  2. Review titled Appointments

Rated 1 star out of 5

by Anonymous - Posted on 08 November 2022

I've been trying to get an appointment for nearly three weeks. Told to phone in the past at 8am which I did today and was 16th in queue. Can't hang on that long while at work. Then phoned at 2.02pm today and message was clinical team has now reached it's safe working limit so no more appointments. I've given up. Wasting my time when I am working full-time. Absolutely appalling.

Dear Anon We are acutely aware that demand for NHS services is outstripping capacity. Every day we have over 2000 inbound calls to the surgery. We are desperately looking at our ability to offer more to our patients. Our new phone system does provide an improved queuing system and a more effective way of communicating to callers the status of appointments. However we do understand there are peak times where the level of calls coming in exceed the queue capacity and patients get the engaged tone. Unfortunately this is something we cannot control but we will continue to monitor. The ability to book routine GP appointments online become available from the 14th November 2022 via the ask First App. Please do download ask First if you have not got this already as many more options are becoming available on-line. We are hoping once we increase online access to our patients, pressure on the phone lines will ease. We do listen to your feedback and welcome suggestions on how we can improve access.

  3. Review titled Reception

Rated 4 stars out of 5

by Arthur Richards - Posted on 09 November 2022

When I phoned today, I requested a call back. The receptionist was excellent. The doctor I needed was not available she therefore arranged an appointment next Monday after discussing my problem. Thank you for your help. I feel better when I discuss the problem with a person and not over the computer. Please keep the service going.

  5. Review titled First Class Service

Rated 5 stars out of 5

    by Mrs D - Posted on 21 October 2022

Although I was unable to make an appt on the phone, I went through to 111 who triaged my call, they then advised me to call the surgery back and arrange appt. the receptionist kindly took the details and arranged appt with the paramedic who was brilliant! She took time to listen and to thoroughly examine me. She sorted out a prescription and arranged a follow up. Could not asked for a better service. Well done Poplar Grove.

  7. Review titled unable to get a doctor/ nurse appointment

Rated 1 star out of 5

by Jael Ramcharitar - Posted on 25 October 2022

I have been trying to get a GP appointment for a few weeks and unsuccessful. I keep phoning at 08:00 and when I do get through, I get a recording that says the practice has reached its quota for the day. I visited the pharmacy and have been advised that I need to see my GP. I got through to the GP at 1700 yesterday and was told I cannot see a GP as no appointments available and I need to keep trying every morning despite doing this for the last few weekd with no success. I dread to think the impact this is having on vulnerable patients and have a better understanding of why A&E is so overwhelmed. Process needs to change urgently please.

  8. Review titled Excellent care

Rated 4 stars out of 5

by Kerri - Posted on 18 October 2022

I was seen at the practice in august and then again in October regarding a persistent issue. I had dealings with three GP’s all of which were fantastic. They were all prompt, compassionate and informative. Considering the pressures on the NHS I was so impressed with the service I received. I was called back very quickly, seen that day and had a follow up phone call on the day agreed to discuss results. My experience was extremely professional and I’m so grateful.

  9. Review titled Hopeless

Rated 1 star out of 5

by Anonymous - Posted on 05 October 2022

Called for an appointment in the afternoon and told to call in the morning. Call in the morning, on hold for 30mins at number 30 in the queue which means either one patient was talking the whole time, or no one was answering the phone. After nearly an hour, the surgery had reached "their safe working limit". Called the following day at 08:00, by 08:10 the surgery "reached their safe working limit". Stayed on hold to speak to reception - received "we are not able to take your call right now, pls call back later" It is completely hopeless.
