Review titled Improving I hope
Rated 5 stars out of 5
by Darren Murphy - Posted on 18 June 2024
18 june morning I phoned for an appointment the receptionist was amazing, I arrived at the the doctors the same receptionist recognised my name and was really friendly I seen the nurse who was amazing as always and the doctor who I seen after was thorough and professional. I came out and booked blood tests and the receptionist spoke to Jthe nurse and they did them then and there, I was extremely happy with service. I hope it stays that way because before certain members of staff ie receptionists were not very helpful or friendly appointments were impossible to get so please give all staff today a pat on the back and use these staff as examples of how to do it on others.

Review titled Amazing receptionist
Rated 5 stars out of 5
by Paul Gallimore - Posted on 18 June 2024
The visit to the GPS was made easy for me because of the excellent work by the receptionist. She was easy to talk to and made requesting anything easy and not have to worry about making me feel as if I was a burden. Thank you. Plus the amazing work that Dr always provides. I would be lost with her.

Review titled Didn’t have a good experience
Rated 2 stars out of 5
by Elizabeth upton - Posted on 20 June 2024
I had a chest infection, went to the claughton medical centre the first gp I had done all the checks and gave me antibiotics for the chest infection, after the course of antibiotics I still felt worse than I did before, having continuous hot flushes and struggling to breathe got an appointment on Monday 17th for a review, he didn’t do the correct checks which was needed and stated information to me that I was the same and my lung was still sounding bad and he proceeded to write false information on my medical records and sent me on my way, my condition got worse and I had to phone 111 were I was sent to arrow park walk in centre were a gp done the correct checks she needed and provided me with another round of antibiotics, my experience on Monday 17th has left me extremely appalled with how I was treated, if he done the correct checks and acted bothered about my condition worsening I wouldn’t of had to call 111 and I would of got given the round of antibiotics which would help me feel a lot better

Review titled Great Experience
Rated 5 stars out of 5

After being advised to attend for an ECG and a blood test by one of the doctor’s I was quite apprehensive. I can’t ever remember having either before. The nurse who I saw was both friendly, informative and professional and put me at my ease straight away.

Review titled 40 Years with PMG and still delighted with standard of care!
Rated 5 stars out of 5
by Patrick David Landsborough - Posted on 10 June 2024
An appointment last week was with a GP with a view to reviewing my various/several health issues. I was concerned, given the number of issues I was concerned over, that she might not have the time to tough base on all. Throughout the interview both myself, and my wife, were relaxed and felt reassured by the GP's patience, compassion and prompt action. In complimenting that particular GP, I do not wish to be seen as not recognising the comparable skills of the other members of the present GP team, nor those of earlier years, going back as far as the "triumvirate" in the formative years of the Group. After my appointment, I felt I had some direction over my issues and am very grateful for the referrals to other areas of the NHS, made on my behalf. Many, many thanks to all the wonderful team at the Paxton Medical Centre. Best Wishes, Pat Landsborough

Review titled Patronising & Unhelpful
Rated 1 star out of 5
by Anonymous - Posted on 20 April 2024
21 year old daughter had an appointment with one of the lead doctors at Claughton practice. The Dr was extremely patronising and condescending. She prescribed 2x inhalers, without even checking daughters chest / peak flow, or if asthma was the issue. Refused to give another prescription for iron tablets, ‘why should I give you them’ despite daughter being anaemic, instead blamed the problem on low blood pressure, even though she didn’t bother taking my daughters blood pressure, so obviously she just guessed. Really poor ‘bedside’ manner, daughter suffers with anxiety anyway and felt she was being belittled and patronised instead of being listened to. Really poor, do better.

Review titled Unfriendly and rude receptionist
Rated 3 stars out of 5
by Anonymous - Posted on 02 April 2024
Just had a disappointing experience today, this is my local GP and I love my doctor. She is so helpful and lovely and goes above and beyond. However, today I went in to get my repeat proscription set up and the reception was unhelpful, very unfriendly and extremely blunt. She had purple hair and was wearing a blue blouse, though I’m unsure of her name. In the past the receptionists have been nice, but she made me feel unwelcome and like a burden, just for asking for some help. She cut me off in multiple occasions before listening to what I had to say. I have ADHD and Autism, and this encounter upset and distressed me. Healthcare and medication is a sensitive and vulnerable thing and I think that any employee, or indeed any person, should try their best to be understanding, kind and listen to be able to help people effectively.

Review titled Don't take mental health seriously.
Rated 2 stars out of 5
by Anonymous - Posted on 14 June 2024
I came in to address ongoing low level depression, didn't feel like it was taken very seriously as I don't have the extreme sadness/ depression symptoms. Anyway put on low level meds, which made next to no difference. Came towards the end of the prescription period, no further contact from Paxton medical group, which I think is very dangerous for someone with depression, they should contact you to see how you are going and to look at extending/ increasing dose of your prescription where required. But nothing, if I was manically depressed would that have been good practice to not bother chasing up progress? As it is I feel more depressed as a result, and has just enforced my image that GPs don't really care. Not a good impression to give to someone who's already depressed. Basically unless you have something physically wrong with you don't bother about mental health issues, as they make out in the media everyone is doing more for mental health, but they're not, I still don't think it's taken seriously.
