Review titled Doctors? What doctors?
Rated 1 star out of 5
by Anonymous - Posted on 28 May 2024
You expect coming to a new area and only using your doctors in emergency and needed situations that you would be able to get a phone call at least even if you can't get a face to face appointment. On several occasions I have tried to get an appointment and every time a response is to go to urgent care centre. However I knew it wasn't needed I just needed to see a doctor, I rang 111 after being so frustrated and they got me an appointment with the doctors straight away... how strange when there was no appointments that day. Anyway they did not listen to what I had to say and said they would only treat after having what I'd gotten wrong after 3 weeks. Not like you'd get back in if you needed to. Anyway I wasn't fussed I survived and I can manage not getting in for myself however it came to my 3 year old needed a doctor to check her over after a head injury. I gave them instructions how to call back, they ignored everything and sent a simple text. We'll this text was not recieced till 3 hours later as I waited for a phone call at work. Little did I know it said she must go to a and e. Obviously we went as we where then worries that it might be serious. She was completely fine in the end and just needed to have been checked by a doctor and not wasted emergency care. They questioned why we did not just go to a doctor. Well you can't get in at all. I'm not even in a different catchment area to be able to go elsewhere. I'm so disappointed we bassically don't even have a doctors.

Review titled They missed cancer
Rated 1 star out of 5
by Chris - Posted on 17 April 2024
They misdiagnosed my mother's lung cancer despite there being massive red flags from her being a smoker all of her life. She went repeated times and saw different doctors who did not follow protocol and request a chest x-ray until months later. Her cancer was then found at an advanced stage and she died from it. Staffa Health played a small part in her journey that no doubt contributed to her outcome. Please don't register with this practice, they are not fit for purpose.

Review titled Totally useless
Rated 1 star out of 5
by Kevin - Posted on 19 April 2024
I have been suffering for a couple of months. I have tried on a few occasions to get through for an urgent appointment. Most of the time couldn't get through. Last time I got through, I was told someone would call me back at some point during the day. No one cared enough to bother calling and still never got an appointment. They really need to sort out their system. They are failing the community they are supposed to be helping. On one occasion on calling 111 when the operator asked who my doctors were, when I said staffa health they actually said they were sorry...

Review titled Shocking
Rated 1 star out of 5

We have been prescribed allergy milk for our 2 month old daughter(29/01/2024), wasn’t given a repeat prescription rang up today (02/02/2024) asking for a repeat prescription as we are going to run out of milk by Sunday. We were then told we cannot have anymore milk as the milk we were given should have lasted, however our daughter has 6/7oz every 4 hours and we were only given 3 400g tins. We were then told over the phone not to feed her as much as we are, yet our health visitor and doctor we saw for her allergy has said it’s completely fine to do so if she wants it. She can’t go back into normal formula as there would have been no point giving her allergy milk, the doctors telling us not to feed her as much are initially saying to take away her food and nutrition and let her go hungry, which I shall not do.

Review titled Flexible service, fantastic reception staff and GPs !
Rated 5 stars out of 5
by Chloe - Posted on 05 December 2023
Just want to leave positive feedback when it very much due ! The reception staff are amazing and understanding but at the same time set reasonable expectations with you. The online system works well for me and my family. The flexibility of texts or calls when I work and have 2 kids works fantastically. Plus if you need seeing they have always managed to see me the same day if the issue is serious or to do with the children. People always say that my GPs work so well compared to theirs. The GPs themself are all amazing and listen well and have time for you. Perceptions are sent fast and followed up if needed. I would allow more time for parking or walk if possible as car park is quite tight.

Review titled face to face appointment
Rated 2 stars out of 5
by Anonymous - Posted on 07 August 2023
I have requested several face to face appointments with this surgery by filling in the online form but instead they gave me a prescription for antibiotics of which did not work , then another prescription that did not work ,so i am still suffering. How can prescriptions be handed out when you cannot see your gp face to face, another example ,i waited 10 months for a hospital appointment ,only to be told gp has sent me to the wrong department. I have no faith in this surgery at all and i suffer in silence every single day

Review titled Continual poor services at Holmewood
Rated 1 star out of 5
by Anonymous - Posted on 29 November 2023
Quality of care at the Holmewood surgery has really gone downhill in the past 12 months (it wasn't exactly great to begin with). Appointment wait times are ridiculous and it seems the senior partners only goal is to deliberatly reduce the quality of service to such a low standard that they can justify closing Holmewood like they did Pilsley. I've even been told that there are several days that the surgery doesn't even have a GP on site! No wonder we have long wait times when you don't even staff the surgery properly. Reception staff seem instructed to try and divert everyone to Tibshelf but what management fail to ralise is that there isn't a direct route to Tibshelf surgery for almost 2 years and a taxi could be looking at around £30 round trip so those unable to drive are being discriminated against and are forced to wait weeks longer for an appointment at an understaffed surgery, which by the way has enough rooms for 3? GP's. Staffa claim to care about their patients and community but how can that be true when you're routinely and consitently leaving vulnerable and eldery patients at risk by making the conscious decisons to not provide adequate staffing for whats seen as a small, rural surgery (yet the population of the village is rapidly rising due to new housing estates being constructed).

Dear Patient, I am sorry that you feel that our service is falling short of your expectations. I can guarantee you that we have no intention of closing the Holmewood Branch of our Practice. On the rare occasion when we have been extremely short staffed, there may have not been a GP based at the Holmewood Surgery, but a very experienced Advanced Clinical Practitioner would have been there providing appointments to our patients; this will have been an extreme scenario when staff have been off sick. Our appointments are allocated to patients where they are available, if there are no available appointments at the Holmewood Surgery when a patient needs to be seen, appointments at our other sites will be offered, but never forced. We always try to accommodate our patients needs and take in to consideration when they are unable to travel to other sites. With regards to the new development on the B6039 Chesterfield Road, this area does not come under our catchment area, so should not have an impact on our services. I do hope that we regain your trust and confidence in our Practice Services going forward. Yours Sincerely Clare Kirkwood Assistant Practice Manager

Review titled Difficult to see a doctor or even talk to one
Rated 1 star out of 5
by Anonymous - Posted on 08 May 2023
I am living with a couple of health conditions, that pre pandemic I would have been happily send by a GP at this surgery. I’m living with the pain of these conditions as it is impossible to get an appointment at this surgery, I’m sure this isn’t right. The last time I saw a doctor here I had conjunctivitis and had to wait nearly 6 weeks for an appointment, despite a GP being able to take more time to text me than it would have been to see me, their advise was to go to A&E! There’s more and more houses being built in this surgeries catchment, they can’t cope now so who knows what they will be like in the future

Dear Mrs Dunn, Thank you for speaking to me on the telephone this morning and for being understanding of the current pressures we are facing. Where ever possible a face to face appointment will be booked, but as I explained sometimes it is only possible to offer a telephone review when the requested GP is working remotely. I will be in touch again if a face to face appointment with your preferred GP becomes available. Yours Sincerely Clare Kirkwood Assistant Practice Manager
