  1. Review titled Newborn vaccination delay by 3 weeks

Rated 1 star out of 5

by Khalid Malik - Posted on 30 December 2024

My new born daughters 18 week vaccination has been delayed even further into the new year. She is now delayed by 3 weeks going into a month. This will no doubt have a detrimental effect on my daughters health. Appointment was cancelled at the last minute this morning affecting my work schedule as my wife is unable to take my daughter in by herself and requires my assistance. Having called the GP this morning at 10:15 i am told that i am caller number 4. It is coming upto an hour since i have been on the call. I very much doubt it has taken an hour to deal with 4 calls? Clearly calls are being ignored and people are being made to wait unnecessarily. When i did get through i was informed by the receptionist that the nurse called in sick today. I was informed the reception staff do not look at the type of appointment they are cancelling they just get cancelled. When asked if there are any alternative provisions in place i.e. for doctors to administer vaccinations or vaccinations that have already been delayed which could be detrimental to the patients health, i was told no. Yes i can imagine doctors will have more urgent appointments to deal with, but surely for vaccinations that have been delayed for this long should get some priority? The surgery should have at least answered their phones without making people wait unnecessarily, there's more than 1 person at reception. Before cancelling appointments they should also know what their cancelling as each appointment is different and detrimental to each patients health, especially to new born babies where the vaccination has already been delayed by 3 weeks.

  3. Review titled Amazing Human Being

Rated 5 stars out of 5

In today's fast-paced world and the hustle and bustle of London, it's hard to find people who genuinely pay attention to us and see us as individuals. Doctor Fahmida Ali treated me with great respect, attentiveness, and care. She didn't see me as a patient but as a human needing help. Thank you so much, Fahmida Ali.

  4. Review titled No Empathy

Rated 3 stars out of 5

I contacted the practice after a visit to the ED department, with extreme pain in the neck and shoulder, this experience was immensely worrying. The GP practice I was referred to via the ED dept thought that I may have a torn shoulder muscle, and should be referred to the shoulder Doctor, also, that my pain relief should be reassessed. I called Starlane Medical Centre and asked if the referral could be expedited because of the severe pain, I was told that it would be a 12-week wait, as my symptoms were not severe enough and the vetting process would not allow this, this was frustrating as the pain at that time was unbearable. I went on to ask about pain relief and what could be done, I'm on 300mg of Gabapentin 3 times a day which wasn't helping, the doctor told me that if that's not helping there's nothing more that can be done. This was what I found the most surprising and disappointing part of this exchange; there was no advice or help given to control the pain, just nothing more would be tried and no further advice was given, even though I was in so much pain. Where does that leave me as a patient? Told that nothing could be done and to wait in pain for weeks, I felt that there was a serious lack of empathy. I've looked up Gabapentin and found it can take weeks to work, I had only been taking it for 6 days, he could have said maybe wait and see, or offered to start something else. Because of this, I've had to start experimenting to see which painkillers work, but I am conscious of taking things like codeine for too long It would be nice to have a professional to talk to regarding this.

I started a wellbeing initiative. It helped educated me on healthy eating and how to leave a healthy lifestyle. The health coach helped me to loose weight, manage my menopause and also helped my family lived a healthy lifestyle. She changed my life and my family too. I will continue to follow her advice and coaching on living a healthy life by eating healthy foods and exercising with my family.

  7. Review titled Exemplary Efficiency and Exceptional Care

Rated 5 stars out of 5

My family has been a patient of Star Lane Medical Centre since we moved to the borough and we feel compelled to commend their outstanding operation. 6 years on, they haven't disappointed us but only impressed us even further with their improvement and continuous commitment to excellence. Our experience surpassed the typical standards of NHS/primary care, and we believe it warrants formal recognition. Firstly, the appointment booking process impressed me with its remarkable efficiency. Utilising their online portal, it was easy to secure a convenient appointment within the same day (if it's urgent) or someone will call me within a few days (if it's less urgent), eliminating the tedium of lengthy telephone queues. The online portal itself serves as a testament to their commitment to patient autonomy and empowerment. The dedication and expertise of the medical professionals at Star Lane truly elevate their practice. Every interaction with both doctors and nurses was characterised by profound kindness, unwavering professionalism, and genuine attentiveness to my family's needs. They took the time to listen carefully, explain diagnoses thoroughly, and address my concerns with patience and understanding. Lastly, we commend Star Lane Medical Centre for its patient-centred approach to healthcare. They demonstrate an unwavering commitment to providing exceptional care to patients of all ages and backgrounds, regardless of the nature of their health concerns. This dedication to inclusivity fosters a welcoming and supportive environment for every individual seeking their s centre! To NHS - please give more funding to this GP surgery so they can continue to provide excellent service in the borough.

  9. Review titled The Health Coach sessions have changed my life :)

Rated 5 stars out of 5

by Anonymous - Posted on 05 October 2024

Last year, between July and November 2023, I've had 5 sessions with the health coach. Like they said, with health issues including body, mind and spirit, we do need a holistic approach. Through talking, they identified what I need to address to help me improve my life quality. This service offers up to 6 sessions and the coach discharged me after 5. I'm grateful our paths have crossed, and can only recommend this service!

  10. Review titled Excellent Service

Rated 5 stars out of 5

Compared to other GP surgeries it is much easier to get appointments at Star Lane Medical Centre. For example one morning I completed the on - line form and received a message soon after offering me a choice of face - to - face appointments that same afternoon! On other occasions after filling - in the form I have received a phone appointment and sometimes the doctor has then offered me a face - to - face appointment. If a patient has tech problems you simply phone the surgery and a receptionist will fill - out the form for you.
