  1. Review titled Praise where praise is due

Rated 5 stars out of 5

by Jacqui Darlington - Posted on 19 August 2024

Surgeries Feedback Are Not Always Bleak Suffering from dizzy spells and a very high blood pressure I was seen within minutes of making a call to the surgery. The Senior Nurse Practitioner listened carefully to what I was saying about what was happening to me and how I was feeling, then she took my blood pressure which took several attempts. I was asked to see the Duty Doctor who diagnosed me with an infection which was affecting my balance and giving me vertigo. I was given medication to take and was promised a follow up call which I got 2 days later. Within 24 hours I could feel the difference and I received my follow up call within 48 hours of visiting the surgery and taking the medication. I’m typing this five days into the treatment to let you know that the news around surgeries are not always bleak. This one is a happy one. Thank you to the receptionists, the Senior Nurse Practitioner and the Doctor at Oakham Medical Practice and thank you to Family and friends who helped me to get to the surgery and back home.

  3. Review titled Best Practice by far

Rated 5 stars out of 5

by Paul Cunningham - Posted on 30 July 2024

Once again the practice have provided an excemplary service. Last week i had concerns about Chest Pains. The Reception Staff acted swiftly and guided me on what i should do. The service was second to none and mirrors all my previous interactions. Starting with the excellent and friendly reception staff through to the Medical Staff and Pharmacist. All of which are doing an amazing job under huge pressures. Every contact I have with them has been friendly and professional and they always listen. An amazing practice with exceptional Staff.

  5. Review titled The environment did little to hide the grim reality

Rated 1 star out of 5

by Martin Brookes - Posted on 30 May 2024

Lots of justified moans and groans being voiced in the waiting area. Yet, a beacon of sunshine emerged in the form of the clinician I met this morning. Their smile, bright and genuine, was a stark contrast to the reception and waiting experience. It held a warmth that instantly disarmed my apprehension and replaced it with a sense of comfort. Her sunny disposition transformed the experience from a dreaded chore into an almost pleasant interaction.

  6. Review titled Terrible Practice with Rude Staff.

Rated 1 star out of 5

This is one of the worst experiences in a doctors surgery’s I have ever had. I came in to see the Doctor about a long term issue, they ignored what I said, misdiagnosed me and then messed up my referral. When I asked how long the referral would take to be made, he told me to speak to the reception staff who were Incredibly rude and said it would take as long as it took and it didn’t have anything to do with her.

I begged for an appointment they offered a physicians associate. I was desperate and saw the associate he prescribed medication. 3 visits to Lyndon Health Care and 2 visits to pharmacy nothing was sent over. Receptionist was rude didn’t offer but say just wait this has been ongoing for over 2 hours and I am in Pain

  8. Review titled Impossible to see a GP or even get an urgent call back

Rated 1 star out of 5

by Anonymous - Posted on 28 March 2024

I was suffering severe pain in my right leg and was unable to walk around the house properly. I rang 111 and was advised to see a GP. I rang the GP's surgery to be told I could only have a call back from the GP and that could be any time. I was in extreme pain and needed to see someone. I rang 111 again who said I should be contacted within 2hrs by the surgery. Rang the surgery again to be told no time could be given for the call back. During that conversation I was told the doctor was then just about to call me. I was prescribed painkillers. I took these but they had no effect, I was still in agony. My daughter took me to Corby Urgent Care Unit where they said they couldn't prescribe anything stronger I had to see a GP but they agreed I did need something stronger. After more phone calls to 111 then the surgery the next day I eventually got another call back from a doctor who prescribed the stronger painkillers. I had pleaded with the receptionist to make me an appointment but she would only arrange the call back and said the doctor would call me in then if he thought it was needed. I am not young, I live on my own, I was in so much pain that I couldn't function properly but no one at the surgery seemed to care. I rang the surgery again today as I was having adverse side effects to the drug I was given to check if it was ok to keep taking them. She didn't even ask my name, just told me to speak to a pharmacist, there were no more call backs today. The surgery is now closed for 4 days over Easter. Why is it so impossible to actually see a doctor? I am fortunate enough not to have needed a GP for many years but I am horrified at how the system has changed.

Rated 5 stars out of 5

by Katie - Posted on 27 March 2024

I have been to the surgery today for a doctors appointment for my daughter & both receptionists that I had the need to speak to were very helpful & friendly. Also the doctor we saw again was very helpful & I can honestly say that I couldn’t ask for more from them.

  10. Review titled Please review 'call back' procedure

Rated 2 stars out of 5

by Wendy Burgess - Posted on 11 March 2024

I tried to arrange an appointment for my son this morning. I was put on the call back list for the Dr and told a Dr would call me to review if he needed one. I was at work on calls so I was ignoring messages on my phone because I was just waiting for the phone call. I therefore missed a message saying an appointment had been booked for my son which also meant we missed the appointment. I called straight away and the receptionist told me I'd missed it and he needed to go to urgent care (but didn't have details on what was available - I'm still confused about whether we go to Corby or call 111). I also received a text from the Dr about him being well enough to be in school (I had mentioned to the receptionist that I'd need to get him from school so couldn't get there straight away). Please review your procedures to ensure that you tell people that an appointment may be made for them via text. If I'd been told that this morning, I would have been checking my messages as well as waiting for the phone call. This would have saved everyone time. I did mention this to the receptionist as feedback but this wasn't acknowledged (hence why I am writing here). I received a further message from the Dr about him being well enough to be in school and to take him to urgent care later if I was still concerned about him. This suggests I shouldn't have booked him an appointment today because he's in school but I don't know how else to get him a non-urgent, routine appointment? If there is a different process to follow, please let me know. If this is an option it wasn't explained to me. When I called this morning I just asked for an appointment for my child and explained his symptoms, I was offered the call back. I didn't insist it was today. Feel a little bit like I am now being told I was wasting time which was never my intention. I left positive feedback last week for my eldest child who was seen with a chest infection. That process was so efficient and different to what I have experienced today.
