  1. Review titled Thank you

Rated 5 stars out of 5

by Katarzyna Trzeciak - Posted on 24 September 2024

Just wanted to say a massive thank you to a very helpful and kind lady who worked at Paulsgrove reception this morning (24 Sep 2024). Not only she helped massively with labeling my daughters samples, she then kindly helped to resolve and issue with my NHS that I have been struggling with for months. She was extremely patient, friendly, understanding and supportive. A real credit to your Team. Please give her my thanks.

  2. Review titled Worst experience so far…

Rated 1 star out of 5

by Anonymous - Posted on 11 September 2024

Getting a F2F GP appt is impossible, expectation is that everything can be managed remotely by email/text, so no ability to ask questions or have physical check, so they are unable to give a thorough diagnosis. Doctor clearly hasn’t read notes properly or addressed request for re-prescription of medication. This time I had to contact (online as limited options to speak to a human!) them to ask about results as didn’t even bother to respond once blood test was in (came back with abnormal result again).

Thank you for your feedback. In August alone we had 13,063 face to face appointments that were attended by our patients. Appointments can be booked over the telephone or digitally, although more and more patients are preferring to contact digitally. I am sorry that the clinician had not read your notes, this is something that they usually do and ask additional questions to ensure understanding. Test results that are reviewed and are not as expected or requiring further action does lead to contact from the Practice. We will share this feedback with our team and use for learning to improve our future service.

  3. Review titled Vaccine concerns ongoing

Rated 2 stars out of 5

by Anonymous - Posted on 27 May 2024

Continuing on from my review on May 24th. Five days after the vaccines, for which I was given no information or advice and told would have minimal side effects, I developed further pain, redness and swelling in my arm. I am now poulticing to reduce the swelling. Five days later and I still feel unwell. Obviously if the situation does not improve I shall attempt to call 111 for advice....but I would have expected to have been given all appropriate information and advice at my initial appointment! Both vaccines were given in the same arm so I have no way of knowing which one I am reacting to, which is important as I should have a second shingles jab in six months time. Should I report this as a severe reaction, if so to whom and which vaccine? I have no idea!! I feel very let down by the surgery, have lost my trust and doubt I shall risk a second shingles jab. I hope the surgery takes note of this and in future ensures that all the correct information, advice and care is given when administering any vaccine to anyone.

  4. Review titled Vaccine concerns

Rated 2 stars out of 5

I was called in for a Shingles and Pneumococcal vaccination. On arrival I enquired about potential side effects of the vaccines. I was subjected to a lecture upon the dangers of Shingles. I took a deep breath and explained that I was well aware of Shingles and potential complications and that I definitely did not want Shingles but I would just like to know if the vaccine had any risks attached, also the Pneumococcal vaccine. I was told, No, they were dead vaccines and the worst I could expect was a slight ache in my arm. I asked if I should wait for fifteen minutes after the vaccinations...which is usual practice after any vaccine due to the risk of anaphylactic shock.....but again told brusquely No, I could just go about my business. No further information and the whole appointment felt rushed, that I just needed to get in and out as quickly as possible. The next morning I had a swollen red welt on my upper arm 2" across and felt very unwell and still do. I am taking paracetamol regularly. I was given no advice on what to do should I experience an adverse reaction, my questions were not answered honestly in my opinion and I feel I have been treated without the care I should have been. I have no idea who to contact should my condition worsen because I was not informed. My trust has been severely dented.

  5. Review titled Access for the elderly

Rated 3 stars out of 5

by Anonymous - Posted on 04 April 2024

My 85 year old mother received very good service from the doctor and it was her wish to send a thank you a few weeks later. She also had a couple of brief questions about ongoing treatment including whether it is safe to continue with health food supplements with her new prescribed medication and we included these brief queries in a note with the thank you card which I dropped in at reception of the Crookhorn practice. I was told by the reception that I would have to phone in with her questions (mother can't hear well at all so using the phone is very difficult) at 10 a.m. So if anyone is wondering why the phones are always busy and you are number 48 in the queue you now know why! Mother's queries are not urgent and we thought a written note would allow for a GP to respond at a more convenient time to them and not clog up phone lines for poorly people in need of a more urgent response. Not good access for the elderly or people with hearing disabilities who would like to retain their independence.

Thank you for your comments. Please be advised that where possible we will always refer patients to our contact centre and that is where the majority of appointment management is done, however there are many groups of patients for many different reasons, who either cannot or do not use the telephone, should we receive requests in writing they will be scanned and reviewed to see if a clinical response is required, this will then be actioned although often the timeframe for this is much longer than calling the contact centre. We are sorry in this instance if you not advised this and will liaise with the relevant team to ensure they are aware and providing the correct information.

  6. Review titled Your recent appointment - health care check-up

Rated 5 stars out of 5

by Anonymous - Posted on 16 January 2024

This was an appointment for health check, my treatment was fine and as always the staff at the surgery were very pleasant to speak to. Just wish it was possible to be able to book a Drs appointment at the surgery as a pain trying to get through at the right time by phone and found 'system online' irritating to use.

Thank you for your feedback. We are sorry that you have been unable to gain access to a Doctor when needed. We would advise that currently all areas of the health service have capacity issues and demand is often more than we can safely provide.

  9. Review titled Blood draw

Rated 5 stars out of 5

by Anonymous - Posted on 15 January 2024

Very efficient. I had no wait. The nurse explained what needle she used and why. The only discrepancy was.......I was told initially to fast for 12 hours before, but the nurse said that was not a fasting blood test so.......one hungry patient. All good though. Mixed messages it seems??
