  2. Review titled Poor customer service

Rated 2 stars out of 5

by David Thomson - Posted on 08 July 2024

Was expecting a call from a GP which never happened, only to be told that I had (and made out a liar). Technical glitches happened, however, the attitude was,we sent guidance, you received it,tough! I stated that I was miffed on how a GP can diagnose an issue without an examination. The whole attitude was that I, as the customer, was an inconvenience! Simply poor sevice. Shame is, the practice nurses are lovely, let down me thinks!

  3. Review titled Appointments

Rated 1 star out of 5

by Carl Roberts - Posted on 07 June 2024

Just completed a seven day blood pressure review requested by surgery. Got no response from surgery for seven days so phoned and after been put in a queue for thirty five minutes spoke to a lady who looked at the history and informed me noone had looked at results. It's was in nurses inbox . The lady then told me that she put it on the triage list for someone to look at next day.revieved a text this morning asking for me to make an appointment,I phoned surgery to be informed all appointments were now booked on line when tried to book earliest appoint was for twenty days away which I booked. Being a little concerned about this with history of heart problems in the family I phoned the surgery and after waiting in another queue for thirty minutes was told I have a telephone appointment with a pharmacist. Asked why couldn't see a doctor sooner or speak to someone got reply that's the earliest we can do. I think this is disgraceful since the practice as got bigger the service as declined considerably the personal touch is no longer applied at the practice we are no longer patients but numbers on a spread sheet and you are making it harder and harder to access my right to see a doctor under the NHS which I pay tax and national insurance to fund.

Dear Carl I recognise that difficulties in accessing the Practice can be extremely frustrating for our patients and I apologise unreservedly for any upset or inconvenience. Unfortunately we only have a limited number of appointments to offer patients on a daily basis and are unable to exceed this capacity. In this circumstance you may be directed to an alternate service such as a walk in centre or NHS 111. Please be assured that our clinicians are working to their full capacity and the Practice sees as many patients as it is safe to do so. Our clinical and non-clinical teams now also have a range of skilled staff, from GPs, Advanced Nurse Practitioners, Pharmacists, Practice Nurses, Home Visiting Team, Social Prescribers and Health Coaches to name a few. This is in aim for more patients to be seen at their Practice. Due to the high pressure both primary and secondary care are under at the moment, it is sometimes useful for patient to see an extended service clinician at the Practice when appropriate. Again, I am very sorry that you have been struggling to access our services. Kind regards, Holly Patient Experience Officer

  4. Review titled Disappointing, but they have now redeemed themselves.

Rated 4 stars out of 5

by Tracy Lister - Posted on 06 July 2024

I am now on menopause specialist number three at this surgery. After being dismissed by the 1st and told I was depressed and needed counselling by the 2nd! After being fobbed off with what I believed was inadequate care for a menopausal women, the 3rd specialist was amazing. She treated me with respect, engaged with me, explained HRT and actually listened to what I was saying. She made eye contact and didn't make me feel like I was being a nuisance or just some mad, whinging woman! I have been with this surgery for many years, and I have to say things have not been great since COVID, appointment wise, but I felt they had always done right by me and my family. However, on this occasion, it has not only been really frustrating, but also an extremely anxiety inducing experience. Getting appointments and any consistency with care, has been impossible. It is stressful and not exactly filled me with much confidence. This surgery has three menopause specialists, with only one who appears to understand what woman are going through and be knowledgeable and compassionate enough to explain this, in a sensitive and understanding manner. My previous experiences have not only been dismissive, but also very upsetting when you can clearly see they are not interested from the get go. To have to go to a totally unnecessary counselling appointment and challenge the the doctor that you are not depressed, there is something seriously wrong with diagnosing menopause symptoms, and HRT side effects at this surgery. I was strong enough to challenge this, but others may not and may be put on anti depressants, which they clearly do not need. Luckily, after lots of calls and insistence, I then got to see the Unicorn of all doctors at that surgery!!! OMG, 30 full minutes, not rushed at all. She sat facing me, looking at me, interacting with me, showing me options, showing me what hormones are like on a graph and how my path on this menopause journey may pan out. I was blown away, she was truly amazing and all from the same surgery. She confirmed what I said to the previous doctor, but was dismissed, that progesterone is sedatory and I was not depressed! She suggested other options, so they may need to revisit this, but to see how I go for the next three months. I believe if you are going through, or believe you are suffering from menopause symptoms, this will not be an easy journey at this surgery. I would love to name the GP who has supported me, but it appears I am unable to, she knows who she is and I thank you. I would also like to say the receptionists have been brilliant, really understanding, but the practice manager leaves a lot to be desired! I have had to jump through hoops, feel completely frustrated and that I was actually losing my sanity. Its been tough, but I just kept on and on and without the support and knowledge provided by a group of people at work and family members, I doubt I would have felt empowered and knowledgeable enough to do so.

  5. Review titled Awful doctors surgery

Rated 1 star out of 5

by Georgia - Posted on 26 June 2024

Have failed to note down a medication I have an allergy to, not only once, but twice. Then proceeded to give me said medication and when I queried it, asking for something else, was told I have no allergy as it’s not on their system. I was seen at this doctors 7 days after symptoms of tonsillitis had started. Was told that there was no point giving me antibiotics as it would only clear it up 24/48 hours before my body will do it naturally. I proceeded to get worse over the weekend, had a completely blocked ear, couldn’t eat or drink as swallowing was so painful all whilst having a newborn baby to take care of too. Phoned back for another appointment and was offered an appointment a week later. I pushed back, asking for something the same day and was seen, doctor checked and told me I had fluid in my ears and my throat looked worse than when he’d seen me a few days previously. Eventually got prescribed something, went to the pharmacy 2 hours later to be told they hadn’t received a prescription and to call back. Eventually got told it was ready to collect, picked it up and have been given medication I can’t take. Called GP to tell them and was told it would be the next day that anything would get sorted. Next day I receive a call telling me I can have said medication as it’s not on their system that I have an allergy to it. I told them I couldn’t have it and they told me the doctors would call me back the same day. Conveniently, the GP closes at 1pm on a Wednesday so have heard nothing. I am now on day 13 of feeling unwell with no antibiotics to help

  6. Review titled Poor Service

Rated 1 star out of 5

    by K CHAMBERLAIN - Posted on 24 June 2024

Recently made an appointment to see a nurse for an ear problem - after waiting two weeks my appointment was cancelled two hours before attendance - with no reason. Completed an online request for another problem- received text to say book appointment online - to get a message "no appointments available -come back in 24 hours" Did this for 3 days then tried calling - waited 40 minutes to get through to be told only appointment was in 2 weeks time (which clashed with a holiday) asked if I could be seen after my holiday to be told "no appointments available that week" Decided to change doctors as the service at this surgery is totally unacceptable.

  7. Review titled Frustrated

Rated 5 stars out of 5

by Andy Roper - Posted on 08 May 2024

I was sent a text from St John’s medical centre to ask me to book an appointment for tests and if this didn’t happen I would not be issued my prescription until I did. I tried on line to book an appointment I couldn’t so left a message on the nhs app. I then had another text to say I was to receive a phone consultation on Friday 3rd May by the pharmacist. Not sure what this would achieve I visited the surgery to ask for a face to face. A helpful receptionist couldn’t assist me as she advised they work remotely and said to wait for my call later that afternoon This didn’t happen and have not seen or heard anything since. Can you help please?

  8. Review titled No you can’t see a Doctor!

Rated 1 star out of 5

by Anonymous - Posted on 11 June 2024

Had a tic bite. Rang surgery at 8am requesting appointment /phone call. Told Doctor would call. Received text 2 hours later no appointments, go to the Manor. Rang up as could not get there. Suggested go to local pharmacy. They were very helpful but said see Doctor, we cannot deal with tic bites. Explained surgery had sent me! Went into surgery. Doctor still refusing to see or call me. Admin very helpful and suggested I went to Samuel Johnson in Lichfield. Met with efficient admin, a half hour wait then seen by a nurse who listened and inspected the bite. Disgraceful service from the Doc involved. Tic bites can be dangerous. I wasted nearly 4 hours being sent from pillar to post. Very stressful as already very concerned about the bite.

  9. Review titled Unhappy

Rated 2 stars out of 5

I visited a doctor who after seeing me prescribed me antibiotics, they asked me to collect after 1pm, as I am really unwell and just wanted to get back home and get into bed, this wasn't what I wanted I wanted to get the prescriprion straight away and go to a chemist myself, anyway I got myself dressed again and went to the chemist for my medication to which there was none there and nothing had been sent. I then went back to the surgery and explained why I was there, to be honest took them a while to see whatever they were looking for innthe computer screen, anyway then I was told that whoever it was, was out on home visit and that they would get them to do it as soon as they were back! So now I have again got to go out when I am unwell to get what I need to make me well, this isn't acceptable as a patient to have to keep going backwards and forwards to find out where there prescription is, if you say you are sending one to your nominated chemist then you should send it straight after seeing the patient, just like when they used to print them and give them to you to collect yourself, I am now still waiting as I want told a time when this would be available to collect, so once again I will have too call to see if it has been sent and if it hasn't, again make another visit to the surgery. For this to happen to someone who is quite ill is not best practice and I am disgusted to say the least that ill patients have to chase up there medications!!!!!
