Review titled How do they get away with it!
Rated 2 stars out of 5
by Anonymous - Posted on 24 January 2024
Awful experience trying to get through and this has happened the last 3x I have tried to get an appt in the last 12 months. I am not a repeat caller at all. I have spent 2 mornings trying to get through for an appt for my son. The voice message today from 8am-9.08am was repeatedly telling me that the caller was on another line. I’m not even sure they had their phones switched on?? At 9.08am I managed to get into the queue as caller no4. When I got through to a receptionist she told me there were no appts and to call back tomorrow. I asked her how she would know that I wouldn’t have the same experience again but she said she couldn't say. I’d been trying for 2 days already. I said I knew it was a gp my son needed to see and I knew UTC or a&e couldn’t help me but all she suggested was to call back tomorrow or come to the surgery at 8am. When I stated I start work at 8am tomorrow and had children to get to school and I couldn’t do that, she had no other options for me. If you ever manage to get to see a gp they are lovely but the receptionists are always either rude, dismissive or really unhelpful. She didn’t know why the voice message that had been playing since 8am was playing and what it even meant and she definitely didn’t manage to help me. She didn’t even ask what the problem with my son was. Just kept repeating the same unhelpful advice. Trying to juggle a busy morning with trying to get a gp appt these days is just the most stressful thing. The advice given can be so impractical and the receptionists just don’t want to be helpful.

Review titled Awful and acting against legislation!
Rated 1 star out of 5
by Cristina Hora - Posted on 05 November 2023
My son (under 5) was very ill with fever for over 5 days (at that point, but it continued), barking cough and very frail. I tried calling them but no one answered the phone for over 40 minutes I have been ‘caller number 1’ for 40 minutes, so gave up. I called 111 and they told me they’ve sent in a referral to my Gp so they must see me. Next day I call early in the morning, managed to get through only to be told they only offer on the day appointments and they have none! It is now against the law to do this! Uk legislation says an appointment must be given to patients same day if urgent (which it was!) or an appointment in the next 2 weeks should be offered! ‘This will mean that when patients contact their practice online or over the phone they will know on the day they make contact how their query will be managed, rather than being told to call back later. If their need is urgent, they will be assessed and given appointments on the same day. If it is not urgent, appointments should be offered within 2 weeks, or patients will be referred to Nhs 111 or a local pharmacy’. This practice should be investigated to see why they are acting against legislation! Absolutely zero compassion towards sick people (or little people!). Since Covid I was unable to see a Gp!

Review titled Awful awful GP
Rated 1 star out of 5

I have been trying to book an appointment for the last 3 months it is unacceptable . I have been constantly calling yet they never gave any appointments? And then after I am met with disrespect and attitude from the reception team. Every time I call the phone hangs up and says busy. If the call actually manages to go through then I am in a queue of around 10 people , any time I have had an issue I have to go to minor injuries because of how useless this gp is. The doctors on the other hand are amazing however the reception team is awful and definitely needs changing. I would suggest hiring more receptionists, at the end of the day your a medical practice so you shouldn’t be putting your patients through such a hassle simply trying to book an appointment.

I went there a few times and I found that the GP was closed because all of them went to have lunch at the same time. When calling them you will find hard to discuss with your doctor, or to schedule a blood test, or even to get the results you have to call early in the morning otherwise they are not telling you the results. No online bookings, no online contact. Only phone and is very hard to sort something because they will alsways find a reason to tell you to call another time.

Review titled Delays delays

We've been with this practice for 30 years but since the pandemic the service has been awful. Yesterday I was told that although they have my x-ray results it will be 19 days before a doctor can phone me with the results! Let's hope it's not too urgent. Please don't register with this practice.

Review titled Unhelpful, rude and condescending staff
Rated 1 star out of 5

I have been having issues for 3 years regarding woman issues. I have watched it myself and begged for help which I was ignored. I also suffer from another condition that needs a referral and they refuse to do it for me. I rang up reception this week asking for a refferal to go private and was told I need to speak to a doctor and ring up in the morning with the emergency list. I explained the doctors have my notes so should be able to write it without me taking an appointment. Today 200calls in regarding my woman issue which was never resolved and a referral letter I was treated with so much disrespect. I was sent for bloods after I was told what I was experiencing was due to something bloods can only tell. When I then went on about my referral letter I was spoke down to by the GP was told I could not afford it, told the price, told I'm practically do not understand even though it is not their place to put their opinion on it. I then stated I have insurance and was told to call back to clarify it with the insurance. What a waste of time and resources getting diagnosed through a telephone is the new norm and refusal of letters to go private becuase of bias due to my age and gender.

Trying to get am appointment is almost impossible. I ring wait for ever and get told by ride staff on the phone ring tomorrow no appointment. Why do we pay national insurance and tax to get this type of treatment. Its wrong on all levels, something need to be done about this. Worst service ever.

Review titled Disappointing service
Rated 2 stars out of 5
by Jane Wright - Posted on 19 April 2023
We have been with this practice for nearly 40 years and overall, the service from the GP’s and Practice Nurses has been good. However, in recent years the organisation of the appointment system has become cumbersome and very frustrating as is reflected in most of the reviews on this NHS site. We have had a few issues with this system of ringing up on the day at 8am over recent years, particularly when wanting a routine, non-urgent appointment. I rang today to get a repeat, routine prescription that had been put in as ‘acute’ rather than repeat. I asked the receptionist to ask the GP to put it in the system as a repeat prescription. I was told that I would have to speak to the GP in order to do this, which is fine, happy to do that, but when I asked for this to be organised, I was told I had to ring up at 8am to get the call back. This is ridiculous. I fail to see why non-urgent appointments cannot be made without ringing up at 8am in the morning. If everyone is ringing at 8am, there is inevitably going to be problems with a system that only allows a set number of call backs, if you cannot get a slot, then you have to ring back the next day and so on. This means that patients who are in urgent need of a consultation because they are ill may miss out on a call back because non-urgent cases have taken some slots. If the practice wants to improve its rating, it really needs to address these problems. Online booking of appointments would help.
