve registered with this GP since moving to the area, it’s nothing but grief! Every time i’m questioned by receptionist weather really need an appointment, not that I will get a face to face one! the reception staff are always rude and very unfriendly. Always a que to get an appointment, then when you get through there’s none left or they state it’s not an emergency. spoke to them today stating my asthma is bad, was told this is not an emergency, stated can you not hear how wheezy I am!!! explained i already put a repeat prescription in which still has not been sorted out!! there useless, rude unprofessional bunch of staff members. would not recommend using this GP! As a result will have to go to A&E waste my time and hospitals time due to my GP not getting my repeat prescription done, and stating breathing was not an emergency. absolute sh*t show. Every single time it’s a battle with the reception staff; they send many letters and text asking you to arrange appointments, but then can never get through to do so. and when you do get through the undelightful staff members your quizzed by are in not empathetic have no sympathy for clients.

  6. Review titled Not Fit for Purpose

Rated 1 star out of 5

by Anonymous - Posted on 30 September 2022

What a waste of time this Surgery is now! Barely functions as a GP Practice anymore. Phoned today for an appointment' only to be told that you can only book an appointment on the day and can't book future appointments, and you can only book on the day if the GP is actually in surgery which is not that often.

  7. Review titled Can it get any worse ?

Rated 1 star out of 5

by Anonymous - Posted on 28 September 2022

A GP practice where you can't get a consultation - not even an online or telephone consultation. Wonder why they exist! Won't allow making advance bookings even if you call the practice. Even if you try to call them at 8.30 in the morning, there is already a long queue apparently and they call back, if you are lucky, in the afternoon and bookings are taken only for the same day. How is someone working full-time get an appointment? I tried booking an appointment via Anima but it says it is down for maintenance ...and I can't put in any request because the assigned GP is away and I can't even do an admin request because the GP is away... On the page, they advise to use Patient Access but the GP appointment booking option is not available there. Face-to-face appointments have become an impossibility post-covid but is a phone consultation too much of an ask too???

  8. Review titled This practice is a joke

Rated 1 star out of 5

by Anonymous - Posted on 21 July 2022

Had an appointment booked for 5 weeks, text message last week saying it had been cancelled, booked another appointment to turn up after taken time of work to be told that it had been cancelled again. There was only two people in the waiting room. Receptionist said they had text me that morning which they had not. Why is it so difficult to pick up the phone to speak to somebody. Make sure your patient gets the message it takes no longer.

We are sorry you experienced so many problems. If you could contact me privately on my nhs email I can look into it for you. We did have people off sick last week unfortunately. Please email myself with details of your appointment that was cancelled and the date and I will look into what happened for you. My email is gail.wells@nhs.net. I apologise you felt so let down by us. It is not the impression anyone wants you to take away and certainly not the one we wish to give to patients. Gail Wells, IT Lead, Newbury Street Practice
