  1. Review titled helpful front office staff

Rated 3 stars out of 5

by Anonymous - Posted on 13 March 2025

On the 13/03 I was contacted by a clinical pharmacist who clearly had limited knowledge of my recent medication primarily because my records did not show results of my recent blood test or Peterborough TIA clinic results 03/03. The bloods [to determine cholesterol ] were "waiting" doctors release and the email from Peterborough [ subject statins] could not be found although I had the letter version dated 05/03 which the reception scanned. I asked for a doctors appointment at reception and the very helpful lady tried but could not schedule this as only 1 appointment left across the whole group and suggested I try Monday when more would be released! My medication depends on both the above and needs a doctor's guidance before commencing appropriate treatment. The staff are most helpful but the system is dire; I notice you are accepting new patients but the practice seems to struggle with existing ones which is most frustrating, also a lack of system compatibility across Peterborough, Hinchingbrooke and Riverport is regrettable.

Thank you for providing such an efficient service. Within an hour of submitting my form we had an appointment for my son. The physician associate was very friendly, thorough and we had a clear plan. He saw us on time and was a very pleasant experience

  3. Review titled Fantastic Service from Physician’s Associate

Rated 5 stars out of 5

by Anonymous - Posted on 21 February 2025

I had an appointment today with the Physician’s Associate (zm) who was absolutely brilliant. Excellent manner with myself as a patient, and he was professional and informative without being overwhelming. He was extremely thorough in his assessment and suggested treatment and this really stood out in a time where bad experiences at GP surgeries are all you seem to hear about. I was really impressed and pleased with the service I received, and felt that the person providing the service was engaged with me as a patient. I would be extremely pleased if any future appointments were also with the Physician’s Associate - it was just as helpful (if not more than!) previous appointments I have had with GPs - this feels like a brilliant interim measure to ensure appointments are available whilst also freeing up some time for GPs to deal with other things. Thank you!

  4. Review titled Great practice

Rated 5 stars out of 5

We are quite new to practice and was very wary of joining but I can honestly say it was a good choice. We have been treated with respect and dignity. All the members of staff we have seen from doctors to nurses to receptionist have be brilliant. My husband has complex medical problems and they have treated him with the upmost care. O know if you wish to see a specific doctor then you may have a wait but then that is up to you. I would like the radio to be a wee bit louder so we can hear it and not the receptionist booking appointments! My husband had to have bloods taken and the young lady who took it was excellent. He said he didn’t even feel the needle go in. I like that you can get a telephone comsulation as it saves time having to go to practice. The only thing I find is one or two of receptionist are very blunt makes you feel guilty for ringing. My husband has to have blood test every two weeks and one of the receptionist called to make appointments in advance so we don’t have to struggle to get booked in. I found this very good service Keep up the excellent work Riverport

  5. Review titled Disappointed in response

Rated 3 stars out of 5

I had an echocardiogram and was told by the radiologist that one heart valve was severely calcified. I was very alarmed by this. The next morning I requested an appointment, either face to face or a phone call to discuss the implications as I was feeling really anxious. I received a text telling me there was nothing they could do but if I had chest pains ring 999. All I wanted was a chat, information as to what to expect, any precautionary medication options and perhaps some reassurance. I miss the days when the GP knew the family and would talk to you. I know times have changed and the workload is much greater but the personal touch we used to experience has gone.

Dear Patient, I'm sorry to hear our Secondary Care colleagues did not offer appropriate follow up from your investigations at the hospital. Unfortunately, this is not something we are always able to offer in General Practice. Typically it would take much longer for us to receive your results than the next working day, which is why the hospital or clinic would be expected to act on any result which required more immediate attention. Nationally there is recognition that demand for General Practice services is much higher than the capacity available. This means that our team will consider all work and make an appropriate decision as to whether it is suitable for General Practice, or another service. This is supported by our Local Medical Committee, the General Medical Services Contract, and by the British Medical Association. I understand this may mean that the role of General Practice is very different to the expectations that the public have for our surgery. There is additional information about this on our website under the section titled "Why does my appointment need to be triaged". https://www.riverportmedicalpractice.nhs.uk/practice-information/ If there is anything the Practice can support with, we'd encourage you to contact us on 01480 466611. Kind regards, Riverport Medical Practice

  6. Review titled Lack of Welfare treatment

Rated 1 star out of 5

My mother turned up for her appointment before time and had told reception that she was here. Then she was made to understand the receptionist had registered her arrival. She waited and nothing happened and then asked receptionist about her appointment and was told you haven’t signed in. Now she’s missed her appointment despite being there. My mother is an elderly lady who does not do technology, hence always goes to the receptionist. She’s not feeling good hence the visit to the doctors. It has caused a lot of stress, tears and unhappiness which is the last thing you expect from your doctors.

Dear patient, I'm sorry to hear your mother's appointment had not correctly been marked as 'arrived'. I apologise if our Receptionist had failed to do this, it would not have been their intention. I hope our team was able to support with rescheduling her appointment. 7. Review titled Really bad surgery

Rated 1 star out of 5

Tried to get an appointment for a child, the person that allocated the appointment thought that my child didn’t need an appointment for a temperature, sore throat and rash! Got a message referring us to the pharmacy, they couldn’t help! Called doctors again, the person once again wouldnt allocate an appointment and referred us to 111. A child is ill and we are just sent round and round in circles, GP surgery’s should help not sign post to other services that can’t help! What a waste of time and resources of the NHS

Dear Patient, Thank you for sharing your feedback with the Practice. I'm sorry the experience you have had is so negative recently. Although signposting and directing to other services may not have traditionally been considered General Practice work, it is now what we are asked to do. The Practice is commissioned to offer care through the GMS contract, which does state that we should invite the patient to make use of, or direct the patient towards, appropriate services which are available to the patient, including services which the patient may access themselves. However, where the appropriate care pathway is General Practice, we endeavour to offer a GP appointment, or another suitable appointment at one of our Practice sites. Unfortunately, capacity within General Practice is often surpassed by demand for these appointments. As a healthcare provider we are asked not to see additional patients beyond the safe capacity. Instead it is recommended we signpost to NHS111 or urgent treatment centres when our capacity in the Practice is reached. I'm very sorry the Practice was not able to offer a suitable appointment on this occasion. If an appointment is still required for your child, I would encourage you to contact the Practice again. If you would like a telephone call to discuss this, please don't hesitate to contact the Practice on the details below. 01480 466611 riverport.medicalpractice@nhs.net Yours sincerely, Riverport Medical Practice

On visiting my doctor on a different subject, I said l had gone deaf for 5 days ... The doctor was straight on the case and a few hours later l was in hospital having tests and treatment and another appointment at the hospital next week. Apparently l may have left it too late.but whatever the outcome l am very very thankful with the speed of the doctors concern. Thankyou.

Dear Patient, Thank you for your feedback. Firstly I am really pleased to hear you have positive feedback for our Reception Team, I will pass that along. I am sorry you have struggled with prescription concerns. We tend not to retain items on repeat prescription that have not been requested or issued in over a year. This is to aid safe prescribing and to ensure our team have an opportunity to determine whether that item would still be most appropriate for your concern. I understand our reception desks can become busy at times. I would like to reassure you that our team are working hard to manage the incoming queries and requests, both efficiently and effectively. It does therefore take longer to resolve some queries, and our team members may occasionally be busy for longer periods than expected. If you would like to discuss your concerns further, please don't hesitate to contact the Practice on the details below. 01480 466611 riverport.medicalpractice@nhs.net Yours sincerely, Riverport Medical Practice

Dear Patient, I am sorry to hear you have had a negative experience with ordering your prescription. Occasionally items are removed from a repeat list if they have not been ordered or issued in a long time. Another reason that an item may have been removed, is that some medication is now considered safer to issue if we do not include it in the repeat prescription list. This may be due to the monitoring required to safely prescribe the medication. If you would like to discuss your concerns further, please don't hesitate to contact the Practice on the details below. 01480 466611 riverport.medicalpractice@nhs.net Yours sincerely, Riverport Medical Practice
