A very pleasant experience. The surgery was empty and I was trrated very well. As I,d broken my hip it would have been nice to receive some " care" info. I ve received nothing from the main surgery.

  2. Review titled Shingles Vaccination

Rated 4 stars out of 5

    by Philip H - Posted on 25 September 2023

Last week, I turned up at the surgery at the arranged appointment time for my Shingles vaccination. I had already had a Shingles vaccination last year. The duty receptionist had no record of my appointment for a Shingles vaccination ........ instead she said that I was there for a Blood Test, despite me waving the dated Shingles vaccination request form in front of her. Now I had already had a Blood Test less than two weeks before and was curious to know what was going on. I was sent to see the Duty Nurse who confirmed that I had already had a Shingles jab but did not know when. She then did a Blood pressure test on me and then gave me a Flu Jab. I asked for a Covid jab as there has been heaps of advice lately telling people of my vintage that we need to get another Vaccination as there is a variation doing the rounds. I was no and to wait until I was given an appointment. In the last 5 weeks I have had separate appointments for a Lung scan, Retinopathy check, Blood Pressure check, Blood Test x 2 and a Shingles vaccination which did not happen. I still need a Covid Jab. OK, these appointments are important but can more of them not be combined to save time?

Thank you for your feedback. You are correct that it would have been far more efficient for some of these appointments to be combined. We will take these comments and board and make changes where we can.

  3. Review titled Your recent appointment Blood Test

Rated 5 stars out of 5

    by Marshall C - Posted on 11 September 2023

I was booked in for a Fasting Blood test at 0840 arrived at the Surgery ten minutes early and was seen precisely at the appointment time; which me being ex service (RN) to me is always a sign of good management. Had my blood test by a very efficient Nurse with no hassle whatsoever I would rate it as a 1st Class service

The process from arrival at the Surgery took less than 10 minutes. Very satisfied. BUT, I`ve been unable to make a face-to-face appointment with a Doctor for nearly 4 years!

Thank you for your feedback. We are offering more face to face appointments that we ever have however, the fact remains that often we do not have enough to cover all required.

  5. Review titled Your recent appointment...Blood test

Rated 5 stars out of 5

Attended the Crookhorn Surgery on Friday 15 September at 9.30 for a blood test but when asked if I had fasted I had totally forgotten but the nurse was absolutely lovely and told me not to worry so then offered to give me a Flu jab and cancelled the appointment I had for that and then rebooked me in for the blood test.....definitely a well deserved 5 star experience....especially when you know how much pressure the health service experiences on a daily basis.

I needed a blood test and had to option of having it at crookhorn surgery. Nice and quick and simple. I didn't have to wait for very long in waiting room. The nurse was cheerful and it didn’t take long as my veins must be good. What can I say .. well done crookhorn !

  7. Review titled My experience

Rated 5 stars out of 5

I have been 3 times to the nurse and I’ve not waited around at all which is great when you are popping out of your working day. The nurse was lovely and the service was the best I’ve received recently from a doctors surgery. Quick, efficient and happy service

  8. Review titled Blood test

Rated 4 stars out of 5

    by Stephen P - Posted on 04 August 2023

My appointment was done on time and in a very polite and professional manner. My only criticism is I had to wait over two weeks from the time of booking. This seems a very long time for something that take less than five minutes to do. You should be able to complete a lot of blood test in one day.

Thank you for your feedback. Where possible blood tests are usually completed much sooner, we have recently recruited some Phlebotomists and patients should notice an improvement in this area of appointments.

The doctor I saw was friendly and spent time explaining the need for the jabs I was having. There was a short wait but overall a very efficient service from initial text message reminding me to make an appointment to attending the surgery.

  10. Review titled Impossible to see someone

Rated 1 star out of 5

by Oliver - Posted on 10 July 2023

Infuriating to deal with. On the phones, if you select a routine appointment you just get told to phone back "later" and it hangs up If you want to speak to general enquiries, that's only open 2-4pm and just as difficult to get through on Tried setting up a profile with their online booking service twice without hearing back. Basically, unless you're having a medical emergency or nearing death, you've got absolutely no chance of being seen by someone. Some of the worst online and phone systems I've used despite so called "upgrades".

Thank you for your feedback. We are sorry that you have been unable to gain access when needed. We would advise that currently all areas of the health service have capacity issues and demand is often more than we can safely provide. Making a complaint will not lead to gaining an appointment outside the standard methods. Often by the time that an outcome of a complaint (20 working days) is provided, an appointment has already been gained, sometimes in less than 24 hours of the submission. We therefore would like to provide the below guidance: We are an appointment led service, therefore once we reach capacity you will be provided with appropriate signposting, this may include 111, local walk-in centre, pharmacy, or self-referral to community services. Acute/urgent on the day appointments are available from 8.00am on option 1, initially this will a short telephone triage from a clinician, an assessment will be made, and you may need to attend for a face-to-face consultation. For non-urgent, longstanding issues you should call at 10.00am on option 2. We release on-line appointments at 7pm each weekday evening eConsult is available from 6.30pm each weekday evening, however capacity is reached very quickly, and we receive an average of 300 per week. Please bear in mind this is an additional service which in most instances receives a digital response and should not be used to gain a face-to-face appointment.
