Had a fantastic consultation with a physio who gave me a steroid injection and detailed rehab advice. Best physio appointment I’ve ever had - superb knowledge and very professional

I needed to see nurse for ECG Doctor for consultation in review of said ECG and blood test. My Theophylline results were of concern. I was supported from beginning to end of appointments with kindness and consideration. I felt in Extremely safe hands by all staff involved.

I was seen by an outstanding senior nurse who took his time to reassure and answer any questions. A genuine and caring service from somebody who clearly cares about his job. Thank you.

  4. Review titled Rude Receptionist

Rated 2 stars out of 5

by Anonymous - Posted on 15 May 2024

I have just tried to call to make an appointment to see a doctor, but was told there are no appointments available for the next 3-4 weeks. I politely asked when I would be able to book an appointment and got a very unhelpful and curt reply back. There was rude undertone to the man's voice that has left me very upset. It's consistently difficult to get an appointment at this surgery.

My GP was friendly, helpful and professional. We were able to discuss my situation frankly and she was very supportive. I’m very happy with my consultation today. Full marks.

  6. Review titled Poor Patient Service

Rated 1 star out of 5

My mum has been trying for 18 days now to get an appointment but to no avail. She has been nauseous, diarrhoea, sick and the more she explains this to the receptionist the more they ask her what is wrong. Now if my mum was a Dr the would’ve been no need to see a Dr. This is bad service and in my life have I never seen anything so bad. Looks like Private health care is the way to go but then you need a referral from a Dr and by the Looks of it at Newton Place Surgery you will never get an appointment!

I have tried to book on phone an appointment for 4 days only to be told there aren’t any I went to the surgery to be told there was only 1 in April a month away on the 9th . If the surgery is short staff why isn’t there a loco called in , I know the nhs is in shreds but to sit on a phone for 10 minutes or so then to be told none or even cut off while on it .its not good , up to now I have had no complaints but since covid it seems to me everyone is on go slow . I really hope things will in prove, meanwhile it doesn’t help my foot which keeps swelling up and my sleepless nights having carpal tunnel which is extremely painful .

  8. Review titled speedy service

Rated 4 stars out of 5

On getting through to the receptionist, she made an appointment for me the same afternoon to see my own named doctor. That doctor went over and above the requirements to refer me quickly online. I was pleased to meet her and see her efficient and caring nature and how much she enjoyed her job in spite of the obvious difficulties these days. The teams need everybody's support in these difficult times that are not caused by themselves.

  9. Review titled So helpful and efficient

Rated 5 stars out of 5

by Kim - Posted on 21 December 2023

I always receive a phone call on the same day when I use the eConsult as I did on this occasion. The GP referred me straightaway for the treatment I required and I was then contacted by the surgery the next day as they had a cancellation. All the staff I encountered were excellent and I really feel they should be commended.

  10. Review titled Help for my Mother

Rated 4 stars out of 5

by Anonymous - Posted on 04 December 2023

My mum has been a patient at Newton Road for many years and she has had amazing care. Sadly, in the the last few years my sisters and I have found that there is no joined up thinking or holistic approach to the care my mum receives. She is 87 and suffers from chronic pain from arthritis, as well as other ailments that she receives medication for. She manages the pain with patches and this was fine until they decided to change the patch. This is because they are worried about her liver and kidneys. They have now changed her blood pressure pills too. She now doesn't sleep and as she says, Im 87, I just want to be out of pain. From being a very gregarious independent lady, it seems she has lost the will and can't be bothered with anything. This is ridiculous. Why can they not leave things when they are working, or if they are worried look at the patient as a whole and how the changes will affect her. She has complete capacity, but they are not listening to her. I have now stepped in to try and advocate for her, but it is obviously very difficult to get an appointment and you cannot talk to anyone. There isn't even an email that you can contact the surgery with to express your concerns. Hence me writing on this. I would very much like to talk to someone that could possibly help me get to the bottom of this. My fear is that my mother will be so tired she will fall and end up in hospital. My mother would in all likelihood not come out and this would cost the NHS a lot more in the long run!
