  1. Review titled Appointment

Rated 1 star out of 5

by Prashant - Posted on 29 October 2024

My husband and myself have been suffering from cold, fever and cough. We were told we had an appointment with a gp, and met with a paramedic who told us some remedies at home. None of which worked. After that we waited for a week and still my husband is struggling with a cough and called back to speak to get any appointment with a doctor I explained to them the situation and still they side by their Para medic and tell me my behavior is wrong. We explained we r new to this country, and my husband has a history with coughs and he needs medications, otherwise this cough will not break away. He has been extremely tired after coughs, has to drive and we are extremely worried without medication something might happen to him. I called twice and instead of listening to us the receptionist said she doesnt have to tolerate my rudeness and All I am trying to get through is my concern. Can someone help ?

Dear Prashant, I am sorry that your experience at St Georges Surgery was so difficult for you. I would like to address your queries, firstly cough, cold and fever usually would be identified as a minor ailment and your husbands appointment with a Specialist Paramedic would be the correct option, the community pharmacists are also available and they would often indicate if something was more serious and then a GP on the day appointment would be offered. We do have to be mindful that this is the flu season and we would be overwhelmed if we saw everyone with similar symptoms to the ones you have mentioned. A viral illness can last between 7-10 days and rest, fluids and over the counter pain medication will often see you through the worst of these symptoms. However if the cough is ongoing then a GP appointment would be necessary where perhaps an chest Xray would be required. Symptoms for colds and flu should not linger more than 2 weeks, what we would ask is that before you have an appointment with a clinician that all other options such as pharmacy advice, self help are used first. Please visit our website as this has really good practical advice about your health and how to treat yourself. Kind regards Marion Costello Practice Manager St Georges Surgery.

  2. Review titled Unhelpful and uncaring

Rated 1 star out of 5

Doctors here aren't interested in helping people, they're obstructive, dismissive and lack empathy. Pharmacist refused to issue medication and subsequently cancelled appointments and refused to reply to me

Dear Anonymous, I am the practice manager and my name is Marion Costello. I am so sorry you feel that everyone is being obstructive, dismissive and lacking in empathy. I would like to understand what has gone so terribly wrong for you to feel this way about S I would certainly like to help you achieve a positive outcome. I am unable to investigate when I don't know who you are.

  3. Review titled Difficult getting an appointment.

Rated 3 stars out of 5

by pat - Posted on 28 March 2024

Phoned up a few times today was in some sort of queue and not at the front, and I got cut off after waiting. So I don't really see the point. You can't seem to book it online because they don't give any appointment dates. I'm not criticising the doctors. I'm just criticising the appointment system.

Hi Pat, Did you realise that you can request a call back if the line is busy? Also all staff have the facility to see incoming calls and how long anyone has been waiting. Requesting a call back keeps you in the queue, if you hang up and ring again at a later time the process just starts again, so I would highly recommend this feature of our new telephone system. Currently there are 3 people in the queue and the longest anyone has been waiting is 5 minutes 4 seconds the average response rate is 90seconds we have had as of 11.10 am 110 incoming calls. With regards to availability of online appointments due to the two bank holidays, staff shortages we are unable to extend the online appointments to far in advance due to the demand. Please be assured that our staffing levels will be back to normal from the 8.4.24 where more online and routine appointments will be available, we are so sorry that we are unable to offer more at this time and we are working very hard to secure additional staff to help. Kind regards Marion Costello Practice Manager St Georges Surgery.

  4. Review titled Impressed with response

Rated 5 stars out of 5

Spoke to the Dr yesterday and got a text today confirming he had done exactly as discussed and updating me with the outcome this morning. So far our experience of this surgery as a family has been excellent.

  7. Review titled Amazing service

Rated 5 stars out of 5

by Danii Marsden - Posted on 13 June 2023

Having just moved back to Gloucestershire, I had a couple of issues that weren’t being addressed in Hampshire. Within 3 months of being here, GP’s and practitioners have been on the case and I have received 2 referrals for further investigations already. I feel confident that I am now with a practice that has amazing communication between all departments and the hospital and I have already recommended St George’s to 2 other people. Reception staff are friendly and helpful (which is not what I have experienced in the past with surgeries!) and do their very best to help.

Rated 5 stars out of 5

Just like to let you know how impressed I was by the “Hub” respiration clinic, which I attended last Sunday. The doctor I saw provided in depth information on my condition and there seemed to be no rush. I felt properly looked after and cared about. Overall, very impressed. Thank you.

  9. Review titled Excellent practice

Rated 5 stars out of 5

by Patricia Seabright - Posted on 31 May 2023

Saw GP 30 minutes after phone call requesting appointment. GP listened carefully then carried out checks. Discovered irregular pulse. Saw nurse for ECG immediately and then back for consultation with doctor. Atrial fibrillation confirmed and medication prescribed and explained carefully. I had no idea I had this condition and only vigilant checks revealed it. All within 50 minutes of initial appointment. Brilliant, empathetic doctor. Follow up appointment given to monitor me. Cannot speak highly enough about this practice. Not the first time excellent service has been given to me. Thank you most sincerely.
