  1. Review titled Great Call Centre Operstor

Rated 4 stars out of 5

by Janis Trehearn - Posted on 25 November 2024

Today, trying to get through to speak to an operator about changing an appointment, I should like to say what a wonderful service Sharon the operator I spoke gave me. She went above and beyond to help me even though it was a very challenging time as all the NHS lines in the country were experiencing issues with calls. She handled my call very professionally and rectified the problem I had and more so. Very rarely have I left a good review at this practice, but on this occasion I feel it is totally justified. Thank you Sharon.

  2. Review titled Disappointing.

Rated 1 star out of 5

My wife has been waiting 5 month for a lung function test. The appointment was due today (13/9). We have now been told that the appointment has been cancelled and another one is not available until 11th October. This used to be a great practice but since the new owners took over things have gone downhill rapidly. Also my B12 injection (which takes approximately 1minute) has been cancelled and no member is available for another 2 weeks.

  3. Review titled Blood Bookings gone awry

Rated 3 stars out of 5

by Peter AR - Posted on 06 September 2024

This is the third time I have been in for a blood test appointment, & been sent four reminders. That’s good. The following day I received another message - saying I need another blood test?? This creates a very poor impression of the surgery service, and it’s hard to defend it against criticism. I don’t know how this happens, but it’s very disconcerting and gives the impression that they just don’t know what’s going on. Rather disappointing…

  4. Review titled Poor Management Practice

Rated 1 star out of 5

by Kevin Start - Posted on 25 November 2024

After see a Doctor in early September and given a referral for scan & knee clinic, I had to continually chase the surgery for updates, after waiting 6 weeks I found out from Eastbourne District Hospital imaging depart that this had been rejected 6 weeks ago and fed back to the surgery. On chasing surgery staff I was informed that I was still on the waiting list. It seemed that no one new what they were doing and the doctor had not even followed correct procedures. After then seeing a physio a referral was returned to the surgery requesting an immediate x ray. A letter of great concerns over practice management was sent to surgery along with a request for x ray referral update and request for all personnel records to be added to nhs app. I received a text from practice manager to forward dates to receive a phone call. No call was received so concerns were raised via the nhs app messaging service to the surgery requesting full response in writing. It has now been 12 weeks since appointment with the doctor and 5 weeks since letter of concerns raised surgery management team. There has been no calls, no response to my two letters of communication, no information on x ray referral and no records added to nhs app. I believe at my time of life you need the backup of your local doctors, not to be just left hanging in the wind not knowing whether there anyone professional left out there. Due to the appalling behaviour by surgery team this leaves me no alternative but to raise with cqc.

  5. Review titled Practice intransigence

Rated 1 star out of 5

When I attempted to request an appointment with a female GP because as an ageing woman I was not comfortable discussing my health issues with the male doctor I saw previously at the practice. My request was met with full stonewalling from the practice whose policy is that patients cannot see any doctor except the one they saw on their first encounter with the practice. How is this putting patients first?

  6. Review titled Always Dreadful service and has gotten much worse

Rated 1 star out of 5

    by Janis T - Posted on 19 July 2024

On 15 July, my husband rang the surgery to ask for an appointment as I was very unwell. Once he explained the issues the call handler said it sounded like Sepsis and he should phone 999 straightaway, which he did. From there on, the rest of the day was a nightmare due to not being able to see a GP (which is the norm now). I ended up waiting 4 hours for an Ambulance and then 9 hours in A&E This is it is not occasionally, luckily I don’t need urgent appointments as I dread to think what it would be like. The waiting room is always empty, apart from the odd patient, usually about 3, who are there usually for blood tests. It would seem as though Nurses are always there but no Doctors. I am furious, and if there were great alternatives, I would leave.

  7. Review titled Great service!

Rated 5 stars out of 5

My wife and I moved to Seaford in December 2023 and shortly after we registered with The Old School Surgery, Seaford. The surgery were very quick in calling me for a routine blood test as well as a further test needed in connection with the prescription carried forward from my previous GP. In February 2024 I had no problem in getting a prompt appointment with a GP at the surgery who, after examining me, decided an operation was in order. Unfortunately the NHS hospital who would have dealt with the operation were apparently overloaded with patients requiring similar treatment as myself, with a very long waiting list. In fact the waiting list had been paused! The situation looked bleak! The Old School Surgery at Seaford, however, finally managed to get me into the Nuffield Hospital at Brighton, where I was able to see a consultant quite quickly. My operation took place there in May 2024. The hospital were excellent, and I am very happy with the result of the op. Thank you to all involved at the Old School Surgery for sorting things out for me so promptly. 5***** I would add that to date I have never had any problem when it comes to connecting on the phone to receptionists, who have always been polite and helpful. Organising repeat prescriptions on the NHS web site have so far also been successful.

  8. Review titled Wait Times

Rated 2 stars out of 5

    by Nick D - Posted on 26 January 2024

I live and work in Devon during the week and have to take time off to visit my GP. I had an appointment for today the 26/01/24 for 10:30. After an hour and a half wait in the Alfriston Surgery I had to leave to continue working from home. What makes it more frustrating I had to travel at my expense to a village 10 miles away when my local surgery is 2 minutes walk from home. Im now left with an undiagnosed until I can get another appointment. More time and expense for me. I find this wholly unacceptable and would not recommend this surgery to anyone.

  9. Review titled A Very Poor Practice

Rated 1 star out of 5

by Andy Anderson - Posted on 14 December 2023

We moved to this practice just over a year ago and found the services it provides outside if it’s required services under the GP Contract non existent. Delays in getting repeat prescriptions signed, errors in repeat prescriptions. It is impossible to get a GP appointment although when i attend the practice for Diabetic review there are very few patients in the waiting room and no sign of any interaction with GP’s. Where my wife and I have had clinically significant issues the practice has always directed us to a local Urgent Treatment Centre, Hospital AE services or on line consultation services. Today a telephone consultation was arranged with my GP to discuss an ECG that took place at the practice some weeks ago and to gain advice for my AF ongoing treatment. No phone call was received. Whilst I recognise service pressures on the NHS being a former provider of diagnostic services I find the service offered by this practice deplorable and non patient centred.

  10. Review titled Useless

Rated 1 star out of 5

I called to make appointment for mother who is 85,and extremely unwell due to a chest infection, And was told no appointments available for 3 weeks, I asked for a phone call appointment instead, I was told none available, explained that my mother was finding it hard to breath due to chest infection, reception women said, if I was that worried about her I should call 111 or go to lewes hospital ,and put the phone down, I went to lewes hospital and they informed me that they are always getting patients from this practice, and it is disgusting that they can not see a gp from there,Appalling service
