Review titled Disappointed by this practice.
Rated 1 star out of 5
by Anonymous - Posted on 13 August 2024
The GP practice faces ongoing challenges with communication and responsiveness. Emails requesting important documents often go unanswered, and calls typically result in extended wait times of over 30 minutes. While the receptionists do their best, they frequently cannot address patient queries, indicating deeper issues within the practice. My experience with scheduled telephone consultations has been less than ideal. One consultation was delayed by an hour, and though the doctor provided an explanation, the lack of timely communication made me feel overlooked. On another occasion, a consultation was missed entirely without any notice or follow-up. Repeated requests for a doctor's assessment have gone unanswered, leaving me concerned about the reliability of the practice’s service. It would be helpful to understand why these communication gaps exist and whether they are being addressed.

Dear Patient, Thank you for taking the time to feedback about your recent experiences with the practice, i am very sorry to read that you are disappointed with the service. The way to contact the practice is via E-consult on our practice website, by phone or in person at the front desk. Our phone lines can often be busy, patients are directed to E-consults so you can submit administrative queries, as well as medical queries online. All E-consults are triaged within 24-48 hours (excluding weekends) then one of the team will contact you with a response. I believe you have already submitted complaints about the issues you have had with communication. Yours sincerely, Laura Mayo, Practice Manager

Review titled First class service!

Excellent response to my e-consult request. Appointment was made very quickly and a referral to the hospital shortly afterwards. On another occasion a doctor telephoned at the time arranged with a most helpful discussion and prescription. Impressive, effective and efficient service with empathetic and knowledgeable doctors.

Review titled Rude receptionist, unprofessional.
by Stefan - Posted on 15 July 2024
I am extremely disappointed with the service I received from St. Peter's Street Medical Practice. My experience has been marked by a series of delays, poor communication, and a lack of empathy from the staff, particularly regarding my urgent medical needs. I was charged £60 for the completion of a medical form necessary for my ex insurance claim witch state no history, despite repeatedly informing the practice of my unemployed status and inability to pay. I requested a reduction or waiver of the fee, but this was outrightly denied. The practice initially did not offer any payment plan, which only added to my frustration. The practice has been incredibly slow to respond to my emails and queries. I have had to follow up multiple times over several weeks to receive any form of communication. This delay has directly impacted my ability to get necessary medical treatment. Different staff members provided conflicting information regarding the payment policies and procedures. Initially, I was told that installment payments were not an option, but this was later contradicted by another staff member. Such inconsistencies have caused significant confusion and further delayed my treatment. There were errors in the documents provided by the practice. For instance, a letter inaccurately stated my intentions regarding my treatment, which I had to request be corrected. This inaccuracy in medical records is unacceptable, especially when it affects my health. The overall tone of communication from the practice was often dismissive and lacked understanding of my financial and medical situation. There was a notable insensitivity from staff, which only added to the stress of dealing with my health issues. Receptionist ahead with they manager extremely rude. I have to complain to PALS against them. Due to the practice's delays and additional bureaucratic hurdles, my required surgery has been postponed, causing me considerable physical discomfort and distress. Overall, my experience with St. Peter's Street Medical Practice has been highly unsatisfactory. I urge the practice to address these issues to prevent other patients from facing similar challenges. I do not recommend this practice based on my experience. Stefan

Review titled Unprofessional and unhelpful
Rated 1 star out of 5
by Myrto Minotaki - Posted on 11 July 2024
Took them 3 weeks to give me back the results of very simple tests because they could not find them and they were not willing to help at all. I had to call them a million times, they couldn't locate the results, they found that my previous GP had the results but they were not willing to call them, I called my previous GP and was trying to connect the two practices together, they were telling me they had found and one result instead of 2. and after 3 weeks I had of course to redo the exams. I am still waiting for the results to come back after 1 week although the nurse told me specifically she would call me after 1 week with the results. Unprofessional, untrustful, unhelpful. Very disappointing to have to deal with this public healthcare. I will register to another GP.

Dear Ms Minotaki, Thank you for taking the time to feedback about your recent interactions with the surgery, i am sorry to read this has been so fraught. Unfortunately, there was an error at the hospital which meant we did not receive your results, these were sent to your previous surgery. When we were made aware of this, several members of the reception and clinical team contacted both the hospital and your previous surgery to chase this up. Your new results came to us on the evening of the 10th of July and you were scheduled a call with the nurse the following day the 11th July to go through them. I am sorry that you feel we were unhelpful, untrustful and unprofessional, but i can see that my team have done the best they can to rectify the errors made by the hospital lab. Many thanks, Laura Mayo, Practice Manager.

Review titled Poor Reception Service
Rated 2 stars out of 5
by Service User - Posted on 25 June 2024
On way to practice about midday to drop off sample, had a fall on herb, hit hip and scrapped elbow with blood. On arrival asked for help with scrape as was bleeding and in discomfort. Reception appeared to be training new member of staff. Advised can’t help, no bandage/dressing/wipe, asked to go to toilet and wash with soap and water. Asked for help again, advised no one around, asked again for advice from a nurse, but was advised one on lunch and one seeing patients, very busy, no one to help. Asked if nothing else can be advised, was asked to go to pharmacy down road for some antiseptic cream. Went to toilet for about 10 minutes to check self after fall and wash wound, still bleeding but no one came to even checking was ok. Feel very sad and upset that reception team don’t appear to be very kind or caring and worst still role modelling this to new staff members. Have had previous similar experiences with team in recent months and makes me feel very unwelcome at this surgery which is a shame as the GPs are generally exceptional.

Review titled Excellent local practice
Rated 5 stars out of 5
by Danielle - Posted on 19 January 2024
Feel lucky to have had this as my local practice for the last eight years. The e consult system works well and I am always seen quickly if needed (often same day!). Friendly staff and a nice airy, clean surgery. Appointments never feel rushed.

Review titled Very grateful
Rated 5 stars out of 5
by Anonymous - Posted on 04 January 2024
My family and I have been patients at this surgery for c.30 years. We have had good experiences from reception, admin, nursing staff to the doctors. During the summer, my uncle with whom I was extremely close passed away suddenly and at a relatively ‘young’ age. I was and still am devastated and shocked. To add to my sadness and stress, I myself was admitted into hospital in the autumn and my mother has had health issues too. The review page states that I am not allowed to name individuals, so I will state that one of the GPs has been extremely patient, understanding and kind throughout this difficult period. His helpful advice and calm nature has kept me sane during these trying times. He has been my GP for many years and has always given good counsel. When necessary, he has referred me to other professionals and has always involved me in the decision-making process. I am extremely grateful that my family and I are patients at this practice.
